With The Duchess in October, Autumn is looking pretty good in terms of shows.
Just the Duke of York's, Old Vic's August-October show, the Gillian Lynne and possibly Drury Lane left to announce.

Also waiting for announcements for the Criterion after 31st August, and both the Apollo (will be surprised if Fawlty Towers doesn't extend) and @sohoplace (please finally be Till the Stars Come Down) after 28th September.

Duke of York (~650): "The Shining" Old Vic (~1300): ??, A Christmas Carol Theatre Royal Drury Lane (~2100): Elf, Hercules Gillian Lynne (~1120): "Lehman Trilogy", "Beetlejuice", "The Witches", "La Cage Aux Folles", My Neighbour Totoro Criterion (~590): "Babies post TOP?" "Titanique" Apollo (~660): ?? @sohoplace (~600): "Till the Stars Come Down" Donmar (~250): Great Comet
From my little rumour bingo-kind-of note I keep on my phone.
It's a lot of smaller theatres that I'm really interested in. It seems rumours lately have more surrounded the larger venues then what may go to the smaller places.

Can't imagine Beetlejuice, Witches or La Cage doing a limited run at the GL, it cost a lot to put musicals on. The Old Vic is 1000 seats not 1300.

I can't either, all the stuff I put in quotes are all the stuff that basically has little evidence, and just things I've seen people say. Also thanks, I always think the Old Vic is bigger than it is. The point mostly of me posting that was because we don't really have any rumoured shows for a lot of these smaller places. There's definitely some surprises in store in the coming weeks.

I really would just like a positive, comedic show to go into TRDL.

ALW has announced his new show has been written and "ready to go" I wonder if this would be "ready to go" into the TRDL in the New Year seeing as Hercules is not going ahead and he owns the theatre? I suspect it's not going to be something on the scale of Drury Lane!

We know next to nothing about ALW's new musical so it's really hard to say whether or not it's going anywhere or if its gonna be a concept album or whatever. We'll see in the next year likely.

Any rumours regarding the Duke of York's after R&J? Would be ideal for that revival of Lobby Hero that's meant to be coming in.

In any case ALW tends not to put his new shows into big theatres, except for the original Starlight Express.

...seeing as Hercules is not going ahead and he owns the theatre? The whole TRDL Hercules thing means that trying to predict the show that is going to go in there next is pretty fruitless... especially because Hercules was the most likely show that was going to go there! While ALW does own the theatre and he can theoretically put anything in there, he still has to make money so whatever show goes in there is gonna have to be one that reliably makes him money in a theatre with 2000 seats. If Cinderella taught him anything, it's that he's not shooting one of his new musicals into a big-ish venue anytime soon.

I suspect the DOY's next show will be in September with something else filling in August. If ALW's new musical is A United Kingdom then it'll probably need a midsized theatre like the Aldwych.

Tina's extended to June 2025 so a July 2025 opening if ALW's musical was to go there seems realistic. There's also the Adelphi around that time if BTTF doesn't extend as speculated.

Didn't he get warned off doing A United Kingdom because it's a black story...? Yep, he did get warned. If he has done it, I hope he's collaborated with someone who can tell that story, otherwise there's gonna be some trouble. But honestly it could be anything at this point; he's got writers all around him and multiple collaborations ongoing so details are still up in the air.

A United Kingdom to me isn't a black story, it's a story of triumph over prejudice.
