Boris resigns today.
So who next for the job?

Someone who will almost certainly be worse than his predecessor

Nadine would be fun

I for one hope it's Nadine, because if Boris hasn't finished off the Tories, that certainly would.

I’ve never heard of that Suella person. Bit too much like Sue Ellen for my liking!

Sue-Ellen

My guess is it's between Jeremy Hunt and Liz Truss.

Steve Baker just 'thrown' his hat into the ring. Surely the party won't go that route?

I would imagine there will be a by-election as I cannot see Boris continuing as an MP.

Ben Wallace is way ahead of the other contenders in a yougov poll of Conservative party members.

Ben Wallace is way ahead of the other contenders in a yougov poll of Conservative party members. Ben Wallace doesn't strike me as PM material although TBH none of them do.

In the early days of the government I quite liked Dominic Raab but he has proven himself to be a wet fish.
Of all of them I think I'd want Rishi Sunak. Yes there is the issues around his wife etc but when it comes to trusting someone i do at least believe he has a level head on his shoulders and would be somewhat responsible in the post. Certainly more so than any of the others.
Even Martin the money saving expert guy said yesterday that Rishi had listened to a lot of his points in a private phone call and implemented them, and even when the disagreed martin could see Rishis thinking and that it had been thought through.

Can we have a poll on here with possible contenders?

We absolutely can, but once a poll has been set up it can’t be edited to add/remove options so maybe we should wait until the contenders are officially announced?

Bin the lot of them!
Turn 10 Downing Street into a theatre with a certain intimacy but enough wings space to house Bedknobs And Broomsticks! That way What's New Pussycat? can have the Noel Coward and the House of Commons can be used for the Oklahoma! transfer.
Yes, vote for me.

I watched Kier Starmer give his angry Boris has to go interview earlier and while he started off well it was just a loop of the exact same sentences in a different order over and over again, and when asked questions he again kept repeating the same things. Hopeless.

It’s annoying if you’re watching live, but don’t MPs of all parties just keep repeating themselves largely because they know that the press will only clip out a few seconds anyway for a soundbite, which is itself repeated constantly as they try to fill a 24 hr news programme.
Glad to see Boris on his way out, finally, after a great many scandals. Also quite happy to see Priti Patel come next to last in that Yougov poll.

Suella Braverman as PM would be hysterical for all of 6 seconds, because she's got the charisma of lard and the leadership capability of sandpaper.
Bin them ALL. Every last one of them. Get Nads to go off into the sunset with BoJo, send JRM back to the 1700s where he belongs, never talk about Priti Patel EVER again, and start again.
We've had nearly 13 years of this sh*t, time for a new party to come in and see what they can sort out. And for anyone about to tell me Labour would be worse? It LITERALLY can't get worse than what we're living through. It doesn't GET worse than this.

If they want someone who's not been in the Johnson Government then Jeremy Hunt is the best bet, I know he's not universally liked but there is no denying he has experience.
Penny Mordaunt would be interesting although she's not as experienced compared to others.

I think the traditional Tory voter would be swayed by Hunt.
