They were back on last night as I was there (finally got to see it via a lucky dip ticket - ended up on the second row!!).
Had a word with Charles Edwards later and he said it seemed to be a "suspected" case but that was quickly resolved. Maybe it was cancelled as a precaution?
Anyway, this show was superb. Spectacular performances from everyone but particularly the two leads. Have never seen much of Mr Harewood but I was spellbound by his acting. Loved the facial ticking.
Also, shocked nobody's mentioned this, but if anybody enjoys the thought of seeing Mr Edwards topless, you're in for a treat.

So is this playing in the West End with the original cast? I thought there were replacements now? All of the new Apollo cast were intact besides Shane David Joseph, should I say. Wasn't aware there had been a revamp until now, I beg your pardon.

FINALLY saw this after a million years last week. A rite of passage for every UK citizen Very good. Mum enjoyed it, being a murder mystery aficionado, but despite that, she didn't catch the killer! I did to my utter shock.
(Well, kinda. I made a comment about {Spoiler - click to view} not fully trusting the detective/copper as he all the hallmarks of the killer, coat/hat/scarf etc.)
Glad to see this was open too (the lady behind the ticket desk wanted this to be the last one standing, lol) so me and the fam grabbed ourselves the front row day seats for 19 bob each. (We got to the venue mid afternoon and there was plenty availability, but then this was a mid week show.)
An absolute steal. I have never dabbled in day seats, and after that night I am never underestimating them again.

The actor playing Matt tested positive for COVID on I think that Saturday (18th). They could have found an understudy for him? Unless more of the cast/crew/YV staff got it as well?
Anyway, the rest of the run is completely sold out for its return owing to all the cancellations and the race to rebook tickets from everyone who had tix for the cancelled shows. Thank goodness for the broadcasts eh?

Saw this as a last minute thing a couple of weeks back, as it was one of the few shoes still open, and I am a big fan of Mischief.
Didn't disappoint. Not as funny as Bank Robbery imo (a show which was so funny I was struggling to breathe at one point) but hugely enjoyable. A couple of tweens next to me were killing themselves laughing. We had all the cast intact except Sophisticato who had to have his understudy take over.
The Mind Mangler segments were my favourite, Henry Lewis is an amazing actor and improviser. He picked on a lad in the audience who was a dress designer for drag queens, and when asked "Do you do it outside?" he replied with "Not dress making, no" and the audience just lost it.

A friend went to the first preview of this last night and shared some thoughts with me: Edwards had the best lines and embodied Vidal very well. Harewood performed good too, but unfortunately forgot some lines. I'll put it down as first-night nerves.
She said there was a lot going on in Act 1 and maybe it needed cutting down a little, but besides that, it was entertaining.
I'm seeing it in two weeks time and will report my findings.
Reviews online all generally positive so far. Early days but Graham could be on to another winner here.
(I'll see how well that comment ages in the coming days.)

That episode is now the lowest rated DRUK ep so far and the 8th lowest in DR herstory on IMDb.
Which is such a shame as Ella killed it, and the reading challenge was great. I was enjoying the episode until the ending happened.

As the mask wearing has become more prevalent in my day to day life, I have begun to get scared. It's not the virus, it's the masks themselves. It's a psychological thing with me I guess. I struggle with eye contact in the first place but now I avoid it even more. I can't read people's expressions with just their eyes. Walking round shops, getting on the bus, and now even at my work, everyone has masks on, and I find it all very eerie, like I've entered a parrellel universe. I feel like all these masked people are glaring at me, judging me, for just existing. My Asperger's doesn't help with this either. These changes has come too quickly and drastically for me and my ability to adapt to change is impaired and it's so scary, I don't like it Idk if others feel similar or am I just... weird? I'm scared to post about this anywhere else too, especially Twitter and Facebook, as someone is bound to get offended.

So imo the top 4 are: Rita = just meh to me. Jimbo = mesmerizing throughout. Scarlett = not a standout but definitely needs more love. Priyanka = liked her to start with but unsure now. There's definitely bias towards Rita though. The denim runway from a few weeks ago really annoyed me. How on EARTH did she win, especially when you compare her to Jimbo's look!? I probably coming across as a major Jimbo stan, but there's no denying how unfair some/most of her critiques have been.
And JBC grinds my gears, he better not be around for s2.

First visit to a theme park post-COVID yesterday. Not as bad as anticipated. In fact it was pretty great!
It was very quiet to start with, and even as the day got busier, you could still enter a ride and queue for maybe 5-10 mins max or not at all, including all the popular thrill rides that would usually have you queueing for 30-60 mins.
It felt incredibly safe and well managed. I got used to the new compulsory measurements (masks on every ride, one way systems, etc), hand sanitiser stations were scattered everywhere, every attendant was masked or visored up, and every so often each ride was stopped for roughly 5 mins so it and the surrounding enclosed area could be thoroughly cleaned before the next guests could enter.
Besides a ride breaking down whilst I was on it, and a drunk couple in a queue claiming to have asthma as a lame excuse to not wear masks (the attendants sadly aren't the police so couldn't queston it, but I'm surprised Blackpool even allowed them in the park in the first place), I had my best theme park experience probably ever.

Was overjoyed when I heard this, FINALLY some good news for the theatre industry.
Was going to see this for the first time in April, until COVID scuppered that plan. Idc if I have to suffocate under a snood for 2 hours, I'm blummin' well going!

Re-watching this production just reminded me of the sheer number of cracking jokes there are in it. The Redditch needles, the manmade fibres line, the "Which war?" bit, the breastfeeding MP, and the one that absolutely floored me was Chelmsford and the Shadow Arts (or indeed any time Chelmsford appeared).
Also Jack counting his winnings at the end was surely, absolutely 100% an ad-lib.
Gosh I love this play. Shame it had to take A PANDEMIC to get it to us.

Does anyone know if the filmed version is from Olivier or Cottesloe? It's the Olivier version, where Reece Dinsdale replaced Philip Glenister as Walter.

Saw this at the Olivier, and then for NT Live, and enjoyed the broadcast especially so much, I had to revisit it at the archive. Many well known former and current MPs went to see it and sang its praises. (Didn't see any when I was at the Olivier though.)
Emotional, funny, clever, just fabulous. Love how James Graham wrote this play without any sort of political bias, and just presented these politicians as actual human beings. I mean... There's a reason why it's in my current avatar. That, plus I have a thing for Charles Edwards 😳
My only concern now is, will the profanity be censored? It is quite sweary; I counted at least 13 f-bombs in the playtext.

Here's my contribution to this thread as everyone on Twitter is doing my FLIPPIN' HEAD IN with all the negativity, and I'm starting to go MAD. Yesterday I fed some horses, got screamed at by a peacock, and got sunburnt on a country walk in my village. I also made a marbled chocolate cheesecake, and gave some to our neighbours next door (via a very tall garden fence) who wolfed it down. It was a great day Also may I recommend, if you haven't seen it already, bingeing Jay Foreman's Unfinished London series? Very well produced, educational, and very funny (Monty Python-esque humour and vox pops).

Hopefully we will get Follies, Curious Dog and Yerma in the next bunch! Both Yerma and, surprisingly, Curious Dog are very sweary. The sort of thing that will keep them off, I think. War Horse would be a good one, though. The one that I would really love to see again is Complicite’s ‘A Disappearing Number’. Interesting you say that. This House is laden with expletives, yet that's been allowed to show. Wonder if the NT will censor it? YouTube has a strict policy on profanity. F-bombs have to be bleeped out if a video wants to be monetized. Not sure if the fundraising aspect changes this but we'll see...

THIS. HOUSE. FINALLY MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED! To see my darling Jack Weatherill again has been a dream since forever...
Also, this quote from exec director Lisa Burger was interesting: "This initiative wouldn't have been possible without the support of a great number of artists for which we are incredibly grateful. We have been absolutely thrilled by the response from viewers enjoying the productions from right across the globe, and we have also been surprised and delighted at the generous donations we've received since closure. Whilst the National Theatre continues to face a precarious financial future, we now feel able to make a payment to all artists involved, as we recognise a great many are also experiencing a particularly challenging time at this moment."

What exactly is the criteria to allow a show (NT Live and/or archival) to be broadcast online to the general public? Surely it's more complicated than just getting cast/directors/everyone involved to waive royalties? Do they need to do that for every show?
Sorry if I sound really stupid but this has been bugging me for years rather than just as COVID came along.

An acquaintance has a friend who went to drama school with Benadryl Cattleprod, and he managed to get his autograph for her and she has it framed in her kitchen at home 😅
I've heard mixed reports about his temprement at stage doors, etc. I did see a video of these fans bothering him at the Nash tho. He had a sore throat and just wanted to go home and was firm but polite, but they just stood round filming him and I'm like... just l e a v e h i m a l o n e

Overheard a neighbour talking about how her husband drove past a barber's the other day, which was STILL OPEN with an enormous queue outside. Apparently it has been reported, and I should bleeding well hope so! In better news, I made some mini sticky toffee puddings with toffee sauce and it was a success, to my surprise. The kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off with all the mess I'd made but it was worth it! I would've shared some with the neighbours, but it was so good I had to keep them all myself

Wasn't sure where to post this (since there's like 3 different CV threads going on), but St Martin's/The Mousetrap had to close last night for I believe the first time since the start of its run!?
I booked via hotelsdirect a hotel/theatre package, and I want to cancel and get a refund for at least the hotel. What's the best way to go about this?
Problem is we don't know how long St Martin's/the West End is meant to be shut for. For all we know it could be back open in a matter of weeks, so I'm a bit stuck here! Help!!

Noticed Twitter is doing the whole "if you hated this series you're sexist" thing, which is getting tiresome.
Well, to them lot, speaking as a woman, Whittaker's era has been dreadful. I was up for Jodie taking over and her first episode was good, then Chibnall's writing kicked in, and I have not watched it since s11. I read the reviews of this latest ep, and to hear what Chibs has done is making my blood boil.
Also Bradley Walsh is too good an actor to be sidelined and underutilised as he is in this show. Also nobody asked for THREE companions, what was the point in that??
If I dare mention this on Twitter I would've been hounded repeatedly, and for the sake of my mental health I keep shtum.

This is truly horrendous. I have nothing much to add, I can only echo what everybody else has said, only that the abhorrent press and the toxicity of social media is almost entirely to blame. People suck.
Rest in peace, Caroline. And in the nicest, most PG way, Dan Slimeball Wootton can go sling his hook. Can't stand his stupid smug face.
