No-one knows what may be going on inside someone else's head or in their life, and to judge her in the way you are doing is pathetic. Unless the person in question is putting their life out on social media to be judged? No. That still doesn't give anyone the right to assume anything about anyone else's life. People create personas, it's very easy to do. I've spent much of my life outwardly appearing to be fine when inside I'm anything but, and Carrie is someone who has been outspoken in the past about mental health herself. Kindness costs nothing but in this thread it is clearly lacking. I sincerely hope you all treat people you actually meet in real life with a bit more compassion and a lot less judgement. You never know, it may make all the difference in the world.

Because unlike you she is marketing elements of her life and persona on social media for money. It is a performance for money. CHF’s performance is what we are commenting on. If anyone feels this thread stretches beyond that and therefore breaks the rules here please feel free to report the relevant posts.

CHF’s performance is what we are commenting on. It's not though, you're basically accusing her of not being genuinely ill! Or at least speculating as to whether she is or not. That to me crosses a line. As you recognise, she makes money from social media. That means she has certain obligations to post things. Doesn't mean they necessarily accurately reflect her real life or her current state of health. Not everything is necessarily public. I don't see the point in reporting posts given a moderator clearly thinks they're ok.

The great thing about reporting a post is that all of the admin team see it and get to comment / decide on whether action should be taken.

It was interesting - a few weeks ago when the whole cinderella/ALW "feud" was the topic - a few people sided with the cast citing ALW's "history" - namely the Patti LuPone/Sunset debacle. One major difference that gave legitimacy to Patti being mistreated was that she remained a professional. She was furious for sure and people knew enough of her feeling slighted - but she missed few performances and rallied in the role till the very end.
For Cinderella, CHF should be grateful for ALW... Throughout the pandemic, she was already the announced star, had opportunities to draw attention to herself (and the show) when there was little/no new "news" for theatre. This whole entitlement routine where she feels justified to call out ill, do other public events, post online and then go off on mental/physical health for anyone daring to ask questions is ridiculous.

My only view on this is that I feel people should be more compassionate. I realise I am shouting in to the void because tittle-tattle about actors and the industry has happened forever. I just think we need to remember that there are real people behind the characters/masks/costumes. They have feelings and are flesh and blood, mere mortals just like us.

I said about twenty pages back or something ridiculous, before the ALW call, before this latest business, "what is going to happen next?!". It really is just one thing after another with this show and its troubled cast.
I give it a maximum of two weeks before there is another leak/social media drama regarding this show - and I think we all know it will either involve our leading lady or the composer. Or maybe both.
It just keeps. On. Happening.

CHF doesn't need ALW, if anything he needs her. She's had successful runs in Les Mis, Addams Family & Heathers and has written several bestselling books. Her fans will support her in shows and they're not exactly the typical audience for an ALW show.
Illness comes in many forms and I'd much rather a performer realised that they weren't in the right frame of mind or physically able to perform. Performing is exhausting.

My friend's fiance gets up at 5am Monday to Friday, so he can get to work in time for when his shift starts at 6am. He then spends at least eight hours, often 10, sometimes 12, beating a hot lump of metal into shape. That's exhausting!

CHF doesn't need ALW, if anything he needs her. Can I ask why? As opposed to recasting the role with any number of talented young women vying for West End roles?

Apparently she went on today, before going on holiday next week. Unreal. Her alternate should also be up for the same awards as her. Of course, she deserves a holiday. But she missed several performances this week, but managed to be well enough to go to a ritzy event and sing, and then was too sick again to go to work. Quite ridiculous.
I do have compassion for performers. But there’s a level of ridiculousness here it’s hard to understand.

She could have asked to be a lead with someone else being alt

Performing is exhausting. outside of the west end bubble and ‘fans’ I don’t think Miss CHF is as influential star with pulling power as one might think. With her social media interaction on Twitter usually between 0 and 13 people commenting (a little higher when she’s arguing with someone) I’m not sure that’s entirely true that her ‘fan base’ are the ones keeping this show afloat. The name of ALW is still strong despite the controversies. I’m sure people taking a punt on tickets in Leicester Square would be more familiar with his name than hers let’s be real. Re: ‘Performing is exhausting’ Maybe a lead like Sutton Foster or one of the ensemble from Newsies or 42nd street might find their show exhausting, I’m not exactly sure what is so draining for Cinders in Cinderella? Genuinely curious.

What I take annoyance with is the way can be well enough to go to something like a charity gala between two performances when shes too unwell to work. It just seems quite phony to me.

I've also spent most of my life as a teacher which is a sort of performance. IMO banging metal all day is less exhausting than keeping a group engaged in the task in hand. Yes your body aches all over but it is good mentally. There are many ways to get exhausted - personally i think being a nurse/doctor which is physically demanding and often making life/death decisions must be one of the most tiring jobs. Please note the "In My Opinion" - I understand others might disagree.

Back in November 2017 I wrote on the performances section of this website about being the mother of a, by then already recovering, 'Hopeful'. Hours of my life were lost to hanging around at book signings and public appearances and going to shows that I didn't want to see. I'm not complaining about this in that it is all part of parenthood, but I did find the whole CHF roadshow irksome in the extreme - the nadir being the overpriced tat (including tea bags). I've no doubt that she is very qualified at what she does professionally but I found all the add-ons to be distasteful. My daughter, now 20 and in her final year at university, has long left any interest in Ms Hope Fletcher and her pinky promises behind (she still loves musical theatre though - she texted from the cinema while waiting for West Side Story to begin the other day). I'm guessing that many other youngsters have similarly moved on. I'm not sure that CHF, given the age she now is, has quite the same appeal to a 14 year old today, she's surely less relatable. It just makes me wonder about who she is bringing in in terms of audience these days. But I do hope they sort all this nonsense around Cinderella out, as so many jobs clearly depend on it, and since it should be acting as a gateway drug to other theatre experiences, just as Les Mis did for so many others.

As someone mentioned before, there is a big difference between doing a whole show and singing one song. Also, as someone who doesn't follow her on social media, did she do this gala thing representing herself only or was it a "CHF from Cinderella" performance, therefore her also representing the show? Plus, unrelatedly, if her performance at that gala wouldn't have been ok-ed by her company manager, I very much doubt she would have done it, let alone post it all over her social media. I am sure she is beyond caring to a certain extent, but that would be a sackable offence afaik, so doubt she would go that far.

The subscription boxes 😅 A couple of teabags, a piece of chocolate, a cardboard bookmark and a letter from Carrie. Sixteen quid thank you! I mean, she has some nerve really but I kind of admire the chutzpah of it all.

She sang a song. All this takes energy, its not just singing a song. You’re “on” the entire time at these events. If she couldn’t work the night before or after, she should’ve backed out of the event.
