I finally watched the show on a link sent to me from a friend of the whole show, and I loved it.
The score is pretty amazing in my opinion, several standout numbers, Ben and Rachel giving stellar performances, as well as the other cast members. There is an event that happens in Act II that once that happens I was really emotionally involved, but not so much before then, just enjoying the show.
I'd be intrigued to know where said video was filmed in the process, whether previews or its pre-Broadway try out. I had a few issues with the ending, which if it is the same now I am fine with, it is what it is, but I'd be intrigued to see!
Loves the show as a whole though. Great story, great cast, great score.

I assume you mean the most widely available video of the show and it's the same ending now.

I would think it's the Broadway version. I think yo would have known if it was pre-Broadway, because You Will Be Found was only written for Broadway (though a snippet from it was also in the earlier editions).

Its hard to imagine the show without it, given its so crucial to the stories arc.

Are you sure? I have a live recording of it from one of the tryouts and it's not there.

Just listening again..unfortunately I don't have any information on when this was recorded, but a song called "Part of Me" was the original before "You Will Be Found" (though there are some bits and bobs of "You Will Be Found" that are in "Part of Me As Well"). Also, "Does Anyone Have a Map?" was originally "This Could Be The Year".

Sounds like your recording is from the Arena Stage production in Washington as Anybody have a Map and You will be found were both in the off Broadway production I saw at second stage

Ooh, interesting - I never knew of any audios from that far back in the process. There are some lurking about of their New York stints, but didn't know there was anything from Washington.

I saw it in DC (and don't remember the date right now). I am so glad This Will Be the Year was changed! What a terrible earworm.

Well spurred by the recent conversation about DEH revisions I gave some of the songs that got cut a listen. Lyrically they're quite important and change the overall perception of the show, but musically they're quite throw-away - in my opinion. Its a shame the message of some of the songs didn't get carried over to the current show, but I don't think they brought anything musically important. 'You Will be Found' is a much better replacement to 'A part of me'.

Was there ever an alternative for 'To Break in a Glove'?! What a stupid song... it's definitely the one I always skip over!

I wouldn't be surprised if the cast recording producers reissue the OBC with bonus tracks that include the cut material. I personally want an alternative version of Waving Through A Window with all the dialogue.

I think it works live. It's a calm moment without heightened emotions, unnecessary drama, crazy lighting effects or social media messages projecting all over the place. I think it's a good moment to demonstrate basic bonding between Evan and the family and gives the audience somewhat of a breather. But yea, as a track on the cast recording I don't think I -ever- listed to it from beginning to end.

late to the party- recently listened to the OBC recording, obsessed.
Is it right that the show has only 8 cast members on stage throughout the show, and all the understudies are actually standbys backstage?
And if there's only one understudy who double up for another (e.g. Zoe/Alana), what happens if both leads are out at the same time?

The team do everything in their power for this NOT to happen - I might be wrong but I'm 99% sure Mamma Mia only has one understudy for all 3 dads? It's incredibly rare for two leads to be off at the same time, the producers do everything in their power to prevent this happening. Not sure what happens when it DOES happen though!!!

If one person is covering two roles and both are off then that person plays one role and the second cover for the other role goes on. If there isn't a second cover then the audience is out of luck.

I don't know about Broadway but the London Mamma Mia has 3 understudies, each of whom cover all 3 dad roles. So you'd have to have all 3 leads plus 1 of the 3 u/s all off at the same time, which would be very unlikely, before Sophie ran out of possible dads!
