Yes hahaha let's say...weirdly every 4 weeks or so for me too. I mean we're strange creatures us women, that we can both predict that. And yes, yes two women are talking about poo and periods in public, the horror! the horror! You know it took me about 30 years of bleeding to realise that the hormones responsible for “The Shedding” also contributed to “The Shedding Two: Backdoor Shedding”. And that’s why we need to talk about these things. In related news, the crotch of your knickers being bleached? Perfectly normal and a not a sign that your vagina is like the monster from Alien/full of battery acid. Followed by Shed Hard with a Vengance

I just caught up on Strictly last night after being away at the weekend.
I enjoyed Stacey and Kevin's dance the most, but then I am a sucker for a foxtrot (or an American Smooth Foxtrot).
I found Charles and Karen's dance really hard to watch, mainly because of the music. There was no rumba in the music at all. I couldn't tell whether or not they were on time because it was almost as if the music was separate to the dance?

They clearly want Charles out next. Men rarely score well with the Rumba He'd have to do it at some point. Of the traditional Latin 5 dance, Paso is the only other dance he hasn't done. Counting the Latin dances outside of those the only other one he hasn't done is Argentine Tango. He did Tango this weekend so stylistically speaking it doesn't make sense to follow a Tango with a Paso or AT as they are similar. The same way you would ideally avoid a doing a Samba and Salsa consecutively.

Can't say I'm really a fan of any of these choices but who knows...

And if I may ask, what was that Take That performance about? The dancing was dreadful, the song like pre 1962 idea of a beat and the singers themselves somewhat rigid methought. I like the song, if only for the fact that when I hear it the little dancer in my head bounds off in a quickstep, so was really disappointed in the dancing for this.
You have the yearly special in the spiritual home of ballroom, and then have whatever that dancing was instead of ballroom!

I'll put this in spoilers encase anyone wants to go on cold tomorrow...
Pertaining to Stacey and Kevin's routine:
{Spoiler - click to view} They are dancing a tango to the Doctor Who theme with Stacey dressed as 13, and Kevin as a cyberman.
Early on this week there was talk of a role reversal for some parts of the dance, in celebration of the first female Doctor, with Stacey taking on some of the traditional male roles. There wasn't much more explanation around what this means though.
On ITT yesterday they showed a clip of their training, so it seems like partway through the routine they completely swap places with Stacey taking up the leader's hold and Kevin the follower's.
Interested to see how this turns out, but for the clip they showed her frame did not look right and seemed quite weak.
As someone who has danced both I know it is difficult to switch between the two, and that the techniques are different.
Still I'm excited to see how it goes, and think Kevin will make a lovely follower.

and the woman in an extravagant but beautiful shortish ball gown. Competition dresses aren't usually short - the bottom of the skirt should be pretty much down to the ankles, and a properly made and weighted skirt should then have plenty of movement to allow footwork to be seen. Most of the pictures of my teachers when they were dancing competitively (they're in their 60's now) featured tea length ballroom dresses. Modern competition dresses are largely ankle length as that's what is trendy at the moment. As long as the feet can be seen (and they're longer than knee length) it seems to depend where we are in the fashion cycle.

I think the Mayflower had a scheme last year for one of the ballets they were showing that you could get a refund if you didn't like it, as a means of getting people to try something outside their comfort zone.
I think I would feel too awkward to take them up on it.

put the man in a proper white tie and tails evening suit The whole time Joe was dancing I was wishing he was in tails, would have made it so much better! A flat cap has no place in the ballroom!

Felt like Craig had taken his nice pills this week, being much more positive than usual.
I think while the routine was a large part of Vick's downfall (I can only remember 3 actual cha-cha steps included off the top off my head), the little cha there was, was not executed well. It's a shame as I thought she had promise, but ultimately someone has to go and the right two were in the bottom (I won't comment on Lauren and AJ as I have a general distain for that type of dance anyway).
I really enjoyed Alfonso. He tried to find a balance between talking about the entertainment factors, whilst also providing substance and advise from his own experience on "the" show. I think a lot of the comments on what he got when he participated were initiated by Tess, so can hardly blame him for that.

I am so tempted to go back to see this again. Unfortunately looks like I'm now out of annual leave until April :C I'd really like to see Laura.
For me the biggest disappointments in this were Lauren and Norbert's accents so I'd like to see others in these roles. Harry was amazing.

This reminded me of the legal and moral discussions that came up around the Audrey Hepburn Galaxy adverts. I found this article, it's quite old now, but still an interesting read. Circumstances not quite the same as this is literally the person's image, rather than an actor portraying their story. I guess another recent example would be the Fast and Furious films, or whichever one of the new Star Wars used similar tec to use an actor that had died. Arguably more controversial to use a person's actual face which might be why in these cases the family/estate has been involved.

TBH each dance is becoming more of a showdance/smooth version of the style with the amount of time spent out of hold and not doing figures. Len wouldn't stand for this much faffing!

They've announced the line up for the pro tour next year:
Katya AJ Giovanni Oti Dianne Karen Nadiya Neil Pasha Gorka
I'm surprised none of the new pros are doing it - I would have at least expected Luba to partner Giovanni, but presumably he'll dance with Oti instead. Since tickets have already been out a while, the new names aren't established yet and aren't likely to shift tickets. Who knows they might be added further on into the series, or feature more prominently in the celeb tour?

Maybe with this addition we can keep these other styles out of the normal routines (though I doubt it). We need Len back, he wouldn't stand for all the faffing about!
I'm going to throw my shoes at the next person that rumbas barefoot!

Strictly Come Dancing is adding first new dance category in nearly 10 years
My opinion on these dance styles aside, it kinda negates all of the cries of "but I've not done ballroom before" from the experienced celebrities... but it's only one week and we'll see how it turns out. Just seems we're veering more and more towards the generic style of DWTS, rather than the traditional Ballroom and Latin focus Strictly has had.

Does anyone know if Dancing With The Stars is shown on a UK tv channel as would love to see John Lloyd Young? When Alphonso Ribero was on I used to just watch his dances on the DWTS YouTube channel the following day.

Susannah Constantine has also been announced as this year's Susan Calman/Ed Balls . She will likely end up with Anton I guess. I always thought Trinny would be more natural on Strictly but Susannah is probably more fun and will be entertaining. She was lively in the Jungle a few years back so may not mind letting herself go. She hasn't been confirmed yet, just being reported today.
I'm not sure when the next announcement is, though found it odd for Loose Women to announce Lee as he isn't associated with the show. The announcements seem to be a bit more haphazard this year.
