I think if I was in your position, at this point I would be trying for a chargeback through my credit or debit card company. I have absolutely no idea how one would go about doing this & I'm not sure I can face the stress of trying to find out. I might just have to write it off as one of those things. At least it was only one ticket & under £40. The one and only time I’ve needed to do this was in relation to a hotel booking. It was very straightforward. I just gave my credit card company the details of what had happened abd I had to forward the booking info and they took it from there. The only slight annoyance is that they have to give the company you’re claiming against a period of time to challenge the claim. It might have been 60 or 90 days. It was a drag waiting but if you’re not desperate for the money it’s fine (mine was for £900!). you’ll get your money back no doubt about it though.

Well as expected my Austentatious booking for June isn't going ahead, intriguingly ATG are rescheduling it instead of a voucher or refund like the other ones. As Austentatious is a weekly show I have no idea what date will be chosen as a like for like.

I think I'll just leave it & keep hoping the theatre eventually gets back to people. I hate anything to do with finance - I can barely be forced to read my monthly bank statements even - so I'm not sure I could even bring myself to do it for hundreds of pounds, let alone under £40. And at least I now know the theatre doesn't seem to have refunded anyone so it's not just me.

I had a weekend in London booked for June. Sunday with Jake, Angels and Hairspray all requiring me to do something to get my money back. Just had a mail from PremierInn saying I’ll be refunded. No credits, no offers, just “we are giving you your money back”. My opinion of this company is now very high. My Premier Inn refund appeared on my credit card account today. Very impressed, much more likely to use them in future than the other chains who have been less flexible with other bookings I've had - all refunded eventually but took some haggling.

Capital Theatres, Edinburgh emailed me today about Phantom’s cancellation and they’re offering the choice of a credit voucher, a refund or you can donate the money to them as they are a charity. For all 3 options you must email them to explain what process you want to proceed with.

Just read a very interesting article from The Times titled "Private equity and the cursed theatre giant. ATG" it talks about ATG's handling of refunds and also the company in general which is a very interesting read. Much of which I was not aware of. It also said they charge cast members for bottled water and wi fi.

Interesting read, thanks for flagging it up. Carl Woodward has posted a scan of the article on twitter.

I had a room booked in Cardiff for a concert. I'd completely forgotten to cancel it and got a phone call checking if I was a key worker or if I wanted a refund and got the refund through the next day.

And it's companies like Premier Inn who will get business once this changes and we can travel again - I'll be remembering those who dealt with things well as well as those who did the opposite. Equally I know which of my friends made contact and which didn't and thus which ones I will have all the time in the world for and which ones are more acquaintances than friends

I am very impressed with Edinburgh Capital Theatres. I emailed 6 days ago about refunds and got a personal reply this afternoon, and money should be back in my account within the next week. It was just such a simple, easy process made clear in the initial cancellation emails.

Very clear email from Brum Hipp today re cancelled POTO ... credit voucher enclosed with instructions on donation or full refund included, the latter option requiring a phone call, but this is one of my 'locals' and I'm happy to take the credit.

Newcastle Theatre Royal were also in touch this afternoon - they are giving the following options
- Exchange tickets to the rescheduled dates (which I have chosen)
- Donate full purchase amount
- Full or partial refund
- Full or partial credit voucher
- Place booking on hold and wait to be contacted when the theatre reopens
For each option all you need to do is click the link to the preferred option when your show cancellation email comes in.

Has anyone had dealings with Ticketmaster and rescheduled gigs? I had tickets for Diana Ross in July and it’s been put back 11 months. Where as I’d love to see DR I’m also concerned that the venue or Ticketmaster may eventually go into administration and swallow my £90 nosebleed ticket payment. Is there an easy way to request a refund or is it a big headache like ATG?

Arts Theatre emailed instantly whenever the summer closure was confirmed - you can either get a credit note or exchange in most cases, or a refund if that’s what you prefer, and you can also choose to donate your booking fees (£1.75 per ticket) if you wish, which I did - you just need to email their box office to indicate which process you want to go through with.
A member of the team replied soon after and processed it for me, within an hour of the request bring sent.
It’s places like the Arts which I will be going to when we’re reopened - good customer service, clarity and speed.

Has anyone heard from the Globe yet? ATG has refunded my ticket for A Doll's House and Six has confirmed the refund for my July ticket but I haven't heard anything from the Globe. I were to see Romeo & Juliet on the first Sunday in July. I would be willing to donate part of my ticket cost to them but they haven't sent out any information about refund policy and I can't find anything on their site either.

Has anyone had any refunds from the Royal Exchange or Liverpool Playhouse yet?
I asked the Royal Exchange for refunds on West Side Story and a season ticket weeks ago, then never heard anything. I chased it up and apparently I hadn't received either of their emails with the refund links on. Filled out the forms about a fortnight ago, still no money, but then today I've had an email asking what I want to do about my Glass Menagerie ticket (which should be part of the season ticket.)
When the Playhouse phoned about a month into the closure I was told that they were hoping to get the refund sorted "within the next week." Then nothing until two weeks ago, someone phoned a few times when I was in work, and I've heard nothing since. Think I'm going to go the chargeback route.
Haven't had this kind of messing about with other venues. In fact, I changed my mind about wating for The Sound of Music to be rescheduled at Storyhouse, filled in a form on their website, had a response within a few hours, and the money was in my account within a couple of days.
I know it's a huge thing to process their entire seasons, but the one at the Playhouse was only a couple of days into their closure, and it's been nearly three months now. I've been quite laidback about it until now, but they're starting to piss me off, particularly as they're two venues I used to hold in high enough regard to join both of their membership schemes.
(Sorry, turned into a bit of a rant.)

A refund from ATG magically appeared on my card at the weekend, despite me not acting on an email asking me to call to verify my details for the refund to be processed...very confused but glad of the refund!

I did check the e mail I got a while back and it did say it could take "several weeks" to get a refund.

I'm not complaining and I am happy to wait for refunds from the smaller regional and independent theatres as I know how they are struggling. If I lived in Manchester I'd have probably taken a credit note but I have no idea if or when I will be up there.

I sympathise as I felt the same with a couple of organisations who were very slow at refunding. But I would add this is a bit of a "nuclear option" and does as I understand it cost the theatre more (in terms of money and time) to process. So personally I'd reserve this option for the case when you're 100% sure you won't get a refund - eg they have explicitly refused, or they have ceased trading like the Leicester Haymarket.

Just have to say, awful experience with Theatre Royal Windsor. I can now not make the panto I booked for, I realised I couldn't get a refund, but they refused point blank to even give me a credit voucher on my account. So now two front row tickets that they could have resold will go unused, what a ridiculous policy.

Just to have another mini moan - has anybody else had any luck ringing the London Palladium? They don't answer emails and you go through four options on the phone only to be cut off! Absolutely despicable customer service.
