"Never complain, never explain" has rather gone out of the window with some of the younger lot hasn't it?

Yes it's a real shame and such bad timing in the Platinum Jubilee year when there should be celebration.

He’s nothing but a man child. Honestly, it’s like watching a reality TV show star milk every opportunity given to them before their 15 minutes is up, because they don’t actually have any real talents. So the proceeds go to charity - fair enough - but I imagine the advance was huge and kept in his pocket. The real problem is he thinks he has fans, but all he’s doing is continuously annoying fans of the royal family and no one else actually cares. Ironically, they left the royal family citing privacy, but now all he’s doing is feeding gossip to the media in an attempt to keep his commercial value up. I honestly can’t wait for this circus to be over. Literally this, moves to America for privacy. Starts Spotify podcast, makes a multimillion pound Netflix deal, goes on late late show, sells his story to the media, has Oprah interview and now a book. Where does it end, hopefully he accepts soon enough his 30 seconds of fame are over and moves on.😂

If we do have another lockdown and I need to stock up on some toilet paper, I’m sure there will be a mountain of copies of this ‘memoir’ in my local Poundland shortly: I’m sure his words of wisdom will only be good for wiping backsides on.
My goal in life now, to live out the rest of my days without reading anything either of them done, not watching any of their tv shows :movies, and avoiding interviews with either of them. I will actively avoid paying money to any newspaper or tv channel that pays them for any ‘exclusives’ too.

moves to America for privacy. To be fair, I think he moved for control over his privacy... sharing what he wants to share, when and how he wants. It didn't really work, because 80% of the articles constantly appearing about him and Meghan are comments from "palace insiders", "courtiers" and "experts" like Lady Colin Campbell rather than anything initiated by him. Having said that, I suspect whatever market there might be for his memoirs is oversaturated at best.

Good for him. He and Meghan were and continue to be treated disgracefully by the Royal Family. As far as I’m concerned anyone who earns their own living - and Harry’s basically the only royal who does - is free to do whatever they like. If people don’t like it then just don’t read it.
As for “never complain never explain” none of the royals except the Queen and maybe Anne have ever abided by that. Charles has whinged on and on about his terrible childhood and how sh*t the Queen was as a mum plenty, his public feud with Edward is just ludicrous, and William’s a thousand times worse. William spends so much time complaining about the press (Tatler, the Rose thing), lying to the press (Covid and Scotland), censoring the press (C4), threatening the press (Rose again), and leaking stories about his brother to the press (all the stuff with Jason Knauf and Christian Jones), it’s a miracle he ever gets any work done.
Oh wait he doesn’t.

He has far more privacy here in the States as in general, people don't care what he and Meghan are doing.

samuelwhiskers He's by far not the only one I could level that accusation at! I think it would be far better if they all kept themselves busy with their patronages etc.
I'd much rather see pictures of them taken at the RNLI launching a new lifeboat/visiting the 3rd Tewkesbury Cubs who've been a pack for 100 years/watching the tennis at Wimbledon than giving personal interviews!

Boy, Meghan can't get a break, can she? She's not traveling up to Balmoral with Harry and speculation on the BBC is that it says something telling about their relationship. Kate isn't traveling with William and is praised for staying at home for the children's first day at school.
And you know if Meghan was photographed arriving with Harry, she'd be accused of hogging the limelight. (This isn't to say they don't deserve criticism for their handling of their departure from 'The Firm' and since. But still...)

Having read Tom Bower’s book about her I don’t think she deserves a break.
This is the same Tom Bower who has written hatchet jobs on Corbyn, Boris, Blair, Prince Charles and many others and yet has never been sued. Even since the publication of Revenge, the extremely litigious Meghan has been silent. That says everything.

That's just Witchell and I don't think Kate was being praised for staying at home - more explaining why she wasn't travelling (as first claimed) as Kate too can't do right for doing wrong with some. I'd say it's more likely that with no Kate then it would have been odd if Meghan went, but whether or not it's a convenient relief to some - who knows? I suppose if this them saying goodbye to the Queen then the pressure will be on Charles more than the other children, so it makes sense that his children also attend. But it seems a bit of a shame that the other grandchildren seem to be overlooked.
I know it's daft, but it felt like the Queen would go on forever.

Two of the people directly involved in events the book heavily discusses are on record as saying it’s lies. Bower has also said very racist things about black women other than Meghan - his comments about the Caribbean female politicians and women living in that area re the disastrous Cambridge tour were awful. Bower peddles lies and hate - the book was written specifically to be a hatchet job. The reason he hasn’t been sued is because no one wants to give him ammunition and attention. Not being sued doesn’t mean someone is right or truthful. Plenty of people and publications have made up lies about Meghan and not been sued. It isn’t really true that she’s litigious - the very rare times she’s sued have been insert extreme circumstances.

She sued the Mail for copyright and privacy violation because they printed a private letter which allegedly had murkier skullduggery going on behind it. She didn’t sue them for libel, though they have objectively libelled her (since they’ve been forced to print retractions). And she and Harry also sued a pap agency for taking pictures of their child illegally.
She’s never sued anyone for libel, has she? Made complaints (which all the younger royals do - the Cambridges are far more aggressive in making legal threats and complaints about press coverage) but not actually taken anyone to court. So why would she start now?

Even since the publication of Revenge, the extremely litigious Meghan has been silent. That says everything. That book is riddled with errors - verifiable errors, that is, the other people involved have said that it is wrong, or there’s actual evidence posted on social media of the error (‘Meghan didn’t meet x’ - picture of them hugging on Instagram). There’s long Twitter threads documenting the errors. Some people are not worth suing - they’re not credible to start with, and they don’t have enough impact. Suing just spreads the falsehoods more widely (aka The Streisand Effect).

Let’s agree to differ eh She sued the Mail on Sunday to make a very specific point about her relationship with her father, and becomes she directly blames the press for the deterioration of that relationship (rightly or wrongly). But since you’ve gone to the trouble of reading Bower’s book I don’t expect you’re interested in factual accuracy.

Might this thread be frozen for a while for the sake of common decency? The story now is not these two young tyros. It's the passing of an old lady who's done her best for 70 years and more.
Maybe the celeb thing can be taken up further down the line?

Anyone going to be watching the documentary that drops today ?
It's not for me but no doubt I'll read the odd article about it.

I liked the bits where Meg announces her return to acting in 2.22 Ghost Story later next year, and Harry shares with us his Trans dilemma.

It's great that they can protect their family and their privacy in this way. It must be dreadful to have your lives blighted by being followed by cameras and journali...
Oh...
That's exactly what they have taken millions of dollars to allow.
Self-serving narcissistic hypocrites that they are.

Well, there is a big difference between inviting the press in and the press intruding on you uninvited and being fed stories and (potentially) lies by your family or their employees to distract from other family drama? At least in this way they have control over what is being said and can put their story across. I doubt I'll be spending 6 hours watching it but I'm sure lots of people will, either cos they are interested or because they are trying to find new fodder to hate on them with. LOL

Sick of the sight of the pair of them. How convenient to have cameras around just when she spontaneously cries out of actual real emotion and not because she's an actress who bragged she could cry on cue at all. Unpleasant, bitter pair of people who didn't get what they wanted one way or another and now play perpetual victims.
When I remember how happy I was for them when they got married I feel like an absolute mug.

It is such a shame it turned out like this. They could have been such a force for good in the UK and around the world whilst in the Royal Family. How Meghan can claim she never knew or had seen a walkabout is merely one claim that appears blatantly false.
