How are they gonna find it in the whole of Cambridgeshire? Could someone please build a wall around Cambridgeshire? I'm slightly concerned about it slithering down the M11.

the thought of having a snake wrapped round me makes me feel sick. So long as you remember to grasp the tail and behind the head, you will save yourself. I'm slightly concerned about it slithering down the M11 It'd be dead anyway before it got through the contraflow at junction 12. Apparently a python has been seen on the hard shoulder of the M11 trying to swallow a Nissan Micra........

Someone once told me that snakes make boring pets because they hardly do anything. The impression I received was that you can get much the same effect by sticking googly eyes on a hose, and it saves you having to stock your freezer with dead rats.

I bloody loathe snakes. The worst thing I ever saw in my life was a nature thing where an enormous f***ing python swallowed a live gazelle or zebra or something whole. It was revolting, and has stuck with me 20 years later. I had nightmares about pythons swallowing me or the cat for weeks afterwards.
Small slithery snakes are also awful, but huge giant heaving squeezy ones are the worst.

Give us a shout, Eleanor, if you spot it and we'll be round to give you a hand. (Not)

Given the snake apparently escaped out of a first floor window, a wall probably isn't going to stop it. However if they fancy installing a giant air-conditioned bubble covering Cambridgeshire then I'm prepared to put up with the snake risk for the sake of permanent air con! Actually, I'm prepared to put up with the snake risk for the sake of its Twitter account, which is the highlight of my week!

My recently departed ex (not dead, although that wouldn't be an entirely unwelcome scenario some days) was always pestering to get a snake. On our first acquaintance he was in possession of a tarantula, and it was after the passing of that revolting pulsating beast that the whining about snakes started. Now if you will note my profile picture. - chinchillas, rodents, the natural prey of snakes (at the time 6 of them). Why did I have to repeatedly underline this and say it was not a good idea? Especially considering the spider had escaped one night.
I had to compromise on a lizard.

A few years ago my sister was walking her dog in some woods and her attention was drawn to a tree by the dog staring at it, hanging from a branch was an adder in the process of swallowing a frog whole. The poor very much alive frog was half way in and had the look of quiet desperation that I wouldn't have thought possible from an amphibian. She took a photo hence I know what it looked like and even on photo it scared the whatsits out of me. She said she'd never have noticed it if it wasn't for the dog as it was silent but I've never quite looked at trees or frogs in the same way.

I saw what I think was a grass snake down by the canal a couple of summers ago, and it scared the sh*t out of me. It was huge and slithery and bloody fast. I mean yes, it was trying to get away from me and I know it couldn't hurt me, but I'm not sure I've ever been more scared in real life.

I was crouched by our pond once feeding the fish when I realised there was an adder sat in a basket inches from me cooling in the water, that scared me. Can't think why I have recurring nightmares full of snakes leaping off the ground and wrapping themselves round me!

Many years ago I visited the strangest zoo I had ever seen. It was in Knaresborough, Yorkshire. Many of the animals were wandering around -- goats, parrots, etc. -- but there was a little house that my two friends refused to enter. In it was Cassius, a 27-foot python. Cassius was billed as the largest python in England.
I later learned that the zoo went through difficult periods and was finally forced to close, having been denied a license by the council.

I bloody hope not! A 9ft python is bad enough, let alone a 27ft one. I'm also really hoping there aren't any female snakes loose in the vicinity of Cambridge: Wikipedia says pythons lay 15-80 eggs at a time so if Turin finds a mate we could get a plague of pythons.

I’ve just a read of the news article and the Python’s Twitter page. Both are absolutely fantastic and really did make me chuckle.

In further news about the Cambridge Python, after 4 days of freedom he has finally be found and reunited with his owner and is back in his vivarium. Nice to have a happy ending to the story.
