I wonder why they designed that effect with a hydraulic lift when it’s clearly unreliable and doesn’t even look that good when it does work. They could have just hooked her on wires and flown her properley. I've seen videos of amateur productions that use wires and smoke around her feet and sends way more chills down my spine. Way more magical. Probably something to with safety? However I'd say Glinda's bubble is less safe than the lift.

Tonight was described as a "half-fly" show anyone care to elaborate?

Maybe it's because I'm a huge fan of the John Laurens/Philip Hamiltom character but I think Cleve September's nomination is well deserved. I don't think the award is in order, after all the role itself is just forgettable. For such a small role, he does absolutely wonders with the nuance and bringing in historical context of the character. He certainly beats out most other actors who have played the role for me.
However in that category I'll say what I said to my friend 'I'm rooting for Cleve, Jason deserves it, but Mike will get it'

Beautiful at the Sunderland Empire theatre on Wednesday. My friend sold me her ticket half price because she has an audition for a musical theatre course.

may be a stupid question but have to ask anyway: If i book for Hamilton on a wednesday evening, how long does it take before the show to get in and get the ticket, queue and all? was thinking about booking a show for matinee in the area around Queens Theatre, grab some food afterwards and then travel to the Hamilton theatre, is that too much stress or easy possible? I saw Hamilton after Les Mis matinee and ever stopped at stage door. Made it in plenty of time. You can walk down to Oxford Circus to get the Victoria line or use Piccadilly Circus to get to Oxford Circus. If you cut of the stage door time as well, you'll have plenty of time for food.

Confusion between the upcoming film and broadway because I was under the idea Jessica Vosk was replacing Jackie Burns for the 15th anniversary. Why would broadway need to stunt cast that bad, it's still one of the best performing shows. Also when ever I hear her singing, I hear Glinda. I know she aparrently has 4 octaves of range so she can sing what she wants. Also her diction is shocking, how can you cast her in a show where you have to sing live?

Saw the show again last night, and Sophie was like a completely different Glinda. I don't know if it was seeing a show without her that has made me appreciate her as Glinda more, but that doesn't make sense because I adored Samantha. I feel like it's taken her a while, but she's finally getting somewhere with the role.
Alice was phenomenal as usual, a little more shouty than last time but she described her 'Saturday night blow out' to me at stage door. (The only riff of her's she didn't do is the melt riff). Being sat in A25 stalls, (yes I daysat in that weather) gave me an even bigger love for Alice and her amazing nuanced performance I could practically see her think. If her voice can't sell it for you, her acting could. I do wish she wouldn't shout though.
Understudy Fiyero (Tommy Andrew Hargreaves), it was nice to finally not see Bradley. But he didn't sell it for me, I couldn't see any sort of resemblance between his act 1 and act 2 character. My friend asked at one point 'Did he switch character?' He was incredibly posh and self centred in act and just a huge ball of anger in act 2, no explanation. He certainly looked okay though.
Melanie walks away with the show as per usual.

Me and my friend are braving the trip to London on the megabus, we've assesed our route and no roads are closed and we're keeping a close eye on them all to make sure nothing happens. Unless something does happem megabus are anticipating minimal delays through the night. So hopefully we'll get to London and get those wicked dayseats.

She shouldn't be needed in 2 places at one because as well as the universal standby, they have a standby for the sisters in each company. Often the standby is the only cover for Eliza or Angelica so that's when she would be needed. The only thing I dont like about Hamilton understudies is they have a relatively large ensemble of people to choose from but for the sisters, there is a standby, an understudy for all 3 and then an addition Peggy/Maria understudy to cover their bases. Why can't they spread the roles out a little, there is a female ensemble of 5 and then swings.

Devastated because my friend has decided (without any input from me even though I've paid for everything) we're not going to London at the weekend because of the weather. This is my last chance to go until July and I just really needed a trip down there to see Wicked and cheer myself up. That sounds really unfair, sophizoey, and the weather down south is supposed to be milder by the weekend anyway. Can you find someone else to join you, or go alone? Plus your friend should reimburse you for any costs already incurred on her behalf, and shouldn't expect you to be willing to make any more plans with her, let alone to pay upfront for them. I've talked her into risking it. Unless it gets worse or our coach gets cancelled we're going to go. Just don't know if we'll get dayseats for Wicked what with delays and all.

Give Adam Bayjou the job. He's one of the most praised understudies on the West End right now and it would finally give him the chance to be lead Jean Valjean which after seeing him twice he could totally pull off.

Aha I heard you! Nice to know it was someone on this board! Was it you that said you haven't seen it since...January? January 29th, which isn't very long at all but after my trip on Saturday I won't be going until after the university year is over due to exams. (Official end of exams is June 6th, but it'll be July because I'm going to see Hamilton again!) I was very surprised that they asked me to be on radio, I talk too fast and my accent is so strong.

Sophie and Alice had another radio appearance today on BBC Radio London. They are really pushing the press for this cast and I can't quite tell if its because this cast isn't filling the seats or because Wicked UK really enjoy this cast.
(Also in the radio interview you can hear an appearance from my thick geordie accent. She asked for return viewers of Wicked to get in touch so I did, low and behold they put me on to speak to Alice and Sophie whicch made a little bit of a mess, I'm still going though the crazy fangirl stage.)

I'm with Shady on being from the North East (specifically Newcastle), as a student it is usally better value for me to get the coach both ways to London and get a dayseat or student ticket of some sort than it is to get a decent seat at a regional/touring productions. However I have found a lovely seat at the Sunderland Empire that is always sold as restricted, but really it isnt too bad (and half the price of the seat next to it)
Also I have quite a talent pf showing up to see understudies on very little notice despite my location.

I'd love to get the chance to see Aimée as Nessa, sadly it won't happen this weekend (can't go tonight, won't make it to London in time for the matinee and I already have tickets for the tour tomorrow evening). I wonder who'll be standing by as Nessa then, surely they'll have to get someone in? Seeing as there's no other Nessa cover within the current cast No doubt Natalie McQueen or Zoe George are present. Natalie was there on monday standing by for Nessarose while Aimee was Elphaba.

I have one thought for the day: Who needs wisdom teeth?
Mine have decided to now make an appearance and its painful. Im probably going to have to have them cut out as well because there is no room for them in my mouth, I've already had teeth out because of overcrowding.

I'm turning out to be the worst team captain ever. Fell asleep before I was due to leave for my fencing match and am now running late, not to mention I'm going to get there an have an equipment crisis.

I'm pretty easy to impress to be honest. You don't grand special effect to wow me. One of the stage effects that affected me most is probably during Empty Chair at Empty Tables when they cast the huge shadows of Marius' friends on the back of the stage. I know thats incredibly simple lighting but it gets such and emotion out of me.
As for astonishing and kind of 'how is that done'. Flying car at Chitty and I was about 8 years old. Don't think anything will beat that for me. (It's mot that astonishing but I was 8 so I would think it is)

At 19 years old I think my back is about to give up. I had to go home from a lecture today because I couldn't sit up straight anymore. Can young people have arthritis, because I've been having trouble with joints for years?
On a positive note the pancakes I made today were a solid 8/10. Just wasn't confident enough for the flip.

Wicked at 5 times is currently my most seen, I have another trip to London booked and many more for the new tour in my head.
I'm a serial offender of many shows unfortunately. I've seen very few shows only once. My excuse is that I like to make use of touring productions while they're here because my logic is I don't have to spend £50+ on transport.
Other multiple viewings are Hamilton (just once, but two more trips booked) and Les Mis and many a touring production.

I really hope thats true, Alice is my first Elphaba and a stand out to me and I would hate to see her go so soon. As for Sophie, she's more than welcome to come back when she's a little older because I still think she has potential as Glinda, but as for now recast her and cast a Glinda who is the same age as Alice.

I wonder if it's just the difference between being a first time viewer or seeing the last tour I think that hits the nail on the head, I was sat next to a few repeat viewers of the last show who were completely unimpressed by the end of the first act. If the last tour was grander, I can understand why you would see this one and not be too happy about it.

Well this was throughly enjoyable. I laughed through the majority and it and Steffan Harri gave a great performance as Shrek. I wasn't as convinced with Laura Main but she was still good anyway. Disappointed about the Snow White verse being cut from I Know it's Today and the puppets ... weren't great.
I didn't see the previous tour, but I did see an enjoyable and great show (the best show I've seen in Sunderland) I would and probably will go again while its here.

Tonight was totally worth the trip. I know many of you are getting over your 'obsessiveness' with Rachel Tucker's departure but every time I see this show it gets a little bit more special. It wasnt the most riffy show (no melt riff!), the ensemble lacked energy.
However that's the best showing of wicked I've ever seen. Alice Fearn never fails to take me on a emotional journey and Samantha Thomas was so ethereal and regal as Glinda, I can't quite believe she's a cover and that its only her tenth? time as Glinda.
She managed to be funnier than Sophie in a whole show in the space of 30 seconds. Her acting and emotion were spot on for her very naive take on Glinda (it was so nice to see a happy sad For Good, sad because they're never seeing eachother again but happy because they're reflecting on all the positive thing they brought each other.) I'll stop rambling.
Samantha Thomas as Glinda is sublime, her voice is gorgeous. I would have her pver Sophie any day.

Travelled down just to see Samantha. (just knew it was going to be her as Glinda)
Also can we not make comments on Sophie's absence this time round, her Grandfather has just passed. (and Maria has a booked holiday)

Just booked a trip to Wicked with around 7 hours to spare, which if that wasnt stressful enough I live 200 miles away and I'm still not in London.
EDIT at 18:19: I came on the chance that Samantha Thomas was playing Glinda after Sophie is in Wales and standby on holiday and thank goodness I was correct.
