I've never seen anything to support either of those ideas. Last twenty four hours is your proof Gove says whatever suits his current agenda. Just because his party leaders are madder and even more morally bankrupt than he is,doesn't make him a decent or sane human being.

Oh sorry.i thought you were actually Michael Gove defending yourself as I couldn't imagine anyone else doing so. 🤪 Let me try. Gove is most definitely a political opportunist who has demonstrated more than once that he will betray a close ally if it furthers his career. Yet, he argued for gay rights before it became fashionable/acceptable in the Tory party, and he has always made a good fist of mastering his ministerial briefs. He was the first minister to properly try to sort out the scandal over building cladding, which has stalled since he was sacked. And as he's someone of a similar age to me, I admire the fact that he's still up for a bit of nightclubbing and getting wasted. In that respect, he's a man after my own heart.

That programme that reads out text in Word documents has more personality than Truss is displaying in this speech.

It’s a strange one changing trust for Truss. I just think of a chicken being strung up by it’s legs

"Back again? Dear oh dear. Anyway...." Maybe I'm not as much of a republican as I thought. King Chuck has at least taken the heat off Nicola Sturgeon when it comes to demented Tories being utterly outraged by perfectly reasonable comments. It would be great if Keith Starwars opened PMQs with it every week from now on.

You say that still, even after Liz Truss has trashed the economy? He trashed it first. He put in place all of the conditions that led to her placing the straws breaking the camel's back. Except that camel's back was already in very poor shape. In particular, he created a culture of avoiding accountability. That's not to say politics, or his predecessors of any colour were perfect, but he frequently lied to both the public and Parliament at a scale previously unheard of and got away with it for far too long. The UK economy has faced some challenges that originated outside the UK, such as the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, but Johnson's handling of both, especially the pandemic, resulted in a bigger hit to our economy and the running down of our public services, particularly the NHS and social care. But the biggest Johnson lies were about Brexit. From the false promises of it being good for the NHS and business, to the arrogant claims of holding all the cards. Brexit was the biggest wrecking ball for our economy, and as much as it's pathetic that so many politicians will lie more to deflect from this, they are simply continuing the Johnson approach. Not that he was a hard-working PM in the first place, but he went into near full-time holiday mode from the moment he announced his resignation until Truss took over. He never cared about serving the people. I don't think he even cared that much for power. All he wanted was the status and the perks that came with being PM.

How many Chancellors is it until Christmas?
It's beyond a joke. This cannot carry on for another two months never mind two years. We need a General Election as soon as possible.

It's surely unsupportable that she stays.
The Chancellor was putting her policies into action and the markets and the public gave a resounding no. Any reasons for him to resign apply to her as well.
There needs to be a general election.

I struggle to see how Truss can remain as PM. If we do get another PM then I can't see it working without a general election.

Surely that wouldn't be necessary unless she has something else, like, hypothetically speaking, her own resignation, to announce. Oh, just seen. Then laughed. Then laughed some more. Jeremy Hunt as Chancellor.

I do hope his return means we’re in for a fresh round of “Jeremy Cu… sorry, Hunt” from the reporters.

Jeremy Hunt as Chancellor. I'd be laughing too if I wasn't petrified at the thought of it. At least he's vaguely competent but runs entirely fuelled on the concept of the NHS's destruction; which he will make short work of in his new role, as he strangles their finances. Mortifying.
