Some press are also being invited on the 12th of October. Is that for Rachel’s debut? There’s only ever been a matinee on sale for that day, which is Rachel’s first show.

Slightly off-topic but was just rewatching old Sunset clips in preparation for Tuesday’s visit and ended up with Mazz singing AIWNSG at AllyPally, had forgotten how special it was having just come out of lockdown to hear her sing “I don’t want to be alone / that’s all in the past / This world’s waited long enough / I’ve come home at last”. Honestly one of the most cathartic moments of my life.

If I was ALW there's NO WAY I'd have let them cut 'The Lady's Paying'..... to avoid Patti Lupone having an 'I told you so' moment. Haha. Honestly one of the reasons I love the song so much is because of how much Patti hated it, the bit in her book where she talks about it is so funny!

I’m looking at tickets for my Mum for after Christmas, and theres not a lot of affordability going on is there? Nothing without a restriction or safety bar for less than £99! I’m always happy to duck and dive but when its for a gift you can’t take a chance can you? Any tips or bargains? If it’s to give as a Christmas present, and you’re looking to go in January-February, your best option would probably be the GILT New Year Sale. Usually goes on sale in December and you can probably get Band A tickets for £40-50.

darreno yes Grace Swaby-Moore is definitely one to watch. I was disappointed that Courtney Stapleton was going to be off when I saw Beauty and the Beast at the Palladium because she’d been so good as Belle on tour, but Grace was also fantastic, she has an absolutely killer voice.

Lovely and painless, got a nice dress circle seat for Tuesday the 26th of this month and then a Row B stalls seat for a Rachel Monday in October.

Is there not normally a standby for Glinda on tour? No there doesn’t tend to be, and usually whoever plays Nessarose is also a Glinda cover, which is the case again here.

I’ve been a fan of Sarah O’Connor ever since she stole the show as the Mistress in the 2017 go-around of the Evita tour, and she was neck and neck with Sara Bareilles for me as the best Jenna of the UK productions, but I’ve never seen her as being a Glinda. Interested to see what she brings to it!

I guess it really just depends on the BO Manager + the company the theatre is run by.

That “48 hour exchange policy” has really gone out the window since covid though. I work at a west end box office and we do many exchanges within the 48 hour window as long as the reasoning seems good enough. The 48 hours thing is still the general policy so that we don’t end up with everyone “trying it on” but generally we can be flexible, and we’d certainly be lenient in a case such as Paul’s.

I'm booked for tomorrow's matinee with a senior ticket. In view of the high temperatures likely (currently 31 degrees forecast) I sent an email asking if I could switch to the matinee in two weeks time. I suggested two available single seats for an exchange, offered to pay an admin fee, but got an immediate refusal from the box office quoting terms and conditions. I accept rules are rules and they are totally within their rights but I do think most theatres would have agreed. Encouraging seniors to attend matinees by offering discounted tickets but refusing an exchange in circumstances like these does seem harsh. Senior tickets can only be collected on the day from the box office so it wouldn't take much for them to make the amendment for me. I have asked for my request to be referred to a manager but in future it'll be Rush or don't go there for me ! That’s terrible customer service!

I think it’s a good initiative. Obviously this a generalisation but in general over 30s will be earning more than under 30s. A big amount of under 30s have just come out of uni with £1000s of debt and started at the bottom of the ladder in whatever careers they’ve gone into, so I don’t see how being allowed to buy some exclusive cheap tickets for a west end musical is a bad thing. Also it’s unfortunate but most under 30s are not really interested in revivals of ALW musicals. I’m 22 and absolutely love Sunset so would have paid full price no problem, but most of my theatre friends around my age are just into Heathers and Waitress and whatever other modern stuff Broadway is churning out, but for £20 they may go to this and maybe they’ll love it and then maybe ALW’s more obscure shows won’t die out with the next generation. Just some thoughts.

Looks like this is touring again sometime next year… Announced for Brum in September. I love Hairspray but this touring production is beyond cheap.

But if he couldn’t keep Aspects open, I don’t see how he’d set the box office alight for this to be honest.

Okay but those of you complaining about Self Esteem (and Madison, Aimie and Maude) having 1 show off a week are probably the same people who complained about Jessie never being on. They can’t win! If the producers have decided that giving Sally one show off a week leads to better vocal health and more consistent attendance, I think that’s a good decision. Sally’s not as vocally challenging as Evita or Kim etc. but she really “goes there” during the title number in this production, and having that one night off a week probably allows the performer to really let go even more.

How terribly sad. I can’t help but compare this to the sudden death of Darius Campbell last year what with them both playing Nicky in the Sheridan Smith Funny Girl, a tragic coincidence.

Is she having a laugh? Why is she not doing all those performances? It’s just one off a week? The same as the last 3 Sallys. Jessie attempted 8 shows a week and look how that turned out…

That figure will be from box offices sending weekly data to SOLT telling them the number of seats sold and how much the show grossed. From that SOLT would work out the average ticket price, so it includes everything from rush up to the super premium seats.
