He could be right. But also, sometimes things just find their audience. It's possible. I cannot for the life of me understand why 'Six' has gotten anywhere past student productions and Fringe, but a lot of people love it. This could end up doing a lot better than London.
Listening again to that song - there seems to be some weird accent stuff going on there. I assumed it was the performer's own accent creeping in, but having seen her video at the announcement it doesn't look like it. Huh. Not sure what's up there.

The colour scheme is better than London's but I'm amazed they kept the scrotum (which now forms the 'A' in 'BAD').

The NY press won't be as kind or as stupid as the UK's press and will relish the name. They won't even have to think of a negative or bitchy comment.

Surely at this point it's all just an exercise in writing off some tax, levelling out the books.

Whilst I think Hex is a show that is completely beyond repair, and would have to be a completely start from scratch job to get anything above 2 stars ever from me, I actually think there's a decent show in Cinderella. I'm sure ALW will be too stubborn to change too much of it and it will remain largely the same, I think it does actually have potential if it got a few better songs and a tidy up of the book.

Looking at the new title logo, the spray painted dress now makes sense at least.
Not a huge fan of the rewrite of the title song though, of all the complaints I read, I never saw “The lyrics need dumbing down” to be one of them.

Haven’t we all been suggesting it should've been called Bad Cinderella since day 1? Exactly. Early in the Cinderella thread people were saying it should be called Bad Cinderella to distinguish it from the traditional fairy tale and not because it actually was bad.

86 “regular” performances is my guess. Any higher?

The last lot sounded like they’d been written with a rhyming dictionary.

[quote author=" marob" And why should Carrie be supportive of a Broadway transfer when it’s no secret the show was a nightmare to work on?[/quote] Her beef from all her past shady vague posting/likes apparently seems to be with ALW and production. Why support unemployment on everyone involved now? Either come out with a statement, sue him for an ALW memorial swimming pool like Lupone or just for sanity sake walk away and leave it as an unfortunate chapter in the past. Getting into Twitter passive aggressive liking and retweeting only serves to make one look unprofessional, bitter and jealous.

I've never managed to warm to Carrie as a performer but I'll give her an award if we get the ALW Memorial Swimming Pool 2.0

Re: All That Dazzles (or Bad All That Dazzles as he’s now changed it to) Isn’t he the guy that goes on about how he doesn’t like posting anything negative? Think ole Dazzles must read here His unswerving, unerring belief that the cast were treated so badly and that is his reason for all his unprecedented negativity is quite something. It’s pretty safe to say none of us know what really happened, him included. While he might be clued in by one of the cast I’m sure he doesn’t have a hot line to production or Andy. From the glimpse we did have from the cast it’s clear few came out smelling of roses.

I don't mean to be rude (I do), but every time All That Dazzles pops up in my Twitter feed it seems to be weeping and teeth gnashing that he's not written a 5* review for something. Or possibly complaining that someone didn't care for him. For someone so very sensitive you'd think he might be a little kinder than to so gleefully predict/hope a show fails just because he doesn't care for ALW. He might not be wrong about ALW, but there's a whole new cast there who probably just want to be excited to see what they can bring to it. Why not cheer them on a bit even if you secretly hope ALW gets headlice or something.

g about ALW, but there's a whole new cast there who probably just want to be excited to see what they can bring to it. Why not cheer them on a bit even if you secretly hope ALW gets headlice or something. There's also the good old wisdom of "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all." I'm not a fan of these attention-seeking blogging airbags to begin with, but this kind of pettiness only shows them in an immature silly light and doesn't do them any favours to be taken seriously. For me this just reinforced that I have zero respect for them.

There is surely no way that this can be ready if new songs are being added and there are changes being made, right? Surely it means it's just been rushed?
Saying that, I said after seeing it in London: there is a good show in there somewhere.

If London couldn't get behind it, what makes ALW think NY will appreciate it. This isn't like School of Rock which had a very strong foundation for a show.

Carrie Hope Fletcher is already liking tweets being snarky about the show so safe to say she was never going over. Classy. Shame she can't support the new Cinderella, whatever her personal experience was. I think they’re perfectly entitled to like whatever tweets they wish. The cast were treated dreadfully, do you expect them to just smile through it?

I would consider this show to be possibly the worst I've ever seen in the West End - the plot and staging (bar the revolve) was a total mess. Every scene felt like it lasted an eternity and just when I thought the scene would move on, each song would have a reprise.
I also think there are glimmers of a good show within it and some catchy melodies throughout but with less than a year of development work and the same director in place, I cannot see how this show could be so drastically improved that it would be worthy of a Broadway stage.
I do hope they add back in the Prince Charming sea witch song as it's my favourite on the cast album, and the only one I've listened to since seeing the show, but maybe that has something to do with it being performed by Adam Lambert.
Very intrigued to see how this goes.

And people are perfectly entitled to form their own opinions based on that (and other things).

Then make themselves look a complete hypocrite on their stories when they ‘wish the Broadway cast huge love and luck and hope they have fun with what they create! ...while simultaneously gleefully hoping ‘Broadway critics are going to eat Cinderella alive’ 🤔

Is it true they're going to have a 24 piece orchestra? I think it's a requirement for the Musicians Union on Broadway due to the theatre's size.

Is it common practice on Broadway to do an announcement on the street outside the theatre like that? He gets drowned out by traffic at one point. Though I guess it’s pretty on-brand for this show’s promo to be a bit cack-handed. Love that he still made a pointed dig at the government, which once again no one laughed at. Just waiting for him to start talking Linedy Genao up as his newest discovery and one of the best he’s ever worked with.

Hearing the slightly reworked version of the song Bad Cinderella has reminded me how much that song annoys me. The lyrics are so basic and uninteresting, he doesn’t even try to do anything clever with the rhyme scheme - and the melody sounds like a 5 year old playing a nursery rhyme on the piano with one finger.

Gosh I’m looking forward to this thread 🙂 Me too. If it's anything like the London thread, it's going to be great Re: All That Dazzles (or Bad All That Dazzles as he’s now changed it to) Isn’t he the guy that goes on about how he doesn’t like posting anything negative? From the glimpse we did have from the cast it’s clear few came out smelling of roses. But we *do* know what happened, insofar as we know that the cast lost their jobs with very little notice, on a bank holiday of all days, so some would have found out they'd been fired through Twitter. And that includes cast who were lined up to replace the first group, so would have put aside many weeks to do the show, and then suddenly been completely left on a limb. Saying all that, I do think Dazzles goes a bit far with the ALW hate.
