Thinking about the title song (which I mostly do like, dodgy lyrics aside), I think what bugs me about is the lack of 'show, don't tell'. Show us she's a rebel and a 'bad girl' with her actions, with how others talk about and react to her. Don't just have her turn up and announce how bad she is. Especially when she then does nothing whatsoever to actually be this rebel figure, and instead drips around the stage singing sad songs.
Maybe that's being fixed in rewrites. I'll choose optimism!

I am very tempted to actually go to New York for this. I never got around to seeing the production in London.
Plus, the new SWEENEY TODD revival is on at the same time.

Let’s not forget the ALW new show/revival cycle.
1. Launch new show or revival, hyping up his current muse du jour 2. Disparage previous productions, shifting blame to other creatives, cast and even audiences. Claim this is his finest work (for new shows) or is the production he always envisaged (for revivals) 3. Repeat step one

I was just checking in at the BA lounge at JFK when ALW came to check in. Obviously unlike me I didn’t have an airport assistant to walk with me. I assume he’s been in NYC for this show. I can’t see this doing well on Broadway

Repeat step one It's been rare for him to do that with revivals because what gets revived generally had a successful life in the original incarnation. It's more the post-millennium new shows where this became the standard practice. He won't have COVID this time to blame, so wonder who/what it will it be.

I can't get over the launch - it's just going to live rent free in my head hehehehehe
So cringe. Not the new lead's fault but I'm just internally dying.

I still think the main thing wrong is the book.

I still think the main thing wrong is the book. And half the dreadful clunky music, casio keyboard band, the obvious woke storyline that isn't special or different, the message of hate throughout the show, the terrible end of act one and reveal that makes no sense, the oddly written fairygodmother character, there is no real duet in the show, the set looks horrible and they don't know the marketing or audience angle the show needs. I did like some of the ballads though and there IS a good show in there somewhere. 30 per cent of the material is good. I wish them well! I hated Woman in White on the West End and I loved it at Charing Cross, same with Love Never Dies version 1 to oz version 3

This is going to be hilarious. How does the whole world know this is going to absolutely tank, but not the investors? How much can any incredibly wealthy person be just happy to lose? In the US? It will be a tax write off, as in "The Producers."

A) Jeeves>By Jeeves - tick.
B) Love Never Dies, London > LND, Australia > tick. TBH, I liked the Australian production.
Honourable mentions: Whistle Down the Wind, The Woman in White.

Dreadful. Is she going to do that “huhh” noise all the way through the show? She also sounded flat. Not a fan of CHF but her version puts this to shame. However Linedy is ALW’s “wonderful new gel that I have discovered” so they’ll press on with her.

I'm not a big CHF fan either, but having just listened to her version to compare, it's so much smoother. And in tune.

Absolutely dire. What IS she doing with her accent? 'Cinderella' almost becomes 'Ceenere-a' but she didn't seem to say it like that when she was speaking at the launch. Is it an accent 'choice' or is she just struggling to enunciate?

Yeah...that's not going to happen. Remember when ALW called CHF one of his greatest leading ladies?

. Remember when ALW called CHF one of his greatest leading ladies? Isn’t every single turn he trundles out his ‘greatest’? He needs a new script writer.

That poor girl gasping for air after every line, expected to carry a Broadway show fresh from a West End flop.

All those extension leads for Andy's Nord! I dread to think how many stagehands would have been required by the union.
