Let's face it, they're all going to be disastrous for the country, so at least let's have some fun while the nation continues to sink. Please let it be Truss or Braverman or Patel or Dorries. Guaranteed to be hilariously bad.

Jeremy Hunt just shot himself in the foot by announcing Esther McVey as his deputy. When Lorraine Kelly hates you, the nation won't go searching for your redeeming features ( if they exist at all).

This whole charade is going to be a blast! Jonnie Peacock has objected to his image being used by Penny Mordaunt to further her career, and the same image also features murderer Oscar Pistorius who you wouldn't really want your campaign to be associated with. Total incompetence!

Guaranteed to be hilariously bad. Interesting you listed four women. Labour ? There is no anti-women leftwing agenda at play. That's merely in your febrile imagination. It's hardly my fault if the four most out-of-their-depth people in Johnson's inner circle are female. If Williamson and Grayling were still lurking, I would have named them too. Of course, none of these six are quite as inept as Johnson himself. If there are other males who should be on my list of comically bad potential leadership candidates, who I've overlooked, do share. Raab comes the closest I think, but he's not quite in the same league.

Up to 11 declared candidates now
Patel seems likely to join that number tomorrow as she has a number of declared supporters
The next big moment is the announcement of the process details such as the number of nominations needed to actually get onto the ballot and the voting timetable.
Number of nominations seems likely to rise from the current 8 to at least 20 or even 36.
That should winnow the field somewhat.

So far the, many, candidates seem to be mainly be competing over how much tax they can cut and how 'anti woke' they can be.
Zahawi now saying he will impose budget cuts of 20% to every department which is fantasy land stuff.

They all supped at Johnsons table and as far as I am concerned none of them is fit for the office. However, I reserve my special condemnation for both Suella Braverman who seems a plain nasty piece of work and Nadhim Zahawi who, in a Sky TV interview this weekend admitted he made a mistake in claiming heating payments for his stables. Perhaps it has escaped his self indulgent mind there are thousands of people who can't afford to heat their families or themselves. Get rid of them all.

If Tories go for a BAME candidate then Pritti Patel would be my choice given her views on law and order. My personal choice would be JRM as he'd bring the gravitas required to the jo but his views on same sex marriage would make him unelectable likely. Hunt would be sage choice but no chance with the shrill McVey as his deputy but might she be a counter to nasty piece of work Band of Gold Angela Rayner.
Of the guys standing I'd prefer Javid and Zahawi to Sunak. Tugenhardt has no experience in high office and weekend warrior so I discount him. Braverman has a young family so would she really want this job so soon.
Mourdant and Truss seem popular so if Patel or JRM don't run I'd say my choice would be between those two and Sajid to lead country for next two years and then into another term after 2024/25 as that will happen if you listen to the bookies and they don't get it wrong.
I always find it funny when Labour fans moan about Tories and you look at who they have had as leader - Kinnock, Ed Miliband, Catweazle Corbyn who would have had Dianne Abbott and John McDonnell in his cabinet

The publication of the ConHome survey of party members has potentially changed the race.
1st Place - Penny Mordaunt 2nd Place - Kemi Badenoch

JFC this is such a rogue bunch! Also the Tories are making the exact same mistake Labour did by pushing for leaders who will play well with the party members but not with the electorate as a whole.
I’d personally go for Rishi - at least he’s got a plan and is competent. Penny Mordaunt seems okay also.
I think we’ll end up with Truss though, dear god!

Very good point by Sparky5000, who sits well with a retired Colonel in Malvern or the Union Conveynor in Harringay may not sit best with the centralist swing voters in a marginal seat.
Do people vote on policies or personalities or even the lesser of two evils?
Boris had that poplulist appeal but on a world stage he did look a buffoon compared to other leaders and came across as blundering. Likewise the thought of Corbyn on a world stage made me laugh. I know this is partly about image but it is also rhetoric and what they say and how they come across.
If say JVT was a politician he'd do well.

Did you see that interview with Corbyn a week or so back. Doesn't give many interviews as he doesn't trust the press really. His first comment was, my first policy was going to end homelessness in the country in a week.... and they called me mad and dangerous

Poll added…vote quickly before the final two are selected. We’ll do another poll when it’s down to 2 candidates.

I know the 5 I don't want. But not certain how to determine between the other 3.
It is certainly a diverse bunch of hopefuls which, setting all politics aside, is a positive step for our politics as a whole.

Are they that diverse really? They're still all Tories, and right-wing Tories at that. For Badenoch to be denying that white supremacy even exists in this country is a bit of a mindf***. There's blind and there's poking your own eyeballs out...

Still more diverse than every leader of the Labour Party, who have all been leftist white men. Awks! Even the Lib Dems have managed to elect, from a much smaller pool, a female leader.

NZ just said on LBC that he’d give Boris a job in his cabinet if he were PM so I think we can discount him from the proceedings!
