There will be closures after the Tony's there always is, they can get something pretty easily then no doubt. The problem is the size of the production itself.

Seem's very abrupt. I feel there may be more to this than meets the eye....

I've seen a lot of people suggesting she may have been fired and Equity was involved. It was very abrupt, and her announcement on her Instagram story was very blunt and didn't have a very nice tone to it. It clearly wasn't planned: there were no speeches and none of the cast have sent her well wishes or anything on social.
Who knows? Something definitely happened though - this was way too abrupt.

The Shubert Organization offered Beetlejuice the Barrymore Theater if the production decides to move. I highly doubt they will move because the production will have to be scaled down quite a lot to fit in the Barrymore.
Plus, with an almost 500 seat difference between the theaters the production would probably have to cut down on some actors and backstage workers. I think the AEA and the backstage unions makes it almost impossible to cut down on workers once a show opens on Broadway.

So for those who didn't know;
1) A production is due to open in Seoul, South Korea in June 2021...exciting!
2) Eddie Perfect has released an album called The Demos, The Demos, The Demos containing guess what?...The demos! of him playing the original versions of the songs and cut songs with a brief commentary.

Finally saw today at the matinee having had a ticket in 2020 cancelled the day of due to the shutdown. Really enjoyed it, lots of fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I enjoyed the music for the most part. Will see again in November if it’s still running.

Seems like the cast found out via BroadwayWorld and not from the producers.

Seems like the cast found out via BroadwayWorld and not from the producers. Not quite. Seems the crew found out from Broadwayworld but the cast were informed.

It sucks to hear for the cast, and also the fans as it’s a fun show.
I understand why the producers revived the show, because of the huge online fanbase - but I think they underestimated how many of those fans are minors or live outside of New York/America.
The national tour will get good business for American fans unable to get to New York - and the potential West End transfer will cover UK fans. They’d also be mad to not copy SpongeBob and release a pro-shot of the original cast to generate buzz.

Sad news but not hugely unsurprising in this climate. We saw the original production on Christmas Eve 2019 during our holiday to NYC and greatly enjoyed it, but I do think the cast (particularly Alex Brightman) and staging did a huge amount of heavy lifting as a lot of the material doesn't really hold up on its own.
I'd be very interested in this west end transfer that was heavily rumoured last year, I'd love to see who they'd cast as the lead. Maybe someone like Nathan Amzi or Simon Lipkin?

Saw this a couple of days ago. Packed house, audience going nuts...I'm not really sure why it's closing! Alex is fantastic as ever, he must be absolutely exhausted after a two show day because his energy onstage is huge.
Wasn't massively impressed with their current Lydia. Gorgeous voice, but her diction was dreadful, if I hadn't known the show fairly well I might not have understood some of what she was saying. Also spotted Ryan Breslin, formerly of Newsies, in the ensemble, and oddly at bows he wasn't there then popped on at the last minute, not sure what was going on there.
