Completely unrelated to the production but Vanessa Williams just released a new single and I’m already obsessed, I don’t think this is going to leave the G-A-Y playlist all summer LOL

Not sure if it’s something you considered but Box Office may also be a viable option? No degree needed and pays better than FOH. Also less antisocial hours.

Julian and Jane is a whole new level of camp. What a fab cast though, I’m so there.

If this ends up a thing and runs at the same time as Sunset, Old Friends and Smash, it will be impossible to resist a trip back to NYC.

Hannah’s funniest joke of the night was saying Little Big Things was a sellout…

Heathers definitely has the superior score in my opinion, but Mean Girls is funnier (at least the screenplay is but I think from “modernising” the musical they lost a lot of the best lines).

I was hoping the hoover would get a best supporting actor nod at next year’s Oliviers!

One thing about Sheridan is that she’ll have her army of homosexuals fighting to the death for her LOL (myself included)

Who is Sheridan's u/s for this show? She will likely go on a lot... Sheridan didn’t miss a single show at Shirley Valentine. Likewise her attendance at Legally Blonde was exemplary. Joseph she missed about a week near the end of the run which was most likely due to morning sickness (never confirmed but rumoured due to the timeline of her pregnancy). Funny Girl was the exception not the rule. She was going through hell.

She was a good Duke on the ‘Heathers’ cast recording, less so in a live setting. Great actress though. Isn’t that T’Shan Williams you’re talking about?

I thought she was pretty wonderful in Miss Saigon last year to be fair.

TodayTix will often request top-ups and the respective box offices will decide if they want to give any more or not, once added they would show up immediately on the app but there’s no special time for when this happens.

I’m hoping to catch this with Jenna Lee James this week before she moves on, did I read somewhere that Laura Emmitt does one of the shows at the beginning of the week?

I remember Marisha Wallace mentioning that during the Waitress London days (almost exactly 4 years ago actually) when Lucie+Sarah O’Connor+Olivia Moore were all ill, they actually asked Marisha to sing all of Jenna’s songs backstage as a disembodied voice/inner conscience or whatever while Leanne Pinder (the dance captain) would effectively perform the track. Marisha politely declined! And then of course they brought over Desi Oakley the next day after cancelling both Saturday performances last minute.

Agency allocations are a thing of the past now (with a few exceptions) due to everyone being able to pick up anything on API (apart from the TKTS booth who will often be given “specials” to sell, and things like the rush allocation etc.) I assume whatever tickets are available on TodayTix currently will just be whatever is available on ATG with fees tacked on. Except there's NOTHING available on ATG, and still 5 tickets for tomorrow's matinee on TodayTix... Just had a look myself and I reckon it’s probably TodayTix’s new ticket protection scheme where the customer can “cancel” their tickets up to 48 hours before the performance and still get a full refund to a credit voucher. TodayTix then attempt to resell these just via their website (as they effectively own the tickets now) and take the hit if they remain unsold. Considering the show is a complete sellout though, I’m surprised ATG haven’t just authorised a full refund so they could get these back to resell themselves.

That moment when the music swells and Joe’s face on the big screen fades to Norma’s with the red Sunset Boulevard lettering is a genuine goosebump moment every time, just so so so good. I know it’s “just” a screen but I feel like the screen is akin to the chandelier, the barricades, the helicopter etc.

If my luck at the start of 2024 is a sign for the rest of the year then I'm excited, as by an act of god today I managed to get a resale ticket in stalls for face value at around 3pm - literally over the moon! My view was perfect and I'd definitely recommend row M in the Savoy. The show started about 10 minutes later than usual though (About 10 to 8) and when someone in front of me asked FOH what was going on she said there was an issue backstage but they were sorting it (Please don't take this as gospel as I might have picked it up wrong!). The crowd started getting really rowdy and loud as we waited, which I found really disrespectful to the staff and cast to be honest. David Thaxton was missing with an understudy playing Max - I didn't see the cast board so I'm not sure who the actor was, but he was really great and I was particularly impressed with his vocal, but David really owns the part. Nicole had a slight rasp in her voice tonight and cracked slightly in As if we never said goodbye, but honestly I feel that it added to the emotion in her songs, so no complaints from me. The outdoor scene also glitched a little when Tom first went onto the street, but overall they managed to pull it off! With all of that being said, I'm so happy that I got to see the show one last time with such close seats...but some really horrible theatregoers made the overall night genuinely one of the most chaotic and negative experiences I've ever had in a theatre, both for myself and the people sat next to me - I don't want to clog up this thread so will post in the general bad behaviour thread, as I feel that what I witnessed tonight deserves it's own discussion! Sounds like Nicole had a few extra gowns she fancied trying on before the show tonight, icon!

Sarah O'Connor's voice is very weak for Glinda. I agree. She is really not up to the role. Probably the weakest I've ever seen/heard. You just quoted your own post pretending to be two separate posters, maybe worry about that instead of how Sarah is in the role… It’s week 3 of the tour, give her time!

They give clearance late every night because they want to avoid latecomers as much as possible. They publicise that latecomers will not be admitted for the entirety of Act I and that readmittance would not be allowed if anyone left mid-act. From my recent trip, they do still seem to allow latecomers in after With One Look because as much as they want to keep the artistic vision of the show, no one wants to be screamed at by angry patrons who have arrived late! So by starting around 7:40 each night, they hopefully have minimal issues with latecomers. I went to a Rachel night in October and it also started around 7:40, this Nicole gossip seems completely baseless…

With the lottery tickets, are they handing out tickets when people present with their lottery wins? Is there an advantage to being early to get a better seat or has my seat already been secretly allocated? The box office will have allocated them ahead of time for sure.

At the show tonight. Bernadette was in EXCELLENT voice. Only unusual thing is she didn’t do the final dance and ending of Broadway Baby. They made it seem like her character had enough and walked off the stage. Young ensemble member was in her place. I was in on Tuesday night and noticed she had a knee-support thing on under her dress, I guess she must have a minor injury. She keeps going though, legend!

I don’t think the allocation is ever in the grand? It’s been mostly rear of the dress, which I’d say is a bargain considering how the show has sold recently. I actually got Stalls M12 for Thursday afternoon, must have got very lucky with the singles they had available!

I think Nicole should continue following in Patti’s footsteps and do Gypsy next. I think it could definitely appeal to a younger crowd if it’s given a “modernisation” of sorts. Mama Rose is basically an old-fashioned Kris Jenner!

Nicole TBF did Cats 9 years before Sunset so could sustain 7 shows a week. I suspect Gaga would be too expensive. I’ve never seen Cats on stage but does Grizabella actually do much besides singing Memory? Norma Desmond is a marathon compared to Griz surely? (And my god she’s proved herself!)

In no particular order because the first 3 especially were all such a high standard
- Funny Girl (Lea Michele - Broadway) - Sunset Boulevard - Sondheim’s Old Friends - Miss Saigon (Sheffield Crucible) - Crazy For You
Shame it’s all revivals (plus a revue) rather than new work but that’s my honest favourite 5 things I’ve seen this year.
