There hasn't been a great new play this year, unless that hot mess at the Palace is a forerunner which I haven't seen yet?

Harry Potter will storm the technical awards. I haven't yet seen it but based on reviews it sure seems that way.

I expect Harry Potter to smash best new play and still can be very confident in my prediction without seeing it.

Best New Musical will be an interesting race... in my mind, Groundhog Day will win. I don't think Aladdin has much of a shot, School of Rock is yet to open... it will certianly be an interesting race.

I think it's safe to say that, unless the King Lear production is a hot boo boo mess, Miss Jackson (Olivier-less legend) is winning Actress. Billie Piper seems to be the current front runner! I'd put my money on Billie Piper and Harriet Walter for nominations. With Glenda Jackson that leaves, what, two spaces? Maybe Lisa Dwan, or is the play too abstruse? I can think of a lot more strong male leads this year than female leads, sadly.

It's funny that Fanny Brice and Effie White, two of the - I don't know - most iconic theatre characters (ever), will be up against each other, is it possible that someone else wins? It would be surprising.

If Sunset is eligable, those three are dead set for a nomination... I want to say alongside Gina Beck for Show Boat which I would say is also a great possibility. It will be the fifth slot that is the most interesting.

Gina Beck should totally be nominated for Best Actress, Rebecca Trehearn should get a nod for Best supporting actress as well

Maybe Lisa Dwan, or is the play too abstruse? Not eligible because too few performances?

Loads of people loved Flick on here, a lot more than me, it will be up there, but c'mon no one is going to stop that juggernaut, remember the Oliviers is a producers awards and is there to award great theatre and to further promote outstanding work.
If the Flick beat Potter tun the West End will go into meltdown.
Potter winning the Olivier is as predictable as Hamilton winning the Tony.
I do recognise how great the Flick was though.

I'm sure the Vic's King Lear will be all over these noms - Jackson for best actress, Celia Imrie a sure-fire supporting actress nominee for her Goneril. Do we know what way this Lear is being staged yet as in - modern dress, minimal etc?

Pity that Kenny Morgan is not eligible. Paul Keating would be a front runner, as would the play.

She was very good in it, but since the critics trashed it I doubt she will be remembered. Is Harriet Walter eligible for the Shakespeare trilogy? Her Prospero alone should win her the award !

After seeing the show tonight, it won't get this many by any stretch, but I wouldn't mind The Go-Between getting nominations for Michael, the three kids playing Leo, Gemma and also the lighting, which I thought was brilliant!

I honestly think Michael should win. I've not seen him in anything before but he was great. Who's he up against? (In theory.)
