recused , george22 surely doesn't need my help to defend himself, but let me tell you that your comment was incredibly rude, gratuitous and obtuse.

Talk about good money for old rope. She was out-performed by every single one of her Broadway counterparts in Legally Blonde. And more than fine in Funny Girl but really not much more than serviceable in the end. Overall, she's fine but not exactly the second coming. I think Georgexx might need to see a few dozen more shows before posting any more ridiculous "reviews". You're really trying to make your mark on the board tonight, aren't you! Really quite nasty.

If you dislike Sheridan as much as this hate filled post would suggest then perhaps it would be best to keep away from a thread about her?

"hate filled post"? Come on now, that's just ridiculous.
I think she's an OK actress but nothing close to brilliant. That was my point.

Rescued, that's fair enough but I don't understand your comments about me having to see a dozen more shows or not writing ridiculous reviews? Please explain. Also, why did you come onto a thread about her to write comments about how you don't like her?

I've calculated I've seen 40 performances so far this year (another 10 to the end of the year = approx 1 per week although there are a fair few repeat shows in there). Funny Girl was an absolute favourite and a great deal of that for me was Sheridan Smith's delightful performance.
I also don't understand the point of coming on to a thread about a particular artist to rubbish them. Not your cuppa tea - fine, but why do you think anyone else would be interested?

Just picked up on this post.
Recused. RUDE!!!!
Nothing wrong with George22 reviews who is a valued forum member. You don't rate Sheridan, fine but no need to be nasty to others.

Did anyone catch David Walliams and Friend with Sheridan Smith? This series is more miss than hit but she did a good job of some pretty naff material and we even got a bit of singing.

Watched it but thought it was abit silly. Didn't really enjoy it that much if I'm honest. Does anybody know when the Shannon Matthews drama she is starring in is due to air? I thought it was late 2016 but obviously not

Hopefully it will be out this winter. It's more of a winter drama than a summer one I would guess.

Maybe in Feb/March 2017?

I saw this the other day, as you say very hit and miss on the whole series but this was best episode so far. I loved the Barbie skit, actually reminded me of someone I work with!!

Looks as if she might be back in favour with the press again after very positive reviews for her BBC drama last night.

Yes she was good. Some people have criticised her accent but I wouldn't be able to say one way or the other.

She was amazing during the run in Edinburgh Playhouse. She looked really humbled when everyone gave her a standing ovation at the end of the show (on both nights I've seen her). Looking on Instagram it seems she did a really nice thing on the last night - she sent roses to people at the stage door. So sweet.

Looking on Instagram it seems she did a really nice thing on the last night - she sent roses to people at the stage door. So sweet. I went to Stage Door on Saturday Night so can confirm that is what happened. Darius came out before Sheridan with a big bouquet of roses and apologized on behalf of her, saying she had friends in seeing the show so might be awhile. He said for anyone who didn't what to wait, they can have a rose from Sheridan, so people came up and got a rose if they wanted one. It was such a lovely gesture. Sheridan came out about about 20 minutes later and apologized to everyone for the wait and was just lovely, taking the time to chat to everyone. Both her and Darius were just so sweet, gracious and down to earth. It was a lovely Stage Door experience.

Sheridan Smith has announced details of her debut album. Titled Sheridan: The Album, the collection will feature a range classic songs including several from family favourite musicals; such as City of Stars from La La Land, And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going from Dreamgirls and For Forever from the Broadway smash Dear Evan Hansen. The album will be released on November 3 via Warner Music Group label East West Records and will be launched on November 5 with a one-off special on ITV. MORE: All the big albums still to be released in 2017 "It’s been an amazing experience to be able to record an album of my favourite songs,” Sheridan said. "It was always a dream of mine to release my own album so I can't wait for you all to hear it soon." Sheridan: The Album also includes a sprinkling of re-workings of pop classics, including Crazy by Gnarls Barkley and Robert Palmer's Addicted To Love, while her rendition of Cilla Black's Anyone Who Had A Heart from her lead role in ITV's Cilla will also feature. The actress has previously demonstrated her vocal talents in several award-winning roles in musicals, including Into The Woods, Little Shop of Horrors, Legally Blonde and Funny Girl. Interesting mix. I had an awful feeling it would be all pop stuff but so pleased there is some MT stuff in there

I thought it would be standards and songs from her most successful shows. Addicted to Love is a slightly strange choice - more a man's song IMO and always think of the iconic video.
Still want them to do a follow up to Cilla from late 1960's up to when she came back big on the TV in 1980's. Cilla was 26 to 41/42 in this time period, so Sheridan at 36 is right age to play that time span.
They could do later years in a few years time or with an older actress.

And I Am Telling You??? I'm not really sure if any white actress should attempt to sing this, let alone Sheridan who is fabulous but doesn't really seem like the type to carry off THAT song 😬

Some interesting choices... not sure she can pull off the majority of them without some heavy auto-tuning 😬 Also.. and I am telling you? Can't wait to hear it.

agh..Sheridan Smith. I don't understand why England insists on making her a star. I just don't get it. The worse offense was seeing her in Funny Girl, a part that is clearly written for an Ashkenazi Jewess. If this nonsense casting would have happened in New York, New Yorkers would have revolted.
And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going? Is this for real? She must be joking. Oh, honey..we need to talk.
