As we get to the end of another week, a week full of dishonest politicians and Brexit woes, we can escape back to the real world created by Dame Jane McDonald at least for just one hour of homely, honest Yorkshire entertainment. Always remember, "if it's not from Yorkshire, it'shi*e". 1. ‘Tell Him” - sounded ace, looked like a pair of drag queens trying to outsing each other. 2. Russel Watson - so sad 3. Kind of afraid what’s up next Update- How many times can one man wink in the space of a song?

Not sure why Russell Watson sounded so different. Loved Tell Him. That's it for now for us Jane Fans on a Friday. Friday nights won't be the same.
I see Jane is doing an Arena show in Leeds in December.

Russell Watson sounded like he was on helium. He sounded like Paul Shane on that clip they show from Pebble Mill singing ‘You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling’.

Affairs of state prevented me from watching St Jane as live on Friday. However, I have put it right this morning and held Sunday devotions. I loved the duo with Claire Sweeney, very good and there is something about Summer Holiday which engages me and whilst I am not a fan, Ray Quinn seems to suit the part of Don. I am tempted to visit a performance! Now, don't get me wrong, because I realise Russell Watson has had his health issues and I am pleased he appears to be recovered, but why was he singing like Kermit? Then the treat that is "Let it go". Show me a gay man who doesn't know the lyrics top to bottom and I'll show you a fibber.

Isnt it amazing too what stage make up can do. Ray Quinn has heavily tattoed arms and yet all covered up when he sang. I could do with some of that for the bags under my eyes.

He’s had a really rough five or so years, is still performing and doesn’t seem to mind where. We appear to have recently welcomed him to our seaside town playhouse at about £50 a ticket!!!! I haven’t heard any reports so don’t know how it went down but can only imagine the noise the blue rinses would have been making.

Not sure it was make-up as such. I would guess he was wearing a very thin skin-coloured sleeve which was then blended in with make up to conceal the sleeve itself. Lighting would also help to disguise the fact he was wearing it.

I agree, I thought it was sleeves as well. When you looked closely his hands were a completely different colour!

A rather subdued evening with Ms Mcdonald tonight. The usual jokes, a good mix of songs but to me the first half felt really flat. It wasn’t until she opened the second half with ‘This Is Me’ and blew the roof off our little Playhouse that things got going. An Abba medley and some of her classic slowies led up the her having a crack at ‘Never Enough’ that wasn’t quite as successful. It was mostly great but rather than cheating those big notes she went into her thinner head voice. Loren Allred sings ‘Mehhh’ instead of ‘me’ for a reason, and it just showed that her voice does actually have limits. It didn’t help that she kept bursting into tears; proper ones, not insincere showbiz ones. I do hope our Jane off of Wakefield is ok?!?

Saw her Christmas show tonight. A great start to Christmas with some great Christmas songs. New Years Eve too. It certainly isn't a Jane free Christmas and a new series of Cruising down Under in early January too!!
Sending lots of love though to Jane this Christmas with the loss of her Mum Jean. She always spoke of her at concerts and I am sure she is devastated.

Years ago I was involved in one of Jane's tours, and she always talked during shows about her Mum and how we'd find her 'selling the CDs in the foyer'. For ages I thought it was a joke, until I finally had reason to GO to the foyer, and sure enough, there she was. Such a shame to hear what's happened - must be difficult to perform (especially during shows when she would have mentioned her Mum).

Jane has got a book out on her story called Unsinkable in the autumn. Aimed at the Christmas market I am sure.
Here is a clip advertising her upcoming tour. It was taken from her big Christmas show last December, which is also coming out on dvd at some point.
