Is anyone else as excited as I am as seeing Ms Peters Friday week at the Royal Festival Hall?
Anyone else going?
In Sydney every January we have an event called SydFest- the Festival of Sydney- and I remember many yeas ago I saw her at the Sydney Opera House and to out it quite simply, she was amazing.
I have been here now over 10 years and I am aware that she has performed in Sydney since and also as part of the Adelaide Jazz Festival.
I know she's also previously performed at the Royal Festival Hall (I have the DVD).
If anyone is going to bee there and you see me, feel free to say hello.

I cannot wait to see Ms Peters at Manchester next Sunday.
Saw her Gypsy In New York some years ago and love her vocals and performance.
A unique chance to see a true broadway star perform.

Ms Peters is in London. She tweeted pic of herself in front of Seurat's 'The Bathers at Asnieres' at The National Galley stating that every time she's in London she visits the painting

She also visited Mrs Henderson Presents - any of our lucky members there & spotted her?! Yes, she also tweeted a pic of her holding the poster in her hands stating "Enjoying mr fiend Don Black's show before my concert Royal Festival Hall Friday" She also posted a pic with Elaine Paige stating "My friend Elaine Paige and myself walking in 2 Bridges Alley London". However all three pics are somewhat blurry. Disappointing. It's definitely her and it's from her official Twitter feed.

Blimey, I'd HATE to be sitting behind Bernadette Peters at the theatre. I know she's tiny, but her hair ISN'T.

It was alright.... 90 muinutes long, no interval.
She didn't do many of the songs she's known for. And for me there were some odd choices. It started with a overture, including all the shows shes been in. She came on, opening with a sprightly 'Let Me Entertain You' and then straight into No One Is Alone. Huh?? Why kill all enthusiasm with a sad, downbeat song.
Nothing from Song and Dance, or Mack and Mabel.
I cant remember the song order but I do remember she ended with a song she wrote to her dog.

I have mixed feelings that I can't really explain. I loved Bernadette Peters since I can remember and I'm so thrilled I had the chance to see her, I'm still shaking. Agree on the weird selection of songs, and on the order as well. I'm so glad she sang a lot of Sondheim, especially Send in the Clowns. I can't really explain why, but I aslo feel a bit disappointed. Not because her voice is not what she used to be in the 80s, but it looked so much like routine for her. The same jokes she has been telling for the past 20 years, the same dress, the way she always cries during In Buddy's Eyes and Losing My Mind... I think she relies too much on being "BERNADETTE PETERS". Then she had some moments of pure genius, like when she sang "No One Is Alone" very still in the centre of the stage and she had the audience in the palm of her hand. It's not disappointement, it's not the right word. I just expected more, but not from her voice. What I loved about Audra when I saw her in Leicester Theatre is how humble and genuine she was. And Bernadette totally lacked this.

I was thinking about the dress most of the evening... I'm sure i had seen her wear it before, but was convinced she couldnt still be wearing the same dress she wore all those years ago. You're right in that it felt like she was going through the motions. There was no great patter between songs, and what she did she did at the same concert 18 years ago. She didnt seem to show much excitement to be there.
Songs she sang in no particular order: let Me Entertain You No One Is Alone When I Marry Mr Snow Something from State fair Move On Joanna Children Will Listen Losing My Mind Send In The Clowns When You Wish Upon A Star
I came out singing a song she didnt even do, Time Heals Everything!

I'd never seen her live before and I wouldn't pay to see her again. I was really disappointed. Yes, she has a talent for sure (though the voice understandably isn't 100% any more) but that alone isn't enough. It was a flat, disjointed show with a strange choice of setlist (where on earth was Rose's Turn?!), a terrible choice of encore and a lot of tired jokes and mannerisms. The audience would probably have reacted the same way if she'd sung the phone book, but I wasn't impressed.
