I've obviously missed the origins of the height of the stage in-joke (Wicked thread dare I ask?) but seriously wished I'd asked someone before seeing The Red Shoes in the front row as I couldn't see their feet! lynette I don't think there's a firm date yet - a few have been bandied about but nothing definite. Personally I wouldn't be seeing a show as I don't like going alone but would do the board meet-up alone, so would come into London specially (and not want to leave too late at night.) So I'm just waiting for whatever date is decided as it's pretty much all the same to me. (If someone could arrange warm weather I may be more inclined to turn up!)

Tibidabo, if you don't like going alone (I almost invariably do this and find it almost inconvenient on the rare occasions when my OH does want to see something and mentions it before I've already seen it or tix have sold out), it might be worth mentioning on here any productions you have in mind, to see if others have already booked?
OK, you would probably still have to sit alone but I'd be happy to look out for you at the venue and have a chat beforehand and/or during the interval; others probably would, too. You also sometimes see from individual show threads that several people find they are attending a production on the same date and announce this in advance if they're open to meeting other members there.

Thanks showgirl - You talk sense and I'll certainly keep all that in mind when I can't find anyone to drag with me to a show. Apart from sitting alone it's the journey home - long and cold - that I'm not keen on. But I'd definitely consider a matinee and maybe after a Theatreboard meet-up it would be easier to arrange hooking up with other members who are at the same performance.

Don't make me scroll through all the posts. When and where is next meet please? I'm over 21 but don't look it (wanna contradict a mod?) female, happy to drink, like macaroons, no dogs, no nudity. See how she casually throws macaroons into the proceedings? Keep an eye on this one!

And now I'm hankering after a macaroon and might have to make some. Damn you lynette! And I don't mean those fancy pants coloured french things. I mean proper COCONUT macaroons with a cherry on top.

I LOVE those fancy pants brightly coloured French (or Spanish) ones! When I am Queen (I'm working on it!) coconut shall be banned from my kingdom (along with modern dress Shakespeare.) But I'm impressed you can make macaroons BB. Will you bring some along to the next meet-up? I'm doing blueberry marzipan mini muffins today if anyone wants one!

Maybe thinking ahead we should decide which of the 2 March dates is best. For me the 18th is ideal but I can do either.

I can only do the 18th. Seeing Dreamgirls on the 25th with the Tibidabettes and I really wouldn't want to subject you lot to them........(or do I mean that the other way round? )

As far as I'm concerned, throwing is indeed the appropriate verb for macaroons, of either type, though not into the proceedings, a la Lynette, but as far away from me as possible. Nasty, tiddly, insubstantial things - give me a big wodge of proper, stodgy cake any time!

I'm seeing R&G at The Old Vic on 25 th so could join in somewhere beforehand. 18 th I'm in Hampstead seeing what someone here calls the kind of thing they put on there... Macaroons by the way are a reference appreciated by some of you I know to a rubbish play ( at was it the NT Cottesloe?) about Jewish family and what they had on the table..or was it another play? Who remembers?

There was a year where macaroons seemed to be in every other play. The one you're thinking of is The Holy Rosenbergs, but there were definitely others.

I can make the 18th or the 25th - I can promise to be not too drunk on either night.

I'm in London both Sats 18th and 25th as usual but on Sat 18th I won't be hanging around as the evening performance is slightly out-of-town, so given the way the trains/tubes are nowadays, prudence dictates that I head there early and use any spare time once I'm in the right area.
Lynette: Think I vaguely remember the play you mention, though not the macaroons - was it Mike Leigh's Two Thousand Years, in the Cottesloe (as it was then) back in about 2005?

As the one who suggested both dates I am now rooting for 25th as I can't do 18th anymore

I live in London so either date could work for me, though on the 25th I've got Rachel Tucker's late night gig at Zedel so was thinking of doing a show first then heading over there. That plan could change though

I will try and come along on either of those dates And to those who were feeling put off by our tales of our 'raucous, drunken evening' - don't be . As BurlyBear stated upthread, any night like this will naturally shape itself around the people who are there. It's also probably important to realise that the drunk part of it was only really at the end of the night, unsurprising considering we were in a pub at 11pm on a Saturday! Whereas the earlier part of the evening, the part that most people were at, was very gentle and relaxed, just a bunch of friends having a good chat over a glass of wine or two.

The 25th works well for me. Or I could do a daytime meet on 18th, but have to be back in Leicester for an evening show (hopefully not too drunk!)

Re March 25th: I'm seeing the 1st preview of The Life at the Southwark, and that starts at 3pm. Still haven't booked anything for the evening show: who is planning to see what that day? Or is it a bit early to ask?

I may go to a matinee then the late Rachel Tucker show at zedel with no evening performance, then again I will probably just come for the meet up then head to Zedel afterwards

Are we going to firm this up as the 25th after matinees?

Zedel is pretty central so I'm not fussy in terms of meetup location!
