Is anybody reading Lord Lloyd Webber's book at the moment? Opinions on it?

It was worth the wait. Also in tears. Love how extensive the recording is!

I've seen both and really enjoyed both.
Julius Caesar is very exciting, immersive and something you'll be talking to people about for a long time.
The Birthday Party I enjoyed just as much though it's very different.
If you don't know Julius Caesar do a little bit of research, but this is a very clear accessible production.

Also if anybody could give my usual loud noise warnings that would be wonderful. As always I thank you for this as it makes my trips to the theatre much more pleasurable!

Macbeth is my most seen Shakespeare. I enjoyed NTS's one man production with Alan Cumming most followed by James McAvoy at Trafalagar Studios. I've also seen several great student productions including one at RCS. I'm now interested to see how this will compare to these especially given the above comments and word of mouth that I've heard.
I do wonder if Rory Kinnear misses working with Hytner yet. Not that it's been long. How is he in this?

Had Boris Johnson at the Bridge yesterday for Julius Caesar. What was bizarre was that I literally bumped him as I walked past and there was no sign of any security with him...Isn't that a bit strange for such a high profile politician? Amber Rudd at Long Day's Journey a few weeks ago only seemed to have a female friend with her and I would assume her and Johnson as Home and Foreign Secretaries would have equivalent security protection? You're right that Boris might seem to be more of a target though Perhaps his security was just blending in with the crowd. I do wonder what the rules are if he would be able to decide on a distance for them or not. Anyway that's a bit off topic! Nice to see him at the theatre. Maybe he learned him some lessons about politics...

How loud is it exactly? Will I be uncomfortable or is it not too bad...? For several years now, I've brought wax ear plugs with me for loud productions. Cheap from Boots, they mould into your ear and reduce noise levels from "loud" to "normal." Can't tell you the number of times I've had people ask if I have spares with me. That’s a great idea! Thanks for telling me. I’ll definitely invest in some!

I bit the bullet and saw this today!
Had a brilliant time. It was exciting and everything that I hoped it would be. It was very intense towards the end but as others have said it just adds to the thrill of it all!
Great performances and lovely being so close to Ben Whishaw...

Perhaps they were just overcome with emulsion?
I remember Sheridan cried both times I saw Funny Girl.
And yes, although I too missed them from my seat, there’s lighting effects on the stage.

I’m returning to see this a week on Wednesday. What are the opinions from those who have seen it lately? New cast good? How is David Shannon?

Isn't the stage awfully high to be paying £75 for the front row? I'm still on the lottery everyday and wouldn't pay more than that for these seats.

Nope, this is 2018. Celebrity comes from all sorts of platforms these days and straddling three different ‘income streams’ is a surefire way of increasing that celebrity. I don’t think she’ll be going away any time soon. Could you explain that in non-marketing terminology, please? She makes money from her books, from her roles in shows and from youtube videos. Actually, come to think of it she also has an online store and likely sponsorship deals. AND an album coming out? Gosh many income streams.

I enjoyed the 25th UK your. Felt it was fresh and different with lovely orchestrations. I do remember feeling that some of it felt ‘clunky’ without the revolve but would love to be proved wrong this time around.

From Scotland but live in Lewisham (South East London)
Very handy for theatre. 20 minute train to the West End or 10 minutes to the Southbank/London Bridge areas. Handy for the Bridge Theatre!

I thought that My Night With Reg was excellent and would love to see it again. I saw it after the transfer to the Apollo so would love to see it in an intimate setting!
Others...
The History Boys The Normal Heart The Pillowman The Weir
Also having seen only The Ferryman I would love to see Jez Butterworths other plays.

I'm sure Lord Lloyd Webber has some back catalogue tunes that would suit this perfectly. Afterall we all loved Stephen Ward and Paint Never Dries. Perhaps Bill Kenwright could produce and Marti Pellow play the Angel.
I'm sold.

I have to take the side that really, in the world we live in today, who cares if some people cheer at the line!? Also, although the crowd last Friday night were big on the cheering, they did so at good times ie after each song and it wasn't obtrusive. I say these things as a regular theatregoer who never cheers. I clap, clap louder, clap with raised hands or ovate. I suppose everyone has their own ways of showing appreciation for a piece of theatre and mine are more subtle. So long as the audience don't whoop and yell at inappropriate times i'm not fussed! How did you get on with the gunshots? Aha good to know I have a name for myself as the loud noise scaredy cat on here! But thanks for asking! Very well actually. There aren't any real gunshots all sound effects and none are loud in my opinion. I also knew when they were coming. The way the shots sound in the piece fits really well and I think real gunshots in Hamilton wouldn't work so well. If only every show followed suit!

"Nobody would care about this but me" I thought, the first time I saw it and the chatter of the crowd drowned out the opening chords. But somebody does! They're surely supposed to be like a fanfare, the DUN DU-DU-DU-DUN DUN DUN, heralding Burr's entrance, shutting everyone up, and setting up one of the musical themes of the show. But you can barely hear them over everyone else gassing on to their neighbour. I don't understand why they don't mix the orchestra up x 2 just for the first two bars and then kill it completely when you just have the piano on bass notes again, back to a more normal mix. There are so many questionable choice taken by the Sound Designer and team on this show. What were those in your opinion? Interested to know.

Come to think of it, I really liked the effects in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Drury Lane.
I loved the paper aeroplane effect as it looked very realistic from my seat. Also the costume change when Wonka first enters...did it disappear into his cane? Looked cool. And finally at the end when Wonka turns around and disappears through the trap door before his coat falls to the stage - nice ending.

I have yet to see Potter so can't comment on it, nor would I.
I always like the effects which seem magical. I love the end of Phantom with the chair. Wouldn't call it astonishing but seeing the bus fly everyday at the Palladium this Christmas was pretty 'magical'!

Since Burr narrates from the start his character feels complete immediately (to me) whereas Jamael’s Hamilton literally goes on a journey. I was also surprised just how much he sounded like Lin after a while!
