Cool Rider concert tonight and Dame Joan Collins with Jiliet Mills sat 4 seats away in my row. Juliet is married to Maxwell Cauldield who was in the show. Joanie looked bemused throughout.

This whole Roy/Murder thing will have people switching off in droves. It is cruel rather than thrilling and a total betrayal of these characters, and worse still, a shabby desecration of Hayleys memory. Let me know when it’s over please. (And the fact that ‘the only policewoman in Weatherfield’ is such a recurring character shows how badly they rely on crime to drive the show now.) I agree with this and I'm a life long fan of Corrie but it's lost its way completely. Also wasn't Craig training to be a detective? He just seems to be a Bobby on the beat these days.

Similar thing happened to me in 1977. Liza Minnelli concert at the London Palladium. Woman sat directly in front of me draped her fur coat over the back of her her seat and half of it was on my lap. I did the "blow" test and it was real. Tapped her on the shoulder to ask her to move it, she turned around and it was Ingrid Bergman. She was very nice and removed it. I've been telling that story for years now and the usual response from the younger generation is "who's Ingrid Bergman?".

Am I showing my age or my lack of MT knowledge? The first thing that I thought when I read Lyn Paul was The New Seekers. Me too and I remember seeing the New Seekers supporting Shirley Bassey at the RAH a very, very long time ago. I think she is also famous for being in Blood Brothers several times

Still no sign of the film, but it is being released as an album on 31st May. Streaming world wide but sounds like the 2CD set is only being released in America. Great news just need the DVD now. The clips I've seen show that's it was superbly filmed.

On the website it states there is no re-admittance if you leave your seat. It has 2 hours as the run time. Anybody know if there is an interval? There is a strict no re-admittance policy at the Menier for all shows. This is due to the way the theatre is set up. I would say there will be an interval but if you leave during act 1 you won't be allowed back until the interval.

I've only seen 2 musicals this year, the rest have been concert versions of musicals. Best musical so far is Two Strangers and best concert Side Show.

Bet it was more interesting than what was happening onstage. It was actually quite threatening and upsetting. I don't recall much of what happened onstage in act two because I found it hard to concentrate given the circumstances. I thought the show lacked cohesion but it didn't lack imagination. It was a wide miss but an interesting attempt at something different. I'm sure it was and a horrible thing to go through. My poor attempt at humour. Sorry.

Truro? It will just confuse Cornish people. Ha ha I'm sure they will be fine. Everybody's Talking about Jamie did well in Truro a few years ago I know. I was just joking a bit as I'm a Cornish man myself.

I had no issues with sound at Side Show apart from a couple of tiny missed mic cues at the beginning. I've seen that happen even in long running west end shows and as this was a concert I didn't go to see pretty costumes. I went to see and hear a great cast performing a great score which is exactly what I got. Maybe I'm just easily pleased!

Guest names announced.
Joining Robyns will be Cassidy Janson (& Juliet), Giles Terera (Clyde’s), Simon Lipkin (Derren Brown’s Unbelievable) and Lily Kerhoas, who is currently starring as Christine Daaé alongside Robyns in The Phantom of The Opera. There will also be an appearance by the South London Youth Theatre of which Robyns is a patron.
Simon Lipkin means a song or two from Avenue Q surely. Very much looking forward to this concert.

Is anyone watching Ripley on Netflix? It has Andrew Scott and Johnny Flynn and mixed reviews: some critics love it, but it's not working for me. It's a shame, as I was looking forward to it, but Scott and Flynn feel miscast - both too old for the set up to be plausible, and devoid of anything in their characterisation to engage me. I watched the first episode last night. It was very "arty" with lots of clever shots but all that happened really was Andrew Scott walking up and down stairs. I am also not a great fan of black and white probably because that's all I had on TV until I was a teenager.

There is a big concert tonight at Brighton including the Brighton Gay Men's Choir. They were on BBC breakfast yesterday singing and talking about the concert. . I was there. Slightly underwhelming. We decided that ABBA songs don’t go with male voices. Nice to hear the various Eurovision guests though. Some very good voices. I think you are right judging from the snippet I heard in TV. But you had the lovely Mans Zelmerlow which makes up for it.

Either I have blocked the whole thing from my memory or that curtain call is very different from the one I saw at 2nd preview.

Doubt they will be there but I'm sure they will do something special at the Arena to celebrate. There is a big concert tonight at Brighton including the Brighton Gay Men's Choir. They were on BBC breakfast yesterday singing and talking about the concert.
I remember the night they won vividly sitting at home as a 15 year old watching it on TV with my parents and sister. Did you now the the UK gave them "nul points ".

Well no surprise but I absolutely loved this as did my friend. As we were leaving she said "when can we see it again". It is really funny and so well written. A second viewing is definately necessary to hear some of the lines that I missed the first time. Loved the songs as well and it all nips along at speed so I was never bored. Both Dujonna and Sam were excellent and there was a great chemistry between them. Sam, however, was absolutely adorable. For such a young man he is a great actor and he seems to choose his roles carefully. The set is simple but very clever the way suitcases turn into other things and the double revolve works really well. There is a number in the 2nd act which I believe is called "The Argument" which I loved as it isn't really a song as they are arguing with each other but to a beat. (I am sure there is a technical name for it), it was like a rap really but must be really hard to do to get the timing of the words on the beat. It got an instant full standing ovation at the end which really was deserved.
A very mixed audience but it definately attracted the younger audience member, possible Sam Tutty fans.
I bought a programme and fridge magnet before the show and was given a set of Criterion postcards as well which was a lovely gesture and they are really nice. i sat in the stalls on the left hand end seat in row H and the view was excellent as pretty much all of the action takes place centre stage so didn't miss anything.
Really hope it does well in the west end as it certainly deserves to have a good run and its nice to see a happy musical where you come out smiling.

The articles are certainly having an impact. This week alone 2 friends who I would say are casual thestre goers contacted me to ask if I had seen the show and if it was as bad as the articles. They both asked me if Sheridan was bad and I had to point out that she was excellent. So I'm not sure everyone reads between the lines and just home in on the headlines so they think it's a bad show and Sheridan is bad as well.

I wonder if closing the restaurant hasn't helped. People loved the pre theatre package and they always sold out first.

I was at a BAFTA screening of a TV show, which some of the actors also attended. Afterwards in the ladies room Suranne Jones was chatting with someone, as she saw me approach says something like ' oh no autographs, I'm talking to a friend'. I had to deflate her slightly by telling her I just wanted to wash my hands and she was blocking the sinks! I like that one, would have loved to have seen the look on her face.

It only finished its run 6 months ago. Yes but this is a "proper" version with an orchestra and not 2 men, a guitar and someone banging a cooking pot! And singing the songs as they were written.
