Fried chicken bao and a Taiwan Gold Medal beer from the Bao in Borough a Market today: I was going to stay indoors all weekend but I thought I’d go out and face the world rather than sit at home watching tv all day (I have finally got to the very end of Mad Men and have only two episodes left to watch but after taking so long to get to the end I don’t want to rush things)

Lunch was really an odd crossover between lunch and dinner, because it's Sunday and time moves slower: Quorn-based sort of bolognese, whole wheat fusilli and a ton of grated cheese on top. (Dinner will be ice cream: B&J Moophoria salted caramel brownie. To create the illusion that I am back at Bridge theatre for A Midsummer Night's Dream)

My lunch is usually tragic, but due to having friends round for dinner on Sat eve I have just chowed down leftover fish pie and strawberry cheesecake. Feel extremely fat and in need of a doze.

Salmon glazed with yuzu and mustard, with a soba noodle/spring onion/broccoli/toasted sesame salad in a yuzu and green pepper dressing.

I had an eggplant, no time to cook, and no clue what to do with it, so lunch was an oven-roasted eggplant, chickpeas and feta cheese salad. It turned out pretty decent.

I don’t know about how busy it will be at the moment as pubs have started to reopen since my previous post but it was nowhere near as busy as it used to be, you could walk about at your leisure without being queued up behind someone rubbernecking while eating a sandwich and pushing a buggy. A couple of the traders (the beer shop for example) were only letting a couple of people in at a time.

Lunch today was.... at a restaurant!!! Outdoors in a large garden, with a good 10 feet between each table and only 1/2 to 2/3 of the tables occupied. Hot French fries (skinny French ones, not chips) and a Greek salad. I wore a mask except when eating, used hand sanitizer before, during and after, so fingers crossed I won't pay for my indulgence.
As someone said on the How Was Your Day? topic, it felt great to be doing something normal!!

It's strange, actually. The infection rates are now similar to those in mid-March but somehow it seems scarier than it did then.
Meanwhile, I had cod and hash browns today.

I have always had my own crockery and cutlery at work! I would say that right now nothing's too weird if it makes you feel more comfortable, take it with you - if it feels too much when you're there who else would know it's in your pocket anyway? Enjoy that first meal out your way

The people that I find annoying are the ones who act like it's all over. As you say, infection rates are the same as mid-March, when people were willing to shelter-in-place. It's no safer now than then, but (especially in the US, my home) people are all "let us be free!" Governmental responses aside, there are still substantial numbers of people getting ill, and I don't consider that my personal risk has really changed much. We know more about what's safer [masks] and what's not [indoor dining], but that's about the only change.

My lunch was a quick stir-fry (paprika, zucchini, noodles + spices) followed by a coffee and the newest sweet addiction: Digestives Thins with dark chocolate. @thematthew , strange times call for strange measures: if it would make you feel more comfortable, I see no reason not to take your own cutlery. Statistically, the risk of catching the virus by using restaurant cutlery is probably not high, but if that's what it takes to get you to enjoy eating out, go for it! Just look at how many things we thought were strange just a few months ago are fully normal now, it's just a matter of perspective.

I went out for lunch today for the first time since early March. Liver and bacon, with lemon meringue tart for dessert.
The pub has removed some of its tables to space things out a bit. There's a perspex screen in front of the till and the waitress was wearing a visor while the chef had a face mask. Paper menus instead of the old plastic ones, and cutlery provided as you order instead of being set ready on the table in advance. There was also a new vacant/occupied sign on the outer doors of the toilets, effectively turning the male and female toilets into two very large single cubicles.

I preferred the mince parts to the stew parts. I'm not a big stew fan in general & especially not in summer, as I feel it's a winter food.
