So by way of update...
* Singapore 29th September to 20th November 2016 (originally October but extended to November)
* Hong Kong 8th December to 1st Jan 2017
* Wicked Manilla opens 2 February 2017 to 5th March 2017
* Shanghai 11th April to 21st April 2017 (originally thought to be May but website updated)
* Istanbul 11th October to 5th November 2017
* Back to UK/Bristol - February 2018
Wonder why Shanghai has reduced to a couple of weeks? There must be another date due in China otherwise it's seems a lot of expense to get visas and truck everyone there for a short run....

They're going to Guangzhou in China as well from 18 to 27 June.

Saw the show in Hong Kong on Sunday.
Wicked is my favourite musical and I’ve seen it before in London during 2011-13. It’s hard not to compare. The scale was downsized and they had to make the usual adaptations (e.g. no trap door in NGD). But I have to say this tour production is pretty spectacular overall. I don’t think I have been to a show here in Hong Kong where people applauded harder.
Carly Anderson stole the show as Glinda. She is hilarious with just the right mix of innocence and vulnerability. I really love her interpretation. And Bradley Jaden, what a voice! It’s so refreshing to see a Fiyero with long hair too.

Natasha Ferguson is on as Elphaba this evening (13th December, 2016). Jodie has tweeted that she is feeling ill. Jodie was on as Elphaba for the Saturday matinee last week however (10th December, 2016)

Does anyone know the dates Jodie's been on so far? (Feel free to PM me!) I'm an understudy geek and like to keep track but is proving quite hard as Jodie isn't tweeting when she's going on!

Does anyone know if this tour has surtitles? no surtitles! Hmm. I have no problem whatsoever understanding it, but this might be a reason why it won't visit some countries. Although most people in my country normally do understand English.

I think the countries it's going to (though forgive me if I'm wrong!) do have a good level of English, which may explain the choice of cities and the lack of surtitles.
Of course it's not entirely impossible that should the tour visit a country where English is less well-known, surtitles could be used.

The level of English I've encountered in several bigger Chinese cities is extremely poor, irrespective of age. Also, I thought I got further in Istanbul with German rather than with English.

Maybe there are plans to use surtitles, I don't know. I just looked on Instagram at pictures people have uploaded from previous venues and saw no surtitles

Looks like Natasha is on as Elphaba today, according to Zoe George's Instagram!

Yes, Natasha is on as Elphaba for both shows today (8th January, 2017) and Jodie was on as Elphaba for the evening show yesterday. I believe Jackie was complaining about being really "phlegmy" earlier in the week, so I imagine that is why she is absent.

So it looks like a couple of the stops have been extended and the updated itinerary is:
* Tour opener in Bradford 20 July to 21 August 2016.
* Singapore is 29th September 2016 to 20th November 2016.
* Hong Kong 8th December 2016 to 22nd January 2017
* Manilla 2nd February 2017 to 12th March 2017
* Shanghai 11th April 2017 to 29th April 2017
* Beijing 21st May 2017 to 2nd June 2017
* Guangzhou 18th June 2017 to 27th June 2017
* Istanbul 11th October to 5th November 2017
* Bristol/UK - February 2018
Maybe they'll squeeze some additional dates into Shanghai, unless they are purposely planning a short mid-tour break for cast to come back home for a holiday!

The breaks between Guangzhou and Istanbul and Istanbul and Bristol seem unreasonably long. I do wonder if some more European dates will be annouced for July to October and November to February.

Oh man, I really hope they'll do some European stops. I really want to be able to see a great musical in my country for once.

Yes definitely feels like they'll move continent and have new locations before they go to Istanbul! Unless they re-cast and start fresh from Istanbul before the 2018 big run begins?!

Actually, I do hope for a cast change before the tour returns to Europe.

Oooooo..... so if a year would be July, so you think they'll cast change and follow suit from the 1st tour and offer Jackie the role in London when Willemijn leaves?!?!
Will post in the main thread and start a riot haha!

I really hope this doesn't happen. And if it were, I'd be taking yet another hiatus from seeing Wicked.

So they've already announced 9 venues for the Uk & Ireland tour for 2018, yet we're still waiting for more venues for the international tour...
