De Gendt was amazingly strong & it was good he got the reward for all that effort. Pinot certainly looks like a major contender & it'll be interesting to see if Alaphilippe tries to hold on for the GC or not.
I'm conveniently theatregoing only on Friday next weekend so I'll be able to spend Saturday having a nervous breakdown watching the Tourmalet. In less good timing, I'm theatregoing the following Saturday so won't get to see the final proper stage live. At least I have no interest in cricket so that's one less sport to try to watch tomorrow!

Well, it's taken me nine years of theatre-going but today I finally did it: I turned up at the theatre on the wrong bloody day! Thankfully, I was early so they just swapped the ticket.

Having a walk along the Southbank tonight after leaving the NT and seeing it all lit up is just beautiful and something I can never get tired of seeing on my trips to the city.

Got stuck in the NYC blackout (an hour in a subway tunnel), but ate a good burger while I waited for trains to come back into service and traffic to calm down a bit!

Have you both been watching that Charlie Luxton programme on Channel 4 on Saturday nights? One more next week, I think.

Started new job today, turns out it's a phone signal dead zone, so no phone communication or WiFi, so there goes most of my theatre booking methinks. Somehow that and the fact that I couldn't even text anyone was more grim than the fact that I'm expected on a train at 7am tomorrow for a total of 4 hours travel to get to some meeting and the fact that no one appears to use any actual full words that are comprehensible.

Well...it's a short series of three programmes on Channel 4 on a Saturday night presented by Charlie Luxton. 🙂 Its 'official' name is London's Great Bridges: Lighting The Thames, and follows work on the £45 million(?) project to properly light all the bridges from Albert(?) to Tower. Rather than hire all those abseilers, with their safety equipment, it could have been a nice earner for you, TM! Well worth watching on catch up.

Can't you book using your work desktop/laptop? I've been doing that for years, even before the company I temp for last year moved into a brand new building with no phone signal. I've never been told not to, in fact I'm not sure whether anyone has ever even noticed!

I don't think so, I've not seen anyone even on the internet and overheard someone today saying there's software that records every key stroke. I mean I'll keep an eye open but people just seem to work, work, more work.

Spider and family of dozens of baby spiders in bedroom, too small to try and move into a dustpan and move them and don't have the heart to hoover them up (to say nothing of the challenge of getting the hoover to the ceiling) so now waiting for room to turn into spider central

Just seen 4G will soon be available on the London underground, and as expected all the responses are people moaning about what they'd prefer. Yes I'd love air con too but can't we at least be grateful for one improvement (if you see it that way)? People just love to complain!

I used to love the baby spiders that hatched above my bed when I was little and it was always sad when they all vanished.

They don't bother me if just rather they didn't all come availing down into bed with me at the same time.

I am sure they will just vanish, you won't even see it happening and they'll be gone. If your window is open chances are they will float away ballooning on silk strands, nature works in clever ways, don't want too many siblings in the same area causing inbreeding.

Walked over the Dome today and then went to see Jamie in the evening. Got an interesting pic out the back of the Gielgud as well:

Well done the teacher for getting the boy support. The bullies will be laughing t'other side of their boring little faces when this lad is a theatrical mogul.

It’s great to see Charlie enjoying going to the theatre and not letting those bullies win. He will have so many great experiences and memories to share with people in the future. I wonder if the bullies will be able to do the same? Well done everyone in theatre land for giving the kid a big confidence boost.

Had a lovely few days away camping just outside Bristol to visit the in-laws. Had a very pleasant day with them but highlights were the spectacular lightning show just after midnight on Tuesday; non-stop sheet lightning for about 20 minutes, then some thunder followed by a downpour! Great stuff. Other highlights were seeing my first Kingfisher YAY!! - only taken 60 plus years... and a Green woodpecker near the tent. We get Greater Spotted on the garden feeders but never had a Green.
The 12 mile walk we had in the heat on Thursday wasn't such a highlight. I was nearly dead on my feet by the time we got back!

My best theatre buddy’s Mum passed away this afternoon.
She had surgery for a colon problem on Tuesday and ended up with sepsis afterwards - very sudden and shocking. She was only in her 70s.
Don’t quite know what to do that will be helpful. Suspect that there’s actually nothing I can do at all.
😢
