Watching the news today had been like crack. The liason committee was astonishing, watching a man fall apart in real time.
Announcement has to come soon. I have champagne chilling in the fridge for the big moment. Yes whoever takes over night be awful, yes the future is uncertain, but bloody hell let us celebrate this.

I agree Mr Hunt has been quiet in the current situation it is best to play your cards close and having finished second last time if he ran against anyone else from that race he'd fancy his chances. I do wonder if Sajid and Rishi did some sort of deal amongst themselves as Mrs Patel's views would appeal more to dyed in the wool hardline Tories.

Always be careful what you wish for as a new leader can get the party behind them and the Tories will do that. The funny irony would be if Boris went and at same time Kier's lockdown fine decision came out and went the wrong way. Would Kier stick to his word ?

Jeremy Hunt to his credit has held major positions in Government and I think his chances of winning a leadership contest are fairly high.
A Sunak/Javid pact is interesting, I assume Javid would get Chancellor if Sunak become PM and vice versa.

Gove has been sacked, I wonder if they'll be anyone left by tomorrow?

I don't know her name off the top of my head, but I did see the shadow chancellor being interviewed the other day and she was the first Labour politician I have been quite impressed with. Made some valid points in a calm and professional manner

Now impacting on the physical day to day Governance, as there aren't enough ministers.

I don't know if the party could stop him calling an election. He might lose but if a PM was getting it from all sides he puts a lot of the problem members out of seats and they wouldn't get all the extra jobs/opportunities a future PM may get? People know I'm a Tory but I said a few months ago he needs to go for the sake of the party. 12 years we've been back in power only the last few with any sort of majority and that was dominated by Brexit and Covid. I wonder if Mr Javid regrets resigning in Feb 2020 as a couple more year's as Chancellor and it would have made more impact and he'd have been at top of the queue to replace Boris. I am questioning if you are True Blue Tory though. Too nice

I don't know if my biggest laugh of the day was Ian Blackford gravely reading Bozo's dead parrot obituary, Chris Bryant destroying everything Bozo uttered at committee, Suella BravuraWokeNonsense declaring herself the next PM or Govey getting sacked in a hissy fit when everyone else was resigning. Tomorrow has a lot to live up to.

50 MPs have now resigned. 50! Absoutely delicious thing to wake up to. Now, it works either way. If he resigns, he's gone and I will be immeasurably happy, even if only for a brief moment until the next one takes over. Or he continues to dig his heels in and spectacularly loses the confidence vote next week and is gone in the most undignified and humiliating way possible. Either way, he's done, and what is happening now will be his legacy - worst PM in history.

Don't think Bozo has enough friends in the army to stage a coup. Maybe the men in white coats can do what the men in grey suits failed to achieve?

Blimey, the second you write something it's out of date. 53! Would it be hyperbole to say that we can't even call it a Government any more? They physically don't; have enough ministers to carry out even the basic day to day work, legislation meetings are being suspended. Living through history.

Vote is leader of conservative party not prime minister isn't it. Starmer should call for vote of no confidence in parliament. What a choice for a tory MP

Can't help worrying what more damage he can do in the next 3 months. He'll have to be gone way sooner if he can't muster enough supporters for a cabinet, though, surely?

There has been so many twists and turns, so many lies, shabbiness- personally and politically.
Although I am not a particularly political, this has been gripping.
I give it 5 years and will be an extremely well written play that will be playing either at The National or the West End, with an expected Broadway transfer.

There’s a very good bbc docu-drama on YouTube called “Margaret” starring Lindsay Duncan about Thatcher’s final days and how they all those men she’d been handbagging for years stuck the knife in. Fascinating but just goes to show what a ruthless and crazy business Politics is.
