We seem to be a little remiss in our appreciation of Jane spreading her gospel throughout the southern hemisphere. Tonight in Chile and Argentina and celebrating a picture of a bridge constructed with steel made in Wakefield. It is indeed a wonderful world. Disappointed she didn't give us a bit of Evita for the final song though Aahh she made up for it this week. Loved the full Evita hairdo. Though those suitcases in the hall were a H&S nightmare. One trip over those and it would have been goodnight and thank you! How hilarious was tipsy Jane trying to get a selfie at that monument.. "it's so hard trying to get five fingers in"

Her album Cruising with Jane Mcdonald went into the charts at number 6. Jane McDonald’s new album Cruising With… docks up as the biggest indie album of the week! Toppling Johnny Marr’s Call The Comet to enter straight in at Number 1 on the Official Independent Albums Chart, the Channel 5-released collection is made up of covers from the BAFTA-winning TV show, including The Winner Takes It All by ABBA, Wham!'s Club Tropicana and Tina Turner classic Proud Mary.
Other new entries eclipsed by Jane this week include Kamasi Washington's Heaven & Earth at Number 2, and Dannii Minogue's Neon Nights at Number 9, back in the charts following a vinyl reissue. Cruising With... also debuts at Number 6 on the main Official Albums Chart, delivering the much-loved cruise ship singer’s highest charting album on these shores in 18 years. Great to see her back in the top 10.

I'm surprised nobody on here has mentioned it yet but tonight (Friday 6 July) Channel 5 is devoted entirely to Jane McDonald.
My response to that is: She's a beaut sheila – good on yer, Jane!

As one of her greatest acolytes, I'm ashamed to say I did not know. Thank you for bringing it to our attention tonyloco. I shall take myself to confession tonight and complete a penance before settling in front of the tellybox for worship tonight. x

It's not quite the entire night tonyloco. The news is on first, and there's something/somebody else on after 11, so all tastes are catered for!!!

^ I hate to be pedantic, TallPaul , but for An Older Theatre-Goer, the hours between 8pm and 11.05 pm are the entire night. Before 8pm we are cooking us teas and doing the pots. Then we sit down to watch telly. We’ll drift in and out of consciousness all evening with a small glass of Amontillado, finding just enough time to watch whatever’s on. In some cases (although not mine after last week’s episode in dreary Buenos Aires) Jane. Come 11.05pm we are fair jiggered and can just about make it upstairs to our beds. I envy you young’uns who can stay up and party...

I too hate to be pedantic, @caiaphas, but piercing the film on an Aldi ready meal and bunging it in t'microwave hardly counts as cooking. And now you've got your Stannah, getting yourself up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire is less of a worry, so live a little!
Anyway, back to Dame Jane. I'm sure it was just bad editing, but I'm not sure the first commercial break warranted an OSO.
And what is happening to John Partridge? Every time I see him on TV, he looks younger, thinner and less able to frown. I've just looked, and he's older than me. As for those slacks!!!

There were so many edits TallPaul! The Chicago routine and Dame Jane introducing Gwen Dicky and a couple of the outro's to breaks were done on a night we were there. A couple of the audience shots were filed on different nights. Oh the magic of telly!!!
Whats an OSO?
And as for John Partridge, I was embarrassed for him. His manager really should say enough already!

Sorry, an OSO is an obligatory standing ovation.

Just caught up with last weeks Jane and Friends. Really enjoyed it but what has happened to John Partridge! Someone needs to give him a decent meal as he looks so thin! Looking forward to tomorrow night.

Well.....I'm not quite sure where Ria Jones got her acclaim from....she performed 'With One Look' on Jane and Friends tonight and, in my opinion, was absolutely awful! Out of time with the music at points, a very weird quality and sound to her voice, not a particularly pleasant one, and vibrato so wide that you could drive a bus through - I thought she was going to jump into a Miranda Sings impression. It was just all-round not great. Did she sound like that on tour?

However, I concur theatremadness. It was bad. No she wasn't like that in the S.B tour. The whole Jane thing wasn't doing it for me tonight I'm afraid. I might have to hand my gay card back. :-(

At last! People here are seeing sense.....she was truly terrible. Non existent acting skills and that voice! It is simply horrible and painful on the ears. The bootlegs of her in SB are no better. Shocking.

I thought she was awful on the tour too, There was clearly a reason she hasn't been cast during the initial runs. I'd have been massively disappointed if I had seen her instead of Glenn in london

Just watched it on fast forward (can’t handle the whole show, it’s all a bit too much for me) and I agree Ria sounded bad. All f those characteristics were there on the tour but not as magnified, apart from the being out of time with the orchestra which wasn’t an issue.
That “Jack Pack” group. Hideous.

Completely agree on Ria, I was mildly disappointed by her on the tour but couldn't stand her last night. She just doesn't have a pleasant voice to listen to!

I thought maybe my opinion was being clouded by drink, so it's reassuring (for me, not her) that others also found Ria Jones' performance truly awful.
And please excuse my French, but why has Billy Ocean got a huge c*#k on the back of his head?

Why do the top layer stand a lot but the bottom layer stay seated all the time. Do they pit those with mobility problems at the front?

...and why the standing ovation? Are these poor creatures so starved of "entertainment" or are they plied with alcohol or paid for the camera. That performance rates a slow hand clap.

Why do the top layer stand a lot but the bottom layer stay seated all the time. Do they pit those with mobility problems at the front? Most of the time, those sitting right at the front during TV recordings are told not to stand because the camera on a crane is behind them, and will swing over their heads at any given time at a relatively quick speed, so are in danger of getting injured if they stand at the wrong time - so are just told to stay seated the whole recording! And with the standing ovation (to the poster above), they'll most definitely have been told to by production staff/floor managers/warm up people/made to stand up like Jack Pack did, as it obviously looks the best on telly! And the audience might get themselves on camera. Tickets for recordings are free and you have a good time, so you just comply!

I thought the recent tour was surprisingly good but Ria was simply HORRIBLE. Her voice is shockingly irritating and like claws to a chalkboard. I’m so glad others agree - I thought it was just me!
