Feeling so sad for all involved, I simply adore this show! Seems I have a fairy godmother though as I fly in to NYC in the morning of 3 June & I’m now booked to go on the Saturday night!! I’m going to the ball! Me too. My favourite new musical since the Coronavirus (by a mile!) Also hoping to get over to NYC in the next three weeks for one final hurrah 👌🏻🤩😍✌🏻! |

I can only hope ALW learns his lesson, and never focuses on making theatre for "the theatre kids" again. Much better to make a solid show that anyone can enjoy. “Learns his lesson” lol, he isn’t two and a half! Personally I hope he continues to write whatever interests/inspires him as that generally leads to his best melodies. Also the musical before Cinderella was aimed even more at “the theatre kids” and that did ok so IDK 🤷🏻♂️ |

It's no big surprise. Would love a cast recording, if only to hear if the score sounds better with an actual orchestra playing it. Not going to happen now.
Am I right in thinking that, after this closes, it'll be the first time since Evita's Broadway opening in 1979 that ALW will have nothing playing on Broadway? If so, that truly is the end of a very long era. Feels quite sad in a way, although 'he's had a good run, I'm sure he enjoyed it.'

Why would you inform the press before you tell the company? Even if they asked them not to publish immediately, it's not like it was any kind of positive news. There was absolutely no need to tell the press anything until all those involved were informed. Shocking misstep but it's been one thing after another with this show.

“Learns his lesson” lol, he isn’t two and a half! Excellent point. He's not that young anymore and perhaps he needs trusted collaborators who can help him bring his talents to bear on works that will have strong appeal for current audiences. |

Thanks for posting. I’ll really miss this show! Great fun and an amazing score IMHO After the bashing it’s had do wonder if it will ever come back in any form ever again…. Certainly not with the Broadway version’s production values and 20 odd piece orchestra I expect. |

I'm starting to wonder if I'm losing it, because - I can't be the only one who can hear this? That 'everything wrong seems right' was a mess...and this is an official clip, which someone listened to and thought 'yeah, let's make that public' - and it's Broadway?

ALW’s 43 year streak on Broadway ends today. Still odd walking past The Majestic with no signage or any sign “Phantom” was ever there.

I see the previous leading lady put up a gushing Instagram post wishing the Broadway cast well on their last performance. In true CHF style, she managed to make the post all about her originating the part with photos of her in the role.
Considering she liked a tweet gloating about the closure date less than a month ago I’m not buying any of the well wishes.

But they should have seen this coming when they signed up! They may have had an idea, but probably joined to at least get some work. From what I understand about Broadway (from what people have told me) is that there are a lot of struggling young actors over there, as it is very difficult to find work, compared to over here where the opposite seems to be happening, at least from what I've noticed. They probably saw this show as an opportunity to finally be out of work, only for them to sadly be back out of work after tonight. I want nothing but the best for all the cast and crew of this show and I hope they all go on to do bigger and better things in the near future. |

Was there a 'costly mistake' style speech at the last performance? The costly mistake quote was in direct reference to all the money he sank into a production that was clearly struggling. His pride and ego made him carry on with ‘his Cinderella’ during a pandemic when it was clearly folly to do so. The cast who were already unhappy chose to jump on that quote. Nothing to see here. Looking at the positive comments by the Broadway cast I think they haven’t had the same ‘issues’ some of the west end cast did. |

Just to say I saw this last Saturday night, I’ve already let you all know I love this show!
It was utterly brilliant & still think it’s so sad the Imperial is dark & it deserved to play longer!
I did stage door and the buzz & fandom was so fun to be a part of!
