I've seen so may python pics in the last few days I think I'm developing immunity! And you must admit that the one on the street sign is cute!

Someone in my street isn't having a good Sunday. I went out early this morning and some time during the night the police have been round and clamped a car for being untaxed. When I got home again the notices stuck to the windscreen had been removed so the owner must have discovered it. I'm wondering how long it will be before the vehicle's unclamped, because the way it's positioned it's taking up two parking spaces in a street that doesn't have enough parking space to begin with.

May have been a little too excited when my niece rang wanting help with her Shakespeare homework.

Which class is she in, peggs? 2B or not 2B? Really Monkey? For your penance I think you should go and drink a big mug of Liverpudlian koala river tea. Oh, and careful you don't choke on the bits. 'Cos we all know, the koala tea of Mersey is not strained.

Being on flexitime I like to work extra hours at the start of the week so I can have more time for myself at the end of the week. Which makes it really annoying when people keep waiting until Thursday afternoon to dump the difficult problems on me because they can't be bothered to think for themselves or search the Internet, and especially so when "a quick question" has me explaining things for over an hour.

I went from being a 'nice man' to having 'a dark countenance'.
I briefly chatted with two elderly women at Gatwick after I let them in ahead in the boarding queue. Encountering them again on the bus from Inverness airport one said to the other "Oh look, it's that nice man who let us in."
Then on going to the supermarket till I was gestured in ahead by another old lady at the checkout. When I thanked her, she said she gestured because she wasn't sure if I spoke English because of my "dark hair and beard" and my "dark countenance". I quite liked that, it made me feel a bit like an old-fashioned villain.
It was probably her polite way of saying I look scowly, which I am often told is the case. (Admittedly my face does tend to lapse into an angry frown when I'm not really thinking anything).

For the next 48 hours I will mostly either be asleep or trying to watch the Tour de France & the F1 simultaneously

There's a time and a plaice for fish puns. Yes, definitely NOT after an act of cod.

Left my job of 9 years today, I start another on Monday but left due to job uncertainty rather than because I wanted to leave. Very odd day. And I now have enough chocolate, plants and random stuff to sink a ship.

And I now have enough chocolate, plants and random stuff to sink a ship. I've just finished my first week in a new job. I definitely made the right decision in moving, but it all still feels a bit weird and I feel on edge all the time as I tend to be so self-critical I feel people are always judging me...

At least with the cycling you know it is the last half hour that will be the most exciting, F1 you can usually tell about 10 laps in if someone is going to run away with it, same with the tennis at just over a set in.

Yes not looking forward to Monday, all that trying to remember everything new at the same time as wanting to appear smiley and calm and neutral about everything until you suss people out.

On theatre trip with niece, have brought her to nt for chips and free WiFi, I think that makes me okay aunt. Of course I did give her a lecture on gender blind casting and gay rights first in my attempts to ensure well rounded human.

I abandoned trying to watch both & just watched the cycling. Now catching up on the F1 qualifying. Today's cycling I actually found rather nerve-wracking throughout. I agree about F1 but not about tennis, given I've seen players have match point then go on to use. Henman seemed to specialise in winning the first 2 sets then losing the next 3!

Dawnstar , have to agree the cycling was nerve wracking, G off the back, DeGent amazingly holding on as Alaphilippe and Pinot did their best to reel him in. Could be one of the best TourDeFrance in years, would love for G to win again but a French winner after all these years would be something else. Was fortunate today as the matinee finished with plenty of time to catch the cycling, sadly not the same for the hilltop finishes next weekend. Here’s to tomorrow’s cricket, cycling and F1 remote flipping sporting trilogy.
