Latest rumour I heard was Angela Rippon and that she would be Strictly's oldest contestant. But I believe she has some previous dance experience, dancing with Morecombe & Wise back in the day. What about Joe Swash? Or Stacey Solomon? An iconic sketch with her dancing to Let's Face The Music And Dance. I believe she studied ballet when she was young.

If you can only see 20% of the stage then I wouldn't even go if the ticket was free. I don't see the point in going to see a show if you can't see anything. Even if I was on a tight budget I'd just give it a miss if I couldn't see anything.

Definitely the right thread. Don't think he qualifies as a "famous person".
Just read his Twitter post. I would definately reply to it.

Have to admit that I needed to Google him but I'm still none the wiser, but then I rarely go to the cinema.

Don't forget, regardless of who is announced, to cover most demographics usually there a sporting person, a disabled person, gay/lesbian, a more mature individual, someone young and perky, a comedian, someone black/Asian, someone from either Eastenders or Casualty- have I miss anyone? And several people who most of us have never heard of.

Is this different from the Sinatra thing that was on at the Palladium some years ago?

The WOS article says it will include UK venues and will be in large theatres and arenas between 3,000 and 5,000 capacity so doubt if the O2 will be one this time as that has a 20,000 capacity. Sounds good though and if anything like the O2 concert will be amazing to see and hear. The London venue if it does do a run in London that would match that description is the Hammersmith Apollo, they could go to the RAH as well but I think Hammersmith is more likely. I'm hoping it's not Hammersmith as I hate it and I want to go and see it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the RAH.

I saw an anniversary version of this a few years ago at Stratford East Theatre. It was excellent.

As you mentioned it's already been done and flopped so not sure why anyone would want to try again. I actually saw I Can't Sing and thought itnwas grest fun.

Please god someone give him a London Musical. These one off concerts are just not enough, we need him here for a good few months mainly so that I can go once a week to get my JJ fix.

Jason Manford must be dying in the lion suit on this heat! Apparently not. He actually tweeted at the weekend saying how cool the theatre and the dressing rooms were. But I'm sure it's boiling on stage.

Does a trigger warning mean that there will be gun shots during the show? Is that the bit where the children are playing in the trees dressed in curtains and Captain Von Trap drives along and shoots them out of the trees or is that just my furtive imagination?

I've just remembered another. Funny Girl at Cliffs Pavillion Southend On Sea. Sheridan was off with glandular fever but main reason I left at interval was because I couldn't see anything. Having never been to the theatre before I didn't realise it is more of a mini arena than a theatre and stalls seats are all on one level with no rake. As I'm not 6 foot tall I really couldn't see so left at the interval and got back to London a couple of hours earlier.

Who was it? Surely it's a treasonable offence. Its Damien Lewis, who was rumoured earlier in the thread as being a possible Fagin. I do feel sorry for him, he has obviously been through an awful time. But he has become very cringe, both this and when he was interviewed on The One Show. I thought it was him at first then I started to doubt myself when he started singing. It's strange as he can sing. I saw him in Into The Woods at The Donmar and the Sondheim Gala Concert and he was an OK singer.

I love thin plots! Probably cos I'm thick so thinner the better. This show and 42nd Street are 2 of my favourite musicals so that said a lot. But seriously every musical does not need to have a deep involved plot that taxes the brain. There are plenty if those out there for people. But equally we need some fun musicals that don't require the audience to analyse the plot but just go along and enjoy the music, songs and dancing and come away with a smile on your face. Absolutely true. But you need the performances to cover up for the shallowness in the book. These shows have great songs and plenty of opportunities for dazzling choreography. The lack of depth isn't fatal as long as the production knows what it is dealing with and sets out to entertain not to pretend that it is great drama. Which is exactly what this show does.

Just had an e mail with a survey about Groundhog Day and one of the questions asked if I would go to see it if it transferred to the west end. So presumably the producers are thinking about it.

Thats awful and I'm so sorry to hear it. I'm sure it must have spoilt the show for you. I'm hoping that you were still able to enjoy the show a bit.

Only done it twice in my many, many years of going to the theatre. Once was at a musical at the theatre in The Mayfair Hotel. It was something to do with wags (but not Wags the Musical which I thought was fun). This was truly dire and I can't even remember the name. Then other time was The Killing of Sister George at The Arts Theatre. I wasn't enjoying it but would have stuck it out but left as I had a terrible pain in my back. Next day I was in A&E having my gall bladder removed.

There was a gay nightclub behind the Menier where Maureen Lipman was performing in A Little Night Music. The agreement was that they kept the music volume low until after the show finished. One night the music was quite loud so Maureen went next door into the club mid show in full costume and asked them to turn down the volume. Of course they did so immediately and I'd have loved to have seen their faces.

Been reading lots of reviews and everyone is a rave review for Charlie Stemp. He must be so proud to read nothing but praise (which he so deserves).
I also notice we are now on 2 1 star votes. Such a shame that those people don't put their comments in the thread as it would be really interesting to see why they only gave it that score.

I always feel like someone does this on every show on here just for fun! Probably a bitter cast member from Chichester who wasn’t asked back ! Or ALW on seeing his theatre has a hit and its not his.
