No sign of any £15 front row seats on the dates I looked at, but got a £25 row A seat near the end of July.

Saw this last night from a seat at front of the slips (must make a note not to sit there again, yes it was cheap but I couldn't see what was happening on the extreme left hand of the stage without leaning right over, and it was so high up it was like being sat up in the roof of the O2) and while it wasn't quite the masterpiece I was expecting from some of the reviews I've read, I was still rather impressed.
It didn't really get off to a good start, mainly due to a large number of...well I'll be kind and call them idiots, but they were whooping with laughter throughout the first 10 minutes or so like they were watching a Ray Cooney farce (there was some drunken heckling from the circle when Cranston went and sat in the audience near the end as well), and some of the camera work reminded me of Drop The Dead Donkey rather than the film. But it slowly slipped into gear, and Cranston was indeed great, although the Henshall/Dockery scenes didn't really add that much to the story.
Not sure why some of the diners bothered, there was one gentleman in particular of an ,um, 'larger disposition' sat bang in the middle who seemed more intent on stuffing his face and chatting to his dining companion rather than watching what was going on or applauding as everyone else was, and what I could see of what they were eating didn't look like it was worth the price either.
I wouldn't mind seeing this again from a stalls seat, but I know that is unlikely unless I get lucky in the Friday Rush, and I think a lot of the novelty might wear off seeing it a second time.

After finally getting the code an hour after the 'presale' was supposed to open, and the code not being recognized at the first half a dozen attempts, have got tickets to see the Rolling Stones at the Olympic Stadium in May. A 'snip' at £100 including fees for standing, but I drew the line at paying £200 for a seat miles from the stage, ortons to go in the Golden Circle. Not expecting an amazing view of proceedings, but it has to be better than the view I had when I saw them in Hyde Park 5 years ago. Hyde Park is just about the worst stadium-sized venue in the country. It's extremely flat, and as the neighbours are disagreeable nimbies, the music is about as loud as a dropped pencil on the floor. There's zero point in attending a show there unless you have an overpriced GC ticket. The sound was actually pretty good when I saw the Stones there before, clear and loud, and I could see the whole stage, but the fact I didn't have one of the various gold/platinum/V.I.P. tickets on offer meant I was stood miles back from the stage looking at what (from a distance) looked like an ant playing a guitar. That combined with the total lack of organisation (there was supposed to be more than one stage but there were no signposts to show where they were and none of the stewards seemed to know where they might be either, and the queues to buy anything were ridiculous (queues of best part an hour to buy drinks - and any merchandise? fugett about it) meant I wasn't in a rush to see them play Hyde Park again, although I'm going to see The Cure there in July so I must be some sort of glutton for punishment.

Four more dates at the Royal Opera House in July announced : ROHMight try to get tickets, but they certainly won't be cheap (also tempted to try for tickets for The Rolling Stones when they go on sale but the price of those will make the PSB shows seem cheap as chips)

Unless its has a stellar casting along the lines of De Niro and Pacino, Waiting For Godot can be put to rest for a very long time.

Looking at those comments, I'm not feeling any enthusiasm for this at all - thinking I'll probably do a Parsley and not bother going.

Going to Lille with my father next month for the St. Patricks Day weekend, then going there again by myself to see the Jesus and Mary Chain in June, and have also booked to see the Human League in Brussels in October. Will see how funds go but hope to go to the U.S. before the end of the year, I have only ever been to NYC when I've gone there before (3 times) so would like to try somewhere different (thinking about LA, Miami or Chicago).

Looking at whats on offer, nothing really getting excited, but thats possibly (probably) me just being superficial and shallow because there are no casting announcements. I'll wait and see before committing to anything.

Saw Ian McKellen at the Q&A for A Touch Of Love last night at the BFI, when King Lear was mentioned, he said '100 performances' to which someone shouted out 'theres not many tickets left!' and Ian replied 'no!' in a not exactly jolly fashion, I got the impression that maybe he wasn't that keen to do as many as 100 performances of this...

Today Tix doing £15 tickets for the pit on certain dates during March - got myself one for the end of the month. Will have to try to take it easy during the day in case I get over excited and keel over during proceedings...

Was the queue from hell when I tried booking at noon, just gone back and got in straight away, got row A stalls for early August without any trouble, but just wish I'd had the opportunity to pick my own seat. Expensive but still cheaper than No Mans Land (in the West End anyway).

Saw this last night and thought it was OK, without being anything spectacular. Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins and Michael Stuhlbarg were all excellent, but I just thought the film missed that certain something to make it really come to life.
Personally I think Phantom Thread, Three Billboards and Dunkirk are all better films, but I can see this being the sort of thing the Academy really going for come Oscars night.

Going to a preview at the BFI next week, I also loved Pans Labyrinth but to tell the truth, haven't been that keen on much of Del Toro's output since then (I thought Pacific Rim was dreadful, God knows who decided that needed a sequel).

I thought this was excellent, easily Andersons best film since There Will Be Blood. Hard to really describe the film in a few words without going into spoilers - it certainly will not be to a lot of peoples taste, but I hope this sweeps the board at the Oscars. I'm hoping DDL is going to get bored after resting a while and that this isn't the last we see of him - his performance in this isn't as full on as Bill the Butcher or Daniel Plainview (the nearest we get to any Milkshake speeches are some exquisitely timed F bombs) but it is excellent all the same, but the performance of Vicky Krieps is just as good (some people might even say she is better than Sir Daniel)

I don't think this is even going to be screened in Liverpool - not even at the Fact arts cinema (at any rate, I couldn't find it in their listings) though it was in the default Picturehouse trailer before Three Billboards. Are we deemed not posh enough? Ditto, Waitrose - they have a Mersey poet doing voiceover for the adverts but there is't actually a branch here! I've got mixed feelings about Daniel Day-Lewis - I'm always conscious that this is a capital-P Performance when I'm watching him, but the director's interesting. It is indeed going to be on at Picturehouse at FACT : Picturehouse

I'm going to see this tomorrow night at the Royal Festival Hall, introduced by Paul Thomas Anderson and Jonny Greenwood, and with a live score from the London Contemporary Orchestra (I'm presuming the fact they're doing this 'live' with the LCO means they're planning on doing this sort of screening more than once around the world). Expensive, but (hopefully) worth it.

Not exactly shocked, but still saddened to hear tonight about Mark E Smith passing away. I never got to see The Fall live (they were the sort of band I'd thought would always be around, and wasn't in a a particular rush to see), but unfortunately now its too late - here is hoping someone with more money than sense piles a lot of money into making a jukebox musical using The Falls 'hits'

Luke Barnes (Rast from Game of Thrones) at the Royal Court on Saturday - took a while for me to realise who he was, I thought he was maybe someone I might have vaguely known from work rather than an annoying bastard from GoT who got his comeuppance four years ago.

I saw this tonight and wanted to echo what everybody else said. It's hilarious, heartbreaking, shocking, grotesque, heartfelt... I was so surprised to see the backlash against the film on Twitter, mostly centred around the racist cop having what people call 'a redemption arc.' I'd be interested to hear what people think about that. I didn't see him as being the fully redeemed, 'heroic' character that many thought he was depicted as being. One of the things that I love about Martin McDonagh's writing is that he doesn't ever depict his characters in terms of good guy or bad guy - they're human, flawed and frustrating. {Spoiler - click to view} I thought that was the whole point of the film - there isn't a tidied up, 'clean' ending relating to the murder of McDormands daughter, it was all about the redemption of Rockwell and McDormand?

Thinking back about my review above, and after seeing Ross Noble on Sunday Brunch this morning and thinking back to last weeks show, I think maybe I was a bit harsh with my comments below, I did really enjoy it. More than Hamilton (just saying, no need to start a riot).
