I really love Ashley, she is very personable and likeable in my opinion and I would absolutely love to see her on stage in a musical! Waitress seems like an odd choice though, and Dawn seems even odder. Ashley is very glamorous for starters and isn’t Dawns character not supposed to be? She’d be a better fit as Jenna imo, looks and character wise, but not sure if she could sing the score. She’s deffo likeable though and it would get me back to see the show

jgblunners Lucie secretly going on as Jenna before her becoming Jenna has even been announced, and a month before she’s officially going to be Jenna is some weird-a** marketing to me, wth 🤣 .... unless she’s just getting some Jenna practice in early lol.

This has certainly tempted me. Very intrigued to see how I like Lucie in the role. Highly doubt I'll be able to make tomorrow though!
Seems about right, judging from the cast Instagram stories from yesterday they were all rehearsing.

Are they still going to wait until next week to announce Lucie Jones as Jenna even after she has literally been on a played the part?
The producers and management of this show are weird. Like, really weird.

This is lots of fun and drama for the fans but I feel sorry for the understudy. It does seem unfair doesn’t it. Is this perhaps something that the American producers have pushed for? I remember when Andy Karl was out of Pretty Woman for a week and they rehearsed Adam Pascal to take over rather than putting the understudy, people were saying that it’s not uncommon for this type of thing to happen in America when principles are out for several consecutive shows. |

If the rumours about Ashley joining Waitress are true then unless Laura has chosen to leave (which seems unlikely just a few months in) then it would be a really shoddy way to treat a leading member of the cast who has received great reviews and is a perfect fit for the role.
I would love to see Lucie as Jenna but I wouldn't give the producers another penny if Laura ends up being turfed out to make way for Ashley.

Saw this last night.
Tha banoffee pie was good.
The show wasn't. It's too slow. Found it boring tbh. Great cast though. Sarah was a fantastic Jenna, Marisha is amazing as expected, Laura is cute as a button, and David Hunter is very charming. As they usually say, they did great with what they were given... Would love to see them doing a different show.
Jack, well, can't sing at all, he's awful. Everyone was loving him apparently?
Not for me. Won't be seeing it again. I'm sad this was my last show of my trip. But oh well!

‘When He See’s Me’ has a quite technical switch between head & chest that was even a little underpowered when I saw Laura do it. What a less proficient vocalist would do to it is a bit of a worry/terrifying (delete depend on level of botheredness 😂). When I saw it, Laura went offkey on that switch (actually it happened more than once during that song, but that was one of the most jarring moments). It's a tricky song that starts out deceptively easy! |

Don't think I'll rush back as fast with Ashley Roberts in this sadly, Laura was amazing in this!
Was very tempted to purchase the rush tickets I had in my basket this morning but decided against it.

I just can’t imagine that they would boot Laura early for Ashley. I know business is business and all that, but I couldn’t imagine Sara Bareilles and the producing team would be down for something like that. I’m hoping either it’s not true and is just some unsubstantiated rumour that got leaked to the Metro, or if it is true, then there’s a more rational explanation, like Laura is doing another project for a few weeks / months and Ashley is filling in. As for Lucie going on this week, I also think that’s unfair to the Jenna understudies, because there’s really no reason for Lucie to go on until she officially starts. |

I suspect there is a lot goes on behind the scenes. We know that Lucie has been in rehearsal for a few weeks, perhaps building up to this time that they knew Kat was away. Why pay for u/s rate when you have a new leading lady rehearsed and ready to go on? It might not seem fair but it kills two birds etc.

It's nothing more than a rumour, and even if it is true, you have no idea how it has come about or what has been agreed between the actors involved. |
