Brave move considering how well the last tour sold.

When I was at the Musicals.Con event, there was a stand selling the new CD's for Rachel Tucker, Kerry Ellis and a third person- a male (who's name for the life of me I cannot remember right now).
They were also selling, amongst other thing, 2024 Calendars with the same image on the CD cover.

She is doing more intimate venues just looking at the Midlands dates so maybe going to some of the secondary theatres and smaller venues will be a better fit for her.

The one nearest Manchester is so ‘intimate’ that it’s virtually in your nan’s front room. No disrespect to The Forum in Stockport (actually not Stockport but the residential suburb known as Romiley) but this isn’t even a second tier venue.
Romiley is a place the slow stopping train between Manc and Sheffield stops at. I looked at how to get there and back on public transport from Manchester City centre and it’s just a total pain in the arse so I guess this one is for the yokels locals and metropolitan showgays with cars only.
She could do great business on the “Evening At The Musicals” circuit but I suppose she wants to push her own albums. Good luck with that in Romiley, Kerry.

The Midlands venues are all easy to get to but certainly smaller than she played on the last tour. Kerry has done a fair number of "Evening at the Musicals" type shows in the past but not in recent years. I agree she'd be great at those and could perform the greatest musical numbers at bigger venues.
The show producers have put on a lot of tours for "heritage" pop acts and a number of spoken word tours and a lot have played these more "intimate" venues so they probably have things set at the right level. I expect it feels much better to play a smaller venue which is sold out or nearly full than a half full bigger town/concert hall. Plus the smaller venues are no doubt cheaper to hire.

I did have a quick look at how to get to The Forum in Stockport, but after seeing I would have to go from the get to the Airport train station, then into Manchester and then another train out, or up to 3 buses, I gave up.
I quite like Kerry performing, although do find she is somewhat overrated and she has built up a bit of an ego as a result.

I like how it’s called the Queen of the West End tour. Almost 10 years I’ve been going to the West End and I’ve only seen her once… in Liverpool.

I've met Kerry a few times and she has always been nice and friendly. I think doing those tours with Brian May might have made her think she is bigger than she is if anything has given the Queen fanbase has always been huge and would turn out to see Brian play. Plus she had the Wicked fangirls who would in varying numbers go to a lot of her shows. Those fans have probably aged out or have families now and other priorities so her actual current fanbase might not be what it was.

I’ve booked, probably wrongly, on the assumption that most of the material will be songs from the musicals - certainly, that’s the impression given by the title and description. I think it’s rather misleading if it’s just to push her new album (which isn’t musical theatre-based, is it?) Is this the same concert that she did at the Adelphi? I like Kerry, but I don’t think her voice is what it was and, like I’ve said in a previous post, she has largely been ‘replaced’ by women who have equally ‘big’ voices, but who are far more technically-gifted at acting through song. Anyway, for £30, it’ll still be a cheap-ish night out.

Must admit I never truly got the hype on Kerry. Saw her a good few times during the Wicked 'golden days' but always preferred the likes of Alexia Khadime and Rachel Tucker as Elphaba. She was good as Nancy in Oliver!, but much to my surprise I found that Jodie Prenger left a far greater impression.

She got some well deserved cred for her turn in Anything Goes but I can never forget how someone on here years ago described her as “Foghorn Kerry Ellis”.

She was fabulous in Anything Goes. But whenever I see her in anything now, I’m just waiting for her to nervously tuck her hair behind her ears

I was a big fan of hers back in the Wicked days. She was such a breath of fresh air. But when she did Nancy in the Drury Lane Oliver!, she turned me off her. It was by far the worst performance I've ever seen and the video clips are the exact same. She phoned it in like I'd never seen before. And she played the role like she was playing the title role in 'Annie'.

I will never forget years ago when she went on The Voice and didn't get any chair turns from the judges. This was pretty much at the height of her West End stardom too, a real reality check between musical theatre fame and mainstream fame!

She completely over did it and just screeched her way through the song.

She is to be found advertising mobile games ‘with no ads’ at the moment when I play my favourite waste of time block moving game. Bizarre.

Is there any further news on Kerry’s 2024 Queen of the West End tour?
Is it a brand new setlist and are there any supporting acts?
I really hope it goes ahead and that she gives more traditional performances of songs from shows in which she’s appeared. Ticket sales look really poor at most venues so far, but there’s still a long time, I guess. I just don’t see much online advertising for it.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Has anyone seen her tour yet? Is the concert mostly show tunes or is it mostly tracks from her new album? Would be interested in a setlist if anyone could supply one.

She's added another 30+ dates in autumn 2025 (on sale today), so presumably this year's sales haven't been too bad!

I saw this last week. It was ok. Ellis was in good voice, but there’s FAR too much talking and not enough singing. I think she only sings about 6 songs in each half. It felt like she was protecting her voice!
For what I paid, it was ok, but if I’d paid full price, I would have felt short-changed.

I thought that the judges felt she sounded polished enough already - nothing they could work with any further. I wonder if she got booked/paid as the 'amazing' singer that wasn't going to get through.
