Apparently I'm travelling 200 miles to see Wicked tonight on the off chance I'm right and Samantha Thomas is Glinda tonight. (I'm around 70% sure she will be, I wont be disappointed anyway) And on Wednesday I'm seeing the opening night of Shrek in Sunderland.

Going again in July, October and December. Oops. All grand circle, all £37.50. Ive seen it from the Stalls on my initial viewing so I'm quite happy with that.

Tell you what, what a waste of that beautiful announcement video. They should of done that one for Rachel and Suzie. Totally agree! Why didn't they do this for the 10th anniversary cast? They were the 10th anniversary cast after all, its a little strange that Alice and Sophie are getting all the poster and publicity when in another 10 years time they'll just be another cast that came and went (Well Sophie will, I'm pretty sure Alice will remain in people's memories as a half decent Elphaba)

It's such a shame because I've seen Sophie 4 time (I go for Alice), and I can see and hear the potential she just needs another 5 years to fulfill it.
Also Wicked truely believe this is a strong cast otherwise they would have spent so much on advertising this cast and this cast specifically.

This was the first show I saw in London. I travelled all the way down on the megabus by myself. It was pretty magic to me - I was so devastated when it closed. Please bring it back in a proper theatre for a few more months.

Im hoping to see some interesting shows while its on tour. I cant commit the time to dash to interesting shows in London. I saw 3rd cover midwife on one of my trip. Its not the elusive 5th cover, but we all have to start somewhere!

I live in student accomodation and someone in my block decided to cook garlic bread in the microwave (Which you shouldnt do because its not microwavable) but more importantly my room is above the kitchen ans my entire room stinks and no matter how long the window is open or how much room spray I use the smell won't go away

When Dillamond requests to deviate from the "baaaaaaaaaaaaa" as it is written in the score, you know you have problems! baaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa (to the tune pf defying gravity) Now that's a goat!

Until this thread I didn't realise that specific riffs had names. I'd just be like 'the thing she does on that word that is a G and not an E#' Call yourself a fan... Have you not read The Riffery?! ☺ Im educated now. (Just not the biggest fan of riffs everywhere)

Oh how I just wish Wicked London would cut the riffs ocassionally. Even though I do think theyve been limiting Alice, she still does TONS of riff but after December when she was literally riffing every line at the end of Defying Gravity its almost like they've went to her 'pick two riffs per song'. (Although I do love a good melt riff during TWAI)

Glad I read this thread before booking.i was originally going to get £37.50 tickets for Sunderland but after reading this I opted for the cheapest £17.50 ticket.
Ill just be glad to see it I was obsessed with the Shrek films growing up so it'll be nice and sentimental and fun anyway.

Isn't that to do with which direction it goes when you curl one out according to whether you're in the northern or southern hemisphere? That's the coriolis effect:) Anyway, I'll contribute to the subject while I'm here. I've met nothing but nice actors. Some nicer than others. The nicest guy I've ever met is Adam Bayjou though. He's incredibly sweet if you can approach him.

Currently cooped up in the library trying to write a paper about photosynthesis and I just need a little bit of relief from being a biology student for 5 minutes. Thanks for that guys.

I'm totally okay with them changing the Glinda line up and not touching the Elphaba line up for another year.
As for the ages, it's quite apparent they want to cast younger. Sophie is 24, Maria is under 30. While Alice is the older, Laura is 27(?). At times Alice does look a little old to supposed be playing a university student.

On the megabus home from London after the show. It was certainly worth the long and tiring megabus journey and the dayseat queue wait to catch Laura as Elphaba.
First off, the day seat view (A27) was amazing, so perfect and unobstructed, it's going to be hard to go back to my pre-booked seats after that experience. I was practically part of the show emotionally? (I'm half a crazy fangirl that tears up when she walks into the auditorium) I would happily day seat every trip to Wicked from now on.
Laura, give the girl more time and shows and she's in the running for my favourite Elphaba. She has all of those bits of Alice I like, but it's just a little bit softer and thank goodness Laura isn't shouty! Laura's voice is lovely and clear as a bell, completely different from Alice's grittier, darker voice. Their voices fit how they both portray Elphaba. Sure Laura isn't as nuanced and developed YET, but give her more time and we could have another great Elphaba on our hands. I know they just promoted Alice from standby, I wouldn't be mad if they did the same with Laura. I will try my best to be back to see both of them once more before they (hopefully don't) leave
I would talk about the rest of the cast but this is the fourth time I've seen them, and I was really there for Laura and to introduce my friend to Wicked (She enjoyed it, she was just too tired to fully appreciate it, we're going to give it another go on tour). Just let me say that while I know this thread has mixed opinions on Sophie as Glinda, I'm becoming more and more of a fan every time I see her. She's finally becoming a convincing Glinda. (I still prefer her Act 2 to her Act 1) I wish she was staying another year, but from everything I've seen I don't think she is.
Now I will stop ranting and let my friend sleep against my shoulder without typing away.

Real quick question, do I have to buy yet another programme just to get Laura Pick's standby slip?

Our coach is supposed to get into Victoria at 8am, so it looks like we'll grab a McDonald's breakfast to eat on the steps of the AV.
Luckily if we don't get day seats we're both students and we'll go to the matinee instead.

How does the day seat queue usually go down on Saturdays? My friend and I are taking a very spontaneous trip to London and I know Alice is on holiday so I'll be see Laura Pick.

Today's my birthday and the complementary stagey gift of the year was the 2018 Hamilton calender. I am not disappointed. (Also my birthday is the same day as Alexander Hamilton which is probably why my mam thought to get me it)

The price of seats on this tour are obscene. They are completely obscene, I'm looking at tickets for the Sunderland stop and I can get a similar view for cheaper on the West End production?!

Fencing (the sport with swords, not garden fences) preseason is exhausting me, but it feels pretty good to be back at university despite the crushing amount of work I have to do for next week.

Check nothing is broken and get the girl some ice for when she's off stage. I read somewhere (Innuendo/Outuendo forum), that they always have a standby. So a few years back when they where having an Elphaba crisis. They had an emergency standby for the emergency standby who was on stage. Someone who wasn't in the show covering for another person who isn't in the show.

I'm a huge programme fiend (I get one from every show I go to). My favourites are the A5 booklets, complete with a full cast and creative team, a little theatre and show history and a few glossy production photos. Shouldn't be more than £5 either.
Wicked programmes really annoy me. They're A4, £8 And crammed full of production photos. While I love the show and the photos are lovely to look at storing them is a mess.
I don't mind the Delfont Mackintosh Programmes really. I just wish they weren't so thick with advertisements.

The vacation and injury cover nature of the US puzzles me. While it makes sense it also means that understudies have less of an opportunity to perform. On Broadway however they have an Elphaba standby and an understudy, no second understudy (I'd have to consult a playbill for Glinda, but they're all at university.)
Also drives me made that the US doesn't assign priority to their understudies (like 1st and 2nd cover), how do they decide who goes on?

On the subject of Nessarose, shouldn't Sarah's contract be over at the end of this month. (Assuming she signed a 12 month contract when she joined) makes me wonder if they're going to hire a new Nessarose or if they will officially make Rosa lead and hire a new ensemble member to also understudy Nessa (and maybe Glinda? Can principals understudy other principals?)
Last time I was at Wicked there was a badly cut strip of paper in my programme about a new dance captain (possibly a male Alex, I lost the slip of paper. I only know it was there because my friend had one.)

If I'm not mistaken the midwife isn't even a part that credited in the programme (I'll check when I get home). No idea why the midwife is credited on the cast board. Midwife is mentioned in the programme, alongside Witch's Father and Witch's Mother. I knew Witch's Father and Mother we're, I wasn't sure on Midwife. I think the understudy slips of America's playbills are a good idea and should be incorporated in programmes here. I do appreciate Wicked being a slight step ahead in having standby slips.

It does make me laugh that cover pages deem the midwife as significant a role to get its own announcement when the midwife is on all of five minutes. If I'm not mistaken the midwife isn't even a part that credited in the programme (I'll check when I get home). No idea why the midwife is credited on the cast board.

Chickened out of getting a musical theatre tattoo today. But on the bright side I've packed to go back to University on Sunday. What were you gonna get? I finally got my first tattoo last October. The line "no day but today" from Rent. Didn't hurt at all. I'm getting a Wicked tattoo, I chickened out of the consultation purely because there was an awful lot of people in the shop when I went for it and it was rather intimidating when I myself only have one tiny tattoo on my wrist. I'm still gonna get this tattoo, just not as soon as I'd like.
