They still say it's an audience of millions but it does feel like a lot of people are giving up on it now, it's feeling very "seen it all before". The fact they also only get 85000 votes speaks volumes (especially as you can vote 3 times online so individual voters will be a lot fewer than that). Where does that 85,000 figure come from. The BBC historically haven't released any voting info. Anyway it's still getting over 8m viewers and usually tops the week so it's absolutely safe even if many of us think it's declined. I think there might be some confusion. That figure matches the votes given in the Strictly Spoiler thread on here. But that is the poll done on the Strictly Spoiler website. So 85000 people are bothering to vote on a poll on a fan website which implies to me that the show is still popular.

It may still be ‘popular’, certainly with those of us approaching or in our middle/later years but it certainly isn’t either relevant or modern. There is the occasional nod to the now (the Barbie dance for instance, a year too late) but in terms of being a ‘hip cool show for the kids’…nah, not the one.

Couples Choice isn't working at all, it either needs to be a set choice of themes or everyone does it the same week - in the final?

It does feel like it's a showdance done early.
We loved it when BBC4 showed the old Come Dancings last year (?) and they recently had one on when celebrating Angela Rippon's birthday.
Strictly has diluted the ballroom and Latin so much now it's gone a bit generic dance-y. It isn't actually too bad for the contestants, but I really dislike the fact the pros never do a group waltz, or a quickstep or a jive any more. It's a show dance with a few bits of ballroom or Latin in there.
I don't really see the point of employing pros and playing up their competitive Latin and ballroom titles and then don't let them dance the styles properly.

When they first did couple's choice it had to be either musical theatre/jazz; street commercial; or contemporary.
Now it seems to be tribute to (possibly dead) family member; your inspiring personal struggles; audition for the West End once you've left Strictly.
Which are all fine as themes go, just not really as technique-based...

Whatever this man does in the future with regards to his 'career', NEVER let Pete Wicks cry on television again!

It did, I remember they had 3 choices. Now it's become either a Show dance or a shoes-off contemporary.

I did find the Remembrance routine to be quite lovely, understated and poignant.

I did find the Remembrance routine to be quite lovely, understated and poignant. It wasn't Jason Gilkinson. I'm not fond of his choreography and so I'm quite pleased he seems to have taken more of a back seat this series. I think there's been some great choreography this season - both the group and the couple's dances feel a little fresher. Is it just me or is there less lifts?

Vito and Sarah are promising a Fosse style quirky theatre number to Padam Padam with six backing dancers this week. So at least it's not barefoot wafty sob story nonsense.

Arlene Philips would have saved Shayne at the weekend.

The fact that you can vote 3 times is also what happens on the BBC website, hence the confusion. If the OP is just talking about a fan poll, then that's just an irrelevant point they were making.

T’would appear so. BBC artists normally get an easy ride but they’ve hobbled him all the way through with rubbish music & ugly costuming.

The music choices do point to a Jamie v Pete dance off Pete is currently ranking 4th on an unofficial pole and he does have a big fan base. I don’t think he will be in the bottom 2 at all. Weird about Jamie, I felt the judges have been pushing him since day 1.

I think they really need to consider song choices, I've really noticed how awful they've been this year. It makes such a difference.

Weird about Jamie, I felt the judges have been pushing him since day 1. In the Strictlyspoiler.com polling, Pete's support level has varied a lot. He did well last week because of the emotion. That will not necessarily be sustained. The music is the sort of track usually given to joke contestants.
