Not to be too crude but I wonder if his arse ever gets jealous of the constant sh*t that comes out his mouth.

From The Stage: "Lloyd Webber: We've reworked Cinderella to give audiences the show they deserve." Well that'll learn everyone who paid to see it previously! I mean I definitely didn't deserve the hot mess I saw in July...

Before the pile on starts, that's a pretty click baity headline. I think he actually was explaining the covid shutdown as not wanting to put on shows with depleted cast or crew. I'm paraphrasing but something like that. He says plenty of objectionable things all on his own without misleading headlines.

With the circle closed and struggling to sell seats. How is this even an option for Broadway. Had this actually started ON Broadway it would’ve closed long ago due to poor sales. They seem a bit more cut throat over there with closures

Not piling on at all, but trust me I was sitting 6 feet away from him during his “speech” and that’s exactly what he said, as well as covid being “media manipulation”…it was all very embarrassing and left everyone feeling uncomfortable with only a few die hards clapping. The funniest part is also that the inclusion of the 10 second bird scene in the first song and a slightly more energetic bows section were the only changes I noticed since I seen it with Georgina in December.

well he wrote the show so he's entitled to think he can save it Can we take bets on who he'll blame once this closes in London? His usual go-tos are the designer and the cast. Very occasionally the director. And sometimes he blames his own audience (i.e. the Internet)...he seemed to think a certain other message board that existed at the time of a previous bomb was full of "fake and malicious bloggers", IIRC. My guess is he'll lay the blame on the cast this time based on what's happened to date. All those things you mentioned all pertain to Love Never Dies, and I have to say he was right about the 'bloggers'. I believe he will blame the government this time round, and quite possibly covid too. I wonder what the cast, and Carrie in particular really think of him. If this does go to Broadway, I wonder whether she will go.

Obsessed its got to the point where they're like "there's flesh on show lets put that picture in even though its the big plot point!"
The chaos of this show is...kinda inspiring.

Just why would they advertise the ‘spoiler’? this show gets more weird by the second.

That people paying full price to see his show were sharing their opinions of the poor set design and storyline line? Because of course, those things were perfect weren’t they? Oh no, he endlessly fiddled with the show to try to improve it, and preferred the design of the Oz production. So what was wrong with people expressing that? He was not right to blame bloggers, he should have blamed himself. Just as he should be right now with Cinderella. But when your head is that far up your arse it’s hard to see the truth.

He'll definitely blame Covid when this closes this year (as I'm sure it will). Covid is basically a get out of jail free card for any number of sins... To be fair, it hasn't made the journey of the show easy, but if the 'product' was up to scratch then the show could have got over that. But, for what ever reason, this musical just doesn't seem to have caught the public's imagination. There has been zero buzz around it. No one beyond MT fans even seems to really know or care that it exists.

Not to be too crude but I wonder if his arse ever gets jealous of the constant sh*t that comes out his mouth. That has to be quote of the day! In all honestly, ALW has lost a lot of goodwill, it was good he invested in doing trials to see if they could make theatres safe during the first lockdown and also volunteering as part of the vaccine trials but his recent comments about Covid being media control and foreigners wanting to buy British theatres makes me think he's lost it.

Yeah ok - **Spoiler Alert** At the end of “Buns and roses” a new part is added where an ensemble member comes out with a singing bird and then she acts like she’s been bitten and shouts “The bastard bit me”…then it goes onto the statue unveiling. It’s literally about 10 seconds long and adds nothing to the show, it’s genuinely bemusing if this is the only change they made during the entire closure.

If this does go to Broadway, I wonder whether she will go. I suppose they do all pertain to Love Never Dies, but also to many other previous failures. He blamed Trevor Nunn for Starlight on Broadway, saying Nunn had turned it into something he never intended (ditto with Aspects); he blamed William Dudley's designs for The Woman in White, saying he was never very happy with them in London (not that that stopped him from transferring an identical production to Broadway, where he then - rather distastefully, to my mind - seemed to blame Maria Friedman's cancer for the short run there). He also blamed Patti for Sunset (version 1) in London. And I don't agree he was right about the bloggers at all - all their complaints regarding Love Never Dies were entirely valid and haven't gone away. Most critics repeated them and still do, even in the most recent incarnation that toured North America (i.e. plot, book, and lyrics suck, as do the character deformations). It's never himself. Never. I suspect you're right though that this time he'll blame the Government. He seems to be regularly attributing blame to the cast though, first with that rant from Majorca and now in that Stage article where he says they gave "vague" performances.

My pet theory is that COVID is to blame but not for the reasons he thinks. I saw it at the 2nd preview and thought it was good but still needed work as might be expected in a preview. I saw it again later in the run and was then disappointed it hadn't improved more. I think the creative team spent so long working on it in lockdown they become to wedded to it and couldn't be ruthless with bits that didn't work or see different ways of doing it.

I know, I’m sure it’s been discussed though that it wasn’t originally in the show but has now been added in. I’m almost certain it wasn’t in it when I first saw it, maybe I’m wrong! It’s even worse if so though as that means the only change will have been the new dancing during the bows.

If an actors performance is described as ‘vague’ surely that’s a directing problem…..

Honestly if he even suggests he should have got money from the Cultural Recovery Fund then it will not be a good look for him! You don't see Sonia Friedman or The Panters blaming other people for their flops or making questionable comments, they know how to be dignified when talking to the media.

So adding some pointless swearing in a pointless side scene to make the show modern and edgy. And that was the only change? What is going on? 😂😂😂

Just proves how clueless and indecisive the creatives are. Out of all the changes they could make, they chose this + a graffiti penis on the statue... No words. I'll be absolutely shocked if this turns out to be a hit on Broadway...
