I saw it on Wednesday, after getting cheap tickets via TodayTix some time ago. Unfortunately, I didn’t really connect with this show. The staging is great, the energy on stage is fantastic, but the story and the songs just didn’t click for me, probably because I’m not too familiar with Meat Loaf and his music. But I can appreciate why this show might have a cult-following, or what-not. It’s because it’s fun. It’s not my kind of fun, but I would never diss it as “terrible”.

Anyone else at the singalong last night? I really thought it was the best one yet! Whoever came up with the idea is a genius as it feels like such a joyous way to celebrate this musical.

Bizarre situation with the lighting in Act 2 at Bat Out Of Hell last night. Basically after scene 1 it didn't change and none of the lights directly above the stage were working. Then with every scene change, lights would not change until 1-2 secs in, at which point a few lights with the same colour came on, usually from the wings or auditorium but rarely above the stage. There were no changes during scenes and many actors in dark. Every scene was either dim or flood lit by a couple of very bright lights.
I'm no expert in how lighting works, but I imagine, all the computed programming had gone down, and the lighting guys were selecting lights manually at the start of each scene. Is this a thing that can happen?
Anyway, what annoyed me is that nothing was said! At start of Act 2 I thought they might stop the show to sort it. But they didn't, it continued to the end. If there were problems, fair enough, but they should have announced it - we're Brits, we love battling on in adversity and am sure the audience would have been fine. But I think shows should be open and transparent - if we are seeing the show without it's designed lighting we should be told!
Now, it didn't bother me too much as I have seen Bat 20+ times. But if you'd spend £70 for a one off visit, I really don't think it's fair to not get the whole product. Now some people of course wouldn't have noticed, but they would be aware that second half just didn't look quite as good.
Has anyone else got experience of this?
Who would I contact at the theatre to find out what happened and what their policy is re letting audience know? (Just out of interest, I am not after compensation or anything - though if someone was, would they have a leg to stand on?)
All the addresses on websites are just for ticketing!

They have always been really accommodating there 🙂 With 5 weeks to go though there may not be enough time to change tickets. I’m glad it wasn’t someone else getting ill though as they seemed quite short last night in the ensemble as it was! |

I agree they've always been great! But if you were seeing the show for the first and only time would have been a real shame!
They did seem short yes, love seeing all the swings in action though.
First time seeing Joseph Peacock as Tink - what a gorgeous voice - thought his delivery of Not Allowed To Love was amazing.
Also first time seeing Jonathan Cordin (who I think is so good looking ;-)) as the featured dancer - that guy's got the moves!
Saw Jordan at the matinee and Barney in the evening - different but equally great Strats. (Though Simon Gordon remains my fave of the current bunch).
God am gonna miss this show!

God am gonna miss this show! Me too. It’s become my happy place. I have a really stressful job, but no matter how hard my day has been I walk out of Bat having been able to switch off from the world and with a huge smile on my face. |

I was also in last night, we figured it was the lighting when they announced the technical hitch at the interval for the same reason as you guys. The cast had no idea what was going on with the lighting either. I did hear one of the ice cream sellers at the interval tell someone who asked that maybe the theatre ghost was playing up!
They were ridiculously short on ensemble last night with various people ill/injured/on holiday and then Alex calling out as Tink after the matinee. Team swing at Bat always do an amazing job but major props to them for making that work last night - particularly to Kyle Roberts who was everywhere and everyone.

Someone needs to tell Christina to update her end of show speech this evening. She's obviously been reading it all last week raising money for World Aids Day, but unfortunately 'next week is World Aids Day' is now incorrect.

Following on from a lot of positive word of mouth, I managed to get £25 today tix tickets for yesterday's matinee.
While I agree with other people who've said the plot is weird, I went along with it and very much enjoying it.
The cast were pretty stunning and as for the staging, well that's worth the ticket price alone.
I'd love for it to tour but as I was watching it, with such a short run in london I did think the producers likely won't risk it. It would be a pretty expensive one to tour and especially with WWRY on the road again next year, they'd be competing for a similar audience
Tickets seem to have sold pretty well yesterday, in the stalls at least as I couldn't see the circle. It must be last min sales though as when I checked on Friday night, the stalls were around 70%, when on the night it as more 90%-95%.

When Christina had her last lot of time off Georgia did most and Eve had a scheduled performance |

Looking at Twitter, Sam (1st cover) hasn’t tweeted any lyrics today, and Eric (2nd cover) is on for Blake so he may very well be back 🙂 Of course I would have tickets for tomorrow where I assume he’s off as he has a gig booked, but that’s the way it goes sometimes! |

Sam (1st cover) tweeted about doing his last Ledoux show on 1st December. But I think he’s not been well, and at that point who knows now? It’s the final 4 weeks and I think quite a few people bought tickets for last Monday’s show thinking it would be his first one back. I’m booked in for tomorrow but I’ve had these tickets for a while now, as I’m going with someone who hasn’t been yet. |

It's always the Top 8, which leaves Gio just one spot away from being on the tour so he would never have been on the tour regardless of other projects or anything. |

Young Dream would like to see Gio, but knows they might not at this point (they’ve seen Eric and Sam twice each and day seats this close are looking unlikely with everything else going on at this busy time of the year.) Young’s favourite Strat is Simon! |
