Yeah it was a tad bit of a pain but not enough of a major distraction. Something to note of when seeing things there in the future.
Yeah so it's been almost a week and that show is still in my head. Truly amazing. Hope it sweeps at the Olivier awards (doubt it though).

I haven't seen season 4 or 5 yet, but know a bit about them, plot wise, So I wasn't going in completely blind, to see this tonight.
It's long. They could easily make it a 3 act play and have 2 intervals. The leg room is not great in the stalls for anyone above average height.
The effects were great and it was staged amazingly well. The problem I had with it was the clashing tones. The comedy felt too broad at times, compared to what happens in the darker scenes. It might work on screen, but on stage it just seemed OTT.
Great cast overall, but the guy playing Dr Brenner seemed a little amateurish. Maybe he was imitating the actor from the tv series, but not having seen that, he just looked weird.

I see this show has had a lot of praise, for someone who hasn't watched the TV show, do you think they would enjoy it? Or is this strictly for fans of the series? Thanks

Thanks You'd have to have some knowledge of the whole Stranger things universe I think. Like who is Henry Creel/Vecna, the upside down, Joyce, Bob and Hopper and the town Hawkins. I tried to give my daughter a primer but couldn't find much in terms of videos. This one might help a bit....or it might confuse you more

There's an offer on Todaytix where front row is £35 for some performances. I sat front row right at the side when I went and missed quite a bit, has anyone sat more central?

I sat dead centre of the front row through the TodayTix Shadow Seats Lottery system. I’m 6 foot and I could see most things well, at least well enough to understand what was going on, however my girlfriend who is 5”1 struggled to see a fair bit of the set but still not enough to miss anything too important. The experience was great though as there is a few moments of things flying into the audience which may or may not have found their way to my bedroom wall 😂

Thanks for letting us know - I assumed these seats were saved for the lottery! Having sat in the middle of the front row through the lottery tickets - this is a great price for the front row. The stage is a little high but definitely worth it.

Sorry I know it’s been asked and most likely answered , what are the Shadow Seats that today tix offer in the lottery please? Might be lucky to have a two show day in London after a cruise, before heading home to Australia. While I’ve only ever seen season one of Stranger Things this does interest me.

I have never won shadow seats but AFAIK they are front row seats that you win in the lottery. But you don't know which seats til you pick them up, which is not ideal.

Thank you for the answer about the shadow seats. I’m in London for a single Wednesday coming up and trying to work out what to see.

I saw this on Friday evening - wow, what a great experience! I've never seen the TV series so went in with no expectations, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are clearly lots of things for superfans but it stands up as a play in its own right. Some of the effects were off the scale. Highly recommended. It was so unpredictable that there were lots of toing and froing in the row in front (Stalls D) which I thought might be plants for a short while as people kept getting up and leaving for longish periods of time before returning. However, after one particularly vibrant scene involving flashing lights, one poor lady seemed to faint / go unconscious. She came around quickly and theatre staff helped her leave the auditorium. I do hope she is okay - it was quite alarming.

Saw this last week and was quite impressed too - 4/5 from me.
The staging, directing and special effects are amazing, the performances and pace of the story are pretty good too.
I have not seen the TV series and although this stands well as a stand alone show, I’d say that people who have seen it would be able to appreciate it more and make lots of connections between the two.

Am I right in thinking a 1pm matinee would finish at 4pm?

Am I right in thinking a 1pm matinee would finish at 4pm? When I saw the show a few weeks ago it was more like 4.10/4.15pm.

Dynamic pricing is truly in action here. Managed to pick up a central Row C ticket which TheatreMonkey has down for £155 usually for £65 for next weekend.
Niche question here - when does the Stranger Things logo appear on the stage curtain? Before the show or after?

Been keeping an eye on them for a few days as got a spare day in London and it’s one of the few shows with a Friday matinee. Currently trying to binge Stranger Things. Done 2 seasons since Monday. On track to finish season 3 by Friday. And that gives me a week for season 4 - and the mammoth 2.5hr final episode!

Out of interest, possibly with spoilers being used, what has changed from when this show was in previews to what is performed now? Quite a bit! I'll put it all behind spoilers just in case. {Spoiler - click to view}
- It's been cut overall but probably 45-50 minutes since the first preview. Some of this is simple pacing, some is tightening up scene transitions, etc. There were some needlessly long transitions.
- There was a scene (it was their first teaser production photo) where Henry was in Dimension X in front of a scrim with REALLY cool projections and he was controlling a demigorgon on stage. It was very cool. Not sure if it was cut for time or canon reasons. That entire costume of his (more casual, shorts) is no longer used anywhere.
- The dance sequence was a LOT more rough. Initially Patty is in an entirely different costume. There was tap dancing at one preview. It's been cleaned up quite a lot.
- Act 2 was very very long. The scene where Patty visits Henry in the void / while he is being operated/monitored was completely different. There was no giant mind flayer initially. It had some cool effects.
- I can't remember exactly, but I do think a lot of Act 2 has been shuffled / scenes placed in different order.
- The final scene / sequence was different. It was said that the transfusions were given to the mothers and Henry saw a pregnant woman. He then met 11 as an actual baby and carried the baby way. I'm told this is because the show was ending after 11pm and laws around children actors etc.
- I honestly can't remember when it was but there was another scene where Henry sheds a lot of his clothes as he goes sort of cray.
- The cop fight scene originally had coffee pots with actual liquid. After one preview they spilled it into the workings of the revolve and had a 10 minute show stop. No more actual liquid after that.
That's all I can remember for now, I'll add more if it comes to me.
