I had an email from ATG yesterday about the January sale (I remember seeing one for Black Friday as well), so it seems hit and miss that some members receive emails and others don't?

Cancelled today and tomorrow....today's matinee cancelled 90 minutes before curtain. People on Twitter are NOT happy. Are theatre people on Twitter ever happy? Maybe not but a lot of them have travelled 2-3 hours to find out they're not getting a show, they're allowed to be a bit miffed.

The book was such a chore to get through, I nearly gave up about 3 times!

As a special Christmas treat I am allowing myself to comment on this. My blood pressure is in check and I’m off today so any rage that might be generated won’t affect my work. ALW is peeved for several reasons. i) He thought he was on to a surefire winner, gathering up the cream of talent that ‘the kids’ think are cool (Fennell, Fletcher). Unfortunately two years later they weren’t quite so hot. ii) His entitled ‘Lordship’ life made him think that the government’s rules would not apply to him. Unfortunately, 1500 people in ANY room was a problem and rather than socially distance he threw his toys out. I don’t know how long he financially supported the cast in the first lockdowns but I’m pretty sure that this extended closure is down to not paying people for six weeks to save some cash. iii) Despite numerous opportunities to change the problematic bits of the show, he continues to believe that the core product is a winner and just meddles with individual lines or the colour of someones gloves. It needs a solid rewrite to turn it into the product that he thinks it is. The undeveloped threads of the Godmother, and how the mothers know each other might be clever-clever bits of adult subtext, but no other bits of narrative do this so find some consistency with a rewrite or ditch them. iv) Change the marketing to make it clear what people will be getting rather than annoying parents that think its a fairytale. The majority of mainstream theatregoers don’t really want to have to decipher an arty poster to understand that it is not what they are expecting from using a recognisable name. v) Blaming the cast for speaking out or not behaving like his usual bum lickers has not done either party any good. He has a great core cast that he’d do well to look after. Mud slinging rarely ends well. Merry Christmas x What a terrible post, it gets approval for no other reason than that people on this forum will *like* anything negative said about the composer. You jump to the defence of the cast when you don't actually know what went on or that they necessarily behaved appropriately, you talk about how ALW thought the rules would not apply to him without justifying why you have reached this conclusion (it may or may not be true), though you have (inadvertently) provided evidence which suggests that ALW is happy with the show itself by pointing out that he refuses to change anything except minor details. Saying things like "his entitled Lordship" weakens your argument substantially, it just shows that you have a personal dislike of the composer and that anything you say on the matter lacks credibility. Completely untrue, I'm a massive ALW fan but I agree with everything danb says, it's just a bad show.

Either they feel they can't cope with the uncertainty and have decided to close themselves, or they know something is on the horizon about to be announced. But others will surely follow their example.
And big things involving International casts (I.e. Bonnie & Clyde) are also surely off now.

Never believe what seating plans say when it comes to availability, they probably haven't put it all on sale yet to create demand. Looking at the plan, some rows are all empty while others are full, natural booking patterns wouldn't be like that. She probably is selling, but I doubt it's as much as it looks at the moment.

Got my booster jab tonight from a walk-in centre. A great set up and in and out within 30 minutes. I had originally booked for the end of the month, but with having to travel down to Kent for Christmas with family, I decided to bring it forward. It's just a weight off my mind that its sorted. I'm trying robertb213 's idea of eating chocolate to help ward off any side effects. So far, it's working! Glad to hear it! Chocolate pretty much solves everything 😋

I do have the sore arm from hell today and some mild grogginess but otherwise I'm all good. Well enough to drag myself to Cadogan Hall for Louise Dearman and Kerry Ellis tonight, anyway! 😁

Got boosted today (I booked on Monday). 10 minutes queuing, sorted in 30 seconds. Can't fault it at all. I'm now eating chocolate to ward off any flu-like side effects 😁

She won't sell out the Palladium, no one outside of the theatre bubble knows who she is. Definitely hold out for deals.

To be fair I don't remember the Savoy looking massively different to that! I could be wrong though, I was too busy sitting in awe of Amber. And then Marisha 🤣

Looking for a bit of advice on TodayTix Rush for this. We were supposed to be at a Jessie Ware gig tomorrow night but it's another victim of Covid. We don't want to sit at home being depressed about it and would like to see a show. Are the Rush tickets basically impossible to get hold of? There's plenty of regular tickets available as a backup but would obviously rather pay less if we can. Sometimes I look out of mild curiosity (at various shows) just in case I decide to jump on the train down after work, and I've always had something come up for this, so based on that I'd say your chances are pretty good. I think they're £30 rather than the usual £25 though 😁

To be honest as long as the vocals are out of the park, I can live with a minimal set for this one.

Such a sad state of affairs. Certain shows do seem to attract this kind of customer (Only Fools & Horses seems to suffer regularly as well). Ushers and customers shouldn't have to put up with it. The bar should refuse service if someone is clearly past a sensible point.

Go Bev! Love her. How bad was the behaviour that it caused a show stop?! This is where we need spies 🤣
