Just read in the Metro that, along with Lucie Jones taking over as Jenna, Ashley Roberts (of Pussycat Dolls fame) will be taking over as Dawn... If you’re going to stunt cast at least pick someone the public likes? Can she even sing? She seems SO miscast. What the heck?! This is nothing against Ashley Roberts but why on earth is Laura leaving so soon? 😩 I love her as Dawn. I sincerely hope it’s because she wanted to leave earlier because she has another show or something and not that they pushed her out early for Ashley. Kat and Jack were always only doing a short stint but I assumed the others would have contracts up until the end of Oct at least. As for Ashley as Dawn, I could see her doing well in the part. Never heard her solo singing voice though. Yeah Kat on her insta said she has a charity event in nyc tonight and a couple of personal days, which were all pre-approved. |

I have been a bit under the whole issue with Waitress, which i know people have many, and not been so bothered but i have to say if this is true that Ashley Roberts is replacing Laura Baldwin, that's really the pits. What has Laura done to deserve being replaced like that after only a few months? It doesn't seem fair. I'm really miffed if true.

I mean nothing has officially been announced by Waitress so it seems a bit weird. I (personally) think Ashley is adorable but not necessarily a great fit for Dawn.
However I cannot find ANYTHING beyond that metro article to suggest this is true...

The only confirmed departures so far are Kat and Jack. Maybe it’s part of a marketing plan or covering Laura’s holiday. ‘For 8 shows only see PCD and Strictly star Ashley Roberts...’ Is she not a little statuesque for Dawn? I hope it’s something like that, but that’s a lot of prop work to figure out for 8 days only! 😆 I’m going to refuse to believe this is true until it’s officially announced, lol. |

I don't have a problem necessarily with her taking on the role itself, the problem for me is if they just randomly decided to replace Laura with her. It's not Ashley's fault so nothing against her but taking Laura out the show and replacing her with a 'celeb', or actually anyone, after just a few months, when she's been doing a perfectly good job, is really poor.

No. As long as you can play the character of Dawn well, I think you can get away with not having an amazing voice. I saw Katie Lowes (from Scandal) as Dawn in NYC, which was kinda stunt casting, and really enjoyed her Dawn, but I would definitely put her in the “can sing pretty well but isn’t a great singer” category. |

‘When He See’s Me’ has a quite technical switch between head & chest that was even a little underpowered when I saw Laura do it. What a less proficient vocalist would do to it is a bit of a worry/terrifying (delete depend on level of botheredness 😂).

Is she disliked by the public? Well she was continually in the Strictly dance off! I just find her quite hard to warm to. I think that was more to do about the backlash of trained dancers being in that competition. I'm not a fan, particularly. I hope that "Dawn" knew all about this before reading in the paper, although you're never sure with this show! |

As much as I love the show, with Waitress I’m not going to trust any casting news until I see them actually standing there on the stage! 😄 This news looks like someone leaked the info to the Metro rather than the Metro officially reporting it. I mean, apparently Lucie is already in the show 😂 |

Sounds like the marketing dept might have been in the producers’ ears...’Please give us a name to work with’...I think she could do well in the role and will reserve judgement after seeing her in the role and not before.

She is very likeable, absolutely gorgeous and almost ‘too good’ for the role. She would work better as a rewritten Becky; slightly older, tart with a heart type, but that would rob the show of its only major POC. I think we’re pretty much resigned to having at least one non-singing celeb in the cast for sales. May aswell make it someone as personable as Roberts.

But who knows because Kat was totally vague on her insta story vid lol |
