Hard-hitting, but not to be missed, I think.

So, being fed up of being locked down my compact city flat I acquired an Oculus Quest 2, a VR headset that is surprisingly affordable at under £300 and doesn't require an external computer to run anything. Although the games have an appeal, as well as a video shot in 360, I also got it as an alternative to a bigger TV. And an area it has really excelled in is theatre recordings. Being sat in a virtual cinema with Billy Elliot Live blown large across the screen, and great sound to boot, has been the closest I have got to attending a show since last March (bar a couple I worked on but they aren't quite the same). I actually got rather emotional when crowd shots were shown with everyone cheering or clapping along in Merry Christmas Maggie Tatcher. Obviously not for everyone, but it certainly helped scratch my theatrical itch.

Gary Barlow has started up his crooner sessions again every Monday , Wednesday and Friday at 5pm on Youtube. The first 2 are here. Rod Stewart and Aloe Black. Gary seems to have the ability to be able to harmonise with pretty much anyone.

I dont think anyone has posted about the Sunday evening 8pm concerts which Stuart Matthew Price and his wife Heather Lundstedt have been doing. You can see previous ones on his Youtube or Facebook page- they include a Sondheim one, an Andrew LW one, some Disney, and some with more of a mixture of songs. I've been enjoying them- they're free but they give the chance to "tip".

A company called Stage Russia is offering paid streams of some Russian productions on Vimeo, with English subtitles. A couple of Russian musicals are included. I haven't tried this service but it looks interesting. vimeo.com/stagerussiahd

Right then. This is the one we've all been waiting for.
From the same team that brought us the award-winning Standing at the Sky's Edge, tickets are now on sale for the world-famous Crucible Theatre's streamed production of The Band Plays On.
Live on 15 March, then on demand from 16 to 28 March.
V. strong cast - Jocasta Almgill, Sandra Marvin, Jodie Prenger, Maimuna Memon and Anna-Jayne Casey taking a short break from delivering parcels at £1 a pop.
Turn the volume up to 11 and dance like nobody's watching!

The Kiln Theatre (formerly the Tricycle) is doing a free, ticketed, rehearsed reading of Girl on an Altar on 5th March. It's a retelling of the story of Clytemnestra and Agamemnon and the cast includes Adjoa Andoh and Sharon Duncan-Brewster. When you check out there's the option to add a donation.

So as we head towards a possible re-opening, who are you the most annoyed with for not releasing a recording or streaming.

So as we head towards a possible re-opening, who are you the most annoyed with for not releasing a recording or streaming. None. I'm grateful to every theatre company that's embraced the changing landscape and posted anything, be it a pro-shot full stage show, to a semi-staged single camera rehearsal. NT Live led the way with their free distributions on youtube but I've seem some brilliant pieces also from loads of independent theatre groups. I respect those that haven't had the facility or financial capacity to do anything too and hope they're able to recover into a position of being able to produce again soon.

Sara Crowe and Ian Hallard star in Hallard’s playwriting debut for Jermyn Street Theatre: www.jermynstreettheatre.co.uk/show/adventurous/“Adventurous” is a comedy about two single people trying online dating during lockdown. I enjoyed their work together in “Tonight at 8:30” so this might be quite fun.
