Wow that was so easy! Email came through a few minutes after 10 but once I clicked the link I was basically straight onto the booking page. Got one of the £50 seats at the back of the stalls for the second Saturday matinee. Either the lack of Ball and Boe has brought demand right down or lots of people are hesitant to book after what happened in December I guess.

If you can't have Su Pollard, why not go for her modern equivalent... Ginny Lemon! Fancy a slice? Except instead of coming down the staircase in the title number she goes up it and walks off the stage

The best way to move on from this and support Curve is by buying a ticket to watch The Color Purple stream, featuring a full cast who are committed to playing their parts correctly and spreading a positive message. It is also, btw, outstanding. I watched it last night. I urge everyone to watch and support this show and theatre. Yes I would like to. If I pay, can I watch it from Spain? Sunset Boulevard at Curve was available worldwide besides America so hopefully this should be the same, I guess it will say on their website.

Someone I think would be amazing with the comedy angle is Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend). Lots of the songs in that show were more comedy-based but I still reckon she has the chops to rival Sheridan. It probably wouldn’t happen as she’s not that big a name over here but if the rumoured Broadway transfer of this production ever happened she’d be the perfect choice.

Patti in Sunset, probably her last night when there was a set malfunction and she sang for the audience during the show-stop.
And to be honest it has to be Idina and Kristin in those first few months of Wicked Broadway, it must have been so special.
(These will be really recent for a lot of you but I’m very young 🙈)

Ok so Ginny just walking off was ICONIC on its own but I’m so disappointed that they cut her supposedly telling Ru to f*ck off beforehand (according to rumours from the Daily Fail), that would have been tv gold.

I thought everyone was SO strong this week, besides obviously LaLa’s final look and a few other misses. But Kandy, MISS KANDY, my god. I don’t think I’ve ever hated a contestant so much. Her behaviour on untucked was appalling and I hope Tamisha will keep putting her in her place, a complete class act.

Would love the Rodgers and Hammerstein in a proper full production - the Cadogan Hall concert was a DELIGHT in 2019. Dianne Pilkington would make a wonderful Marie (reprising her performance from the concert) and I'd love to see someone like Clare Halse as Cinderella. And Mazz as the stepmother again!

Wasn’t there some clue to do with Billie in sausage’s first appearance? That could also point to Sheridan because that’s her son’s name, something that obviously not many people would know.

Season 13 starts New Years Day so presumably available on netflix from the next day, and UK Season 2 from the 14th of January on iPlayer again. Interesting to have both at once but I think we’re gonna need plenty of good tv like drag race to get us through these next few months.

Possibly an announcement with a planned reopening date coming Friday?
This does seem like one of the more viable shows to reopen socially distanced with the relatively small cast and (I assume) not too high running costs. It’s definitely an uplifting show that’s very relevant to the word we’re living in today also.

Well that was... that was something. As always it’s incredibly commendable trying to put something on during these times, I’ll leave it at that!

I'm surprised no one's made a thread for this at all considering the amount of Drag Race fans we seem to have on the board!
Started previews at the Garrick yesterday starring Courtney Act and Monet X Change plus Vinegar Strokes and an ensemble of UK drag talent. I'm off to the matinee tomorrow after scoring a reasonably priced ticket from the theatre cafe ticket agent.

This is my fourth cancelled Six show this year. You should try for two more to make it a better story! Funnily enough this cancellation actually does mark my 6th Six visit ruined by covid!

Also god help me when she sings fhe words “I don’t want to be alone, that’s all in the past. This world’s waited long enough, I’ve come home at last”, the TEARS I predict, I’m gonna be a state.

PSA for anyone who wants to see John (most of the bored I imagine) he said a full performance schedule for his dates will be announced soon. Hopefully before booking opens!

Oli Higginson and Molly Lynch are back for this Are these the same 2 people who were in it before? I'm not familiar with either of them. They are yes. If you saw the last Sunset Boulevard tour, Molly was Betty for that and she also went on a few times in Dove Cameron’s place in Light in the Piazza last year.

I've had an email from See tickets saying that tickets are on sale for performances from 4th August although on the website they only start from 29th Sept so could be that it's opening earlier than expected I highly doubt it’s going to be reopening at the Arts from the 4th of August. To adhere to the social distancing rules they’d end up with an audience of about 100!

My top 3:
3. Amy Ross: She’s probably my favourite Elphaba in terms of acting. I just loved her portrayal and really connected to her Elphaba, I know quite a few others did too. She just had that special something and I loved her voice on every song too, she didn’t need tons of riffs! 2. Jackie Burns: seeing Jackie on Broadway was just a dream come true. I went in the second week of her 2017-18 broadway run so I got a performance that was both fresh and exciting whilst also polished and layered. She has an amazing Menzel-type voice and is probably one of the best Elphabas the show has ever seen. 1. Rachel Tucker: the undisputed queen of green for me. I’ll always be sad that I only saw her once but I’m still grateful as hell that I did at least see her, her Elphaba is just perfect and her voice, her riffs, her characterisation, her everything is just unmatched.

Posted this on instagram a few hours ago along with some of my favourite curtain call photos from the show, thought I’d share it here too. Say what you like about the questionable casting, marketing, etc. but this show has meant a lot to many young theatre fans (and theatre fans in general of course).
Wow so I’m not even sure where to begin here. Nearly 2 years ago I went through a bit of a rough patch and during that I discovered the cast recording of a Broadway show called Waitress. The melodies and the harmonies were so catchy, so beautifully simple and calming and I loved listening regularly. Fast forward to the summer and we had a London transfer announced. I was so excited to finally get to see it live and it was even better than I could ever have imagined and the most perfect 18th birthday present. After that I saw the show another 6 times and each time was a precious 2 and a bit hours of my life. My clinical depression can make me have really really low spells where I don’t see a way out or even a reason to want to carry on but Waitress was genuinely that “soft place to land”, full of beautiful music and heaps of hilarious moments. Knowing my pie show was always there when I needed it was a huge comfort to me. Seeing the story of Jenna, a woman whose life is at a really low point, finding a person who cares for her so deeply, developing the confidence to get herself out of her terrible situation and finally reaching true happiness was an inspiration to me every time, speaking as someone who often wonders if he ever will be able to overcome his mental health issues and be able to call himself truly “happy”. A line that got me every time was “in time maybe, I can heal and I can breathe, as I can feel myself believe that everything changes” - change happens slowly but things DO change and things DO get better and I do feel that even with many bumps in the road, I have made lots of progress since my anxiety+depression diagnosis almost a year ago. Waitress leaves a huge hole in the West End and a huge hole in my heart. Thank you to every single incredible cast member and every individual who brought this show to life night after night. I only hope that everyone can find something that makes them as happy as Waitress has made me over the past year. Sugar, butter, goodbye pie ❤️🥧💙

Hamilton from the front row for £10, a completey unique and amazing experience. Getting to see Rachel Tucker in The Pirate Queen before she left us for the bright lights of Broadway for a while. And of course getting to see my favourite Waitress three times this year, once last minute with Desi Oakley and twice with Sara Bareilles, truly magical nights at the theatre seeing her.

Still live at home (well now that uni’s no more for the forseeable) so made my mum turkey, sweet potato mash, cauliflower cheese and a greek salad, not a bad substitute for a restaurant meal if I do say so myself! Had to settle with a skype call to my Gran though but at least it’s keeping her safe.

Has the Hippodrome Casino made a statement yet? I’m meant to be seeing Sarah O’Connor at Lola’s downstairs next Sunday but I don’t see it going ahead obviously, just want to hear something official.

I’ve just booked a £35 stalls seat for tonight, I really want to catch Sara and Gavin one last time so I’m going to brave London but then no theatre for the forseeable I’ve decided, I reckon they could be closing up by the end of next week anyway.
