This medley feels really mishmashed - too much going on at once, it’s not making wish I’d seen it.. Which show?

I remember Christian being on when I saw the show. I'm usually geeky enough to know if a cover/understudy will be on but didn't notice until the interval with this. I had listened to the cast recording several times through and didn't notice the difference in his voice!

Having now had the chance to have a proper listen I really like the record. Having heard ‘New York’ and the good word of mouth it was enough to book and i’m looking forward to this even more now.
I think the style of recording actually works well here and the voices both sound fantastic. I hope this gets the mincemeat treatment and orchestrations are beefed up slightly for the transfer. Some electric guitar riffs would be nice on the more upbeat numbers. Not sure on the band number of players at the Kiln but even 4 to 6 would be lovely. I have no idea if anything will be reworked though or if the show will just be ‘dropped in’
I’m expecting a great wholesome evening in April!

I remember the *pause* during Ferryman and the ushers trying to keep everyone seated. It was punishing.

Having read all of the rumours over on the Drury Lane and Frozen threads I’ve gotten quite excited about this. I have been listening to the show again and really enjoying it. I will definitely book a ticket when this opens/transfers in the west end. Just curious as to where and when that may be.
I wouldn’t be too opposed to Damien Lewis. He was the worst part of the Old Friend’s broadcast IMO but he doesn’t *really* have to sing in this.
Whatever the production looks like I hope there’s a sizeable orchestra for this!

There's definitely a few interesting places near the Royal Court but not necessarily 'quick eats'
If you don't mind spending a bit and want some vegetables then there's an Ottolengi on the opposite end of the square on Pavilion Road
Others that I like
- Vardo, Duke of York Square (a branch of the Caravan group so nice small plates and good coffee if that's your thing) - Colbert, Technically quick because it's next door
If you really want to go fast there's places like Pret and Itsu a 10 minute walk heading West on the King's Road.
My vote would be for Vardo!
Enjoy the show!

I have a Barbican voucher but can't decide whether to rebook Totoro, book for this or wait to see if there's something big and good to be announced for the winter season...

I mean it was in a fairly large and very famous Broadway house.

In my head though I always pictured it at the Prince Edward. That being said it's only marginally smaller seats wise.

I would love to see that big ol' production of Hunchback of Notre Dame go in to Drury Lane!

£10 standing now on sale from the first performance.
Next best value for me (someone had with heights) is £37.50 behind a pillar in the dress circle.
Wonder if today tix will do a rush on this.

The Holdovers. Thought it was excellent today. Deservedly award winning lead performance and, I think, a new 'classic' holiday film for grown ups.

I enjoyed 'Sexy' and 'Revenge Party' The rest of it felt oddly shot, written, cast and played out like an extended music video.

They must have had a big name to make them think they could fill Drury Lane? Was Peter Kay going to reprise his Roger DeBris? No idea on Roger DeBris or Bialystock, but Carmen Ghia was the most basic casting idea imaginable (it is who you think it is, probably with a pineapple on his head) and Ulla was going to be someone whose posterior was a source of discussion on these very boards in the semi-recent past. As I understand, both were seen and agreed in principle. I would hope if this does go ahead they have some quality casting elsewhere. Julian Clary?

Quite a long preview period for a show which has already had two runs and a short break between transferring? AND a limited run. It looks to me like they're hoping to quickly extend beyond July provided pre-sales are good.

Article in The Guardian referencing this about how theatre land has a wave of quirky new shows. I, for one, am all for it. Loved Mincemeat. This has my attention and keen to support these shows over the long LW and DM runners. Will be booking my ticket soon!

Can anyone who has seen this remind me of the quote which appears on the light ring above the stage towards the end of act 2. I liked it but have since forgotten it. Is it in the play text? About strength in fear or similar?

Was at the final matinee. I hadn't seen a play for a while so found it all a big heightened at first but settled in and really enjoyed it! I was impressed by how well timed the kicks and sound effects were. To the extent I wondered if there are cue lights for the cast or something.
Still, not my favourite James Graham play and comes behind Ink and Labour of Love for me.
Would be interested in the Broadway response because it feels so 'British' but then they will probably think that's sweet and love how 'British' it all is.
I overhead a lady from the US ask an Usher if she had to pay for a programme. LOL.

Mine is a boring and relatively negative sounding one but I'll continue as I did this year...only booking things that feel a bit special or with someone I will have a great time with. I saw the least shows this past year being more picky and enjoyed them so much more than previous years cramming in everything I possibly could. Mincemeat, Old Friends, Groundhog Day!

Having worked in several theatre which recently re-appointed artistic directors I can honestly say that Indhu is a committed, passionate and generous person. She knew everyone at the Kiln by name, would always chat and buy you a drink at the bar. Not something I can say about other artistic directors I've had the 'pleasure' to work alongside.

Newsies last year at Troubadour Wembley. I didn't get the hype of it at all. I was also in a very bad mood that day which didn't help so the fact that the crowd around me were behaving like a Broadway audience at a school show didn't help. Nothing against the talented cast but the sound was dreadful, I didn't like the design, the barn of a theatre was roasting and uncomfortable, horrible FOH space. I could go on...

Thoroughly enjoyed the matinee today. Definitely more plot driven this year (and even then it’s very slim) but lots of great stuff from Rob Madge and to a lesser extent Louis Gaunt. Francis massively underused alas. We had a “no fly” show - Julian was all hooked up but alas, never took flight. Stagehands came on and he was ushered off. Certainly a bit anticlimactic but a good laugh in act two when he jokes of everyone recovering from his brilliant flying. Lovely tribute to Paul O Grady. Same gags as every year pretty much with some fun moments from Saunders. Always love Julian in this and it was no different this year. What is the tribute to Paul? (Maybe in spoilers)

Had a had a proper listen today walking along the river this really is a fitting tribute. I do wish the recording had some of the current cast rather than the 'celebrities' but for the most part it's ok. I much prefer Secomb as Todd over Michael Ball. I think Michael Ball has his moments. Even in this I think his voice really suits 'Loving You' but he's not a Sweeney Todd for me.
Similar feelings about Rob Brydon and Damien Lewis. Like them both a lot in other things but could leave them here.
Boy this orchestra. Was it still only 14 pieces then? I believe there are a few small changes now eg no Timps but DO THEY SOUND GREAT! If every 14 piece orchestra sounded this good we'd all be happy.
Not a Day Goes by was incredibly moving live and I'm glad we have it on this album to capture that moment with the slideshow.

I thought Jeremy Secombe stood out in an understated way amongst the men. There were no showy, extravagant moments but what a great, solid voice. Agreed. Really wish it were him on the cast recording rather than Ball for Sweeney, I feel the same about most/all of the OG tv cast!
