In the Strictly Spoiler polling, Annabelle is far more popular than either Angela. That may not be truly representative but could be indicative. We haven't had a shock elimination yet. Interesting. I'll admit, I find Annabelle a bit bland and limited, and have much preferred Angela & Carlos on their good weeks. But then JoJo is one of the best/most charismatic pros so I feel like whoever gets partnered with him gains a bit of an advantage from that.

I agree, I like Annabelle as a person very much but her dancing is not for me.

Next week will be hard to call we have no idea what the public support for anyone outside Angela R is as none have been in the dance off. We can guess Bobby and Ellie as current and former soapstars will have a decent following, Layton is high profile but Zara and Adam went when they could have been seen as likely to be popular. Nigel had been pretty well known for 20 years, Angela S will have Irish backing.
To the general public Annabel could be the least well known but she has the story and Johannes is hugely popular. This week I'll go Angela R and one out out of Angela S, Annabelle and Bobby in the dance off.

Annabel could be the least well known but she has the story. The sacred story worked for Helen last year, keeping her out of the bottom 2 even though Fleur and Molly were better dancers.

Helen's scores were rarely much lower, and were sometimes higher, than Molly and Fleur. It's only really week 10 with her Samba that she looked vulnerable and her popularity obviously saved her over them.
And yes her backstory probably helped but she was also much more well known than them pre Strictly and they were both perceived as ringers. It was Ellie who stayed in over stronger dancers for a while.
Arguably Annabel's in a similar position as other than Layton & Ellie she's not miles behind the other dancers in terms of scores.
This year we have a group stuck in the 30-35 zone, Annabel is arguably the weakest of them but not by much. Last year 7 couples had managed a 37 or higher pre Brighton, this year only 2 have. The quality is much lower.

I think apart from Ellie and Layton, the rest are so inconsistent, getting a 9 one week and a 6 the next.

Helen was a kids TV icon and certainly more well known than Molly and Fleur. Plus Molly was almost half her age and likely stage school trained so people might think she had that advantage too. All 3 ladies reached the final so it wasn't as if any got penalised and we never had Fleur vs Molly in a dance off which would have been hard to call.

A Charleston to Love Machine?!?

I agree with Love Machine being a funny choice for a Charleston unless they do it as a couple bickering and would have to be modern dress and almost slapstick chaotic. All other choices look perfect.

Angela R avoiding another samba and salsa, but they’ve given her an American Smooth when someone else is already doing one? It’s just such a fix.

I can squint and just about believe the BBC wanted to get her to Blackpool for Come Dancing nostalgia but if she's not getting the votes, and that appears to be the case, what possible benefit do the BBC get from trying to fix things to keep her in when she's less popular than other dancers.

and why go to all the trouble if they aren't actually going to do some sort of Morecambe & Wise throw back?

I agree with Love Machine being a funny choice for a Charleston unless they do it as a couple bickering and would have to be modern dress and almost slapstick chaotic. All other choices look perfect. Hrvy did a brilliant Charleston to the La La Land song and that worked. So this could be good. There is usually an external choreographer for this dance so hopefully there is a plan

We hear different choreographers thanked for couples' routines and Vito would be more Latin than ballroom background I'd think.
The extra dancers for the Blackpool routines are always great to watch. I can see Bobby, Nigel, Layton and Ellie having big showpiece numbers.
Angela S' routine may not lend so well to a full chorus line, Annabel has a slower number which I can see being very romantic and throwback although JoJo might want to go full on fabulous with all the Blackpool floor to play with. I don't see Angela R having a lot of other dancers involved in her routine as there could be the potential for her to go wrong.
The extra dancers do make the chance of something going awry greater which could turn things on its head.

Loved that opening number. So much energy and you can't beat some good old disco.

Good for Craig for being honest about faults.
Booing someone for scoring a 9 is ludicrous

Some thoughts:
Loved the opening number and how both the celebrities and judges were involved however for me two things stood out;
Firstly, it really evidenced that Angela R could not keep up. In fact the camera often panned away from her.
Secondly, (again, in my opinion) there was really no need to Johannes to be in drag- especially when there are plenty of other female dancers.
(I just cannot) take to Bobby.
Angela R- thought she did well, but it's her time to go. I don't know what Kai is like as a person, but to me, he is such a gentleman with her.
Annabelle- simply beautiful.
Leyton & Nikita, very, very slick. When he told his Billy Elliott story and the audition, it made me think how fearless kids are.
Angela & Carlos- so in the zone. Carlos' crying- man, he was killing me!
Nikita & Vito- for me, there two are the winners of the series.
Nigel & Katya- despite a dodgy camera angle focusing on Tess' breasts for a second, I though he did marvelously however he wasn't happy.

I didn't see it as Johannes in drag at all, and he certainly wasn't taking anything away from one of the female dancers. How about his friendship with Luba inspired him to express himself and wear whatever he likes?

I find Nigel to be so likeable and watchable I hope he goes forward. Ellie also needs to be in the final of course. Layton will be there come what may. Interesting to see them telling the great British public that Layton has a dance background. Kiss of death for Layton in the finale?

I don’t think Bobby is going to get any better than he already is, let’s see if there’s a fan base that keeps him in, if not he could be gone next week. I thought his jive was good but he definitely dropped off in the second half.
I didn’t notice any sync issues with Layton so I was really surprised Craig didn’t give a 10, but I haven’t watched it back yet.
Angela R looked like she was just being pushed from person to person like she had no idea where she was meant to be. She does all the steps but it’s at an average level, it’s good enough but it’s no where near the rest.
Angela S was brilliant, and although I do get Craig’s point about her leg, that was a 9 and not an 8.
Ellie also should have got a 10 from Craig, I couldn’t spot his issue with the dance at all. He’s really annoying me now by not giving a 10 when he should.
I thought Annabel was underscored by everyone. I thought it was faultless, and I didn’t notice anything about her hands. I would love her to win.
Nigel’s going to be in trouble this week I think, he can’t keep making mistakes.
Angela R and Nigel in the dance off, and if Nigel makes mistakes again then I think he could go.

I totally agree with Matt - a good round up 😊 Nigel needs to work on not looking as disappointed afterwards when the scores are given. Annabel and Johannes are always so elegant, such a lovely partnership and deserved higher scores. Ellie and Vito absolutely should have scored 40. She showed no fear with all those lifts. It’s time for Angela R to bow out now, please and thank you.

Agree with the above points. Poor Nigel needs a better poker face. Craig said Ellie’s dance was one of the best he’d seen yet gave her a 9, what does she have to do. Loved Annabel and Johannes, just beautiful.

I thought it was great when Johannes came on in the same outfit as Luba, it was semi drag and with Layton having been in drag some weeks I expect he wanted to get his female alter ego out one week and the big group number at Blackpool seemed the right place.
I haven't watched the show fully but know spoilers so won't comment on individual dances in case I give anything away.
