Sondheim really needs a small theatre for it to work. So much can get lost in a big space. But heck I'll still be there, I want an early preview and then a few months into the run Agree! I remember loving this at the southwark playhouse, then a few moths after I was very impressed with the Sheffield production, set in the 70's like the original and with a second to none cast, but in a bigger space, and it's not like the Crucible is massive, it didn't feel quite the same

Well, so many feelings in just seconds... first I thought WT...? is not April the first, right? Then when realized it was not a joke got really excited, then I kept reading to find out that is the female Bobby version and felt disappointed as I really don't know what to think about it, then got excited again as it's still a production of Company and finally felt relieved that Imelda is not playing Joanne..

I was there too last night. So glad we got such a clear night, just a bit chilly but I come prepare. I hadn't seen a production of JCS since the revival at the lyceum and felt a bit emotional during the overture, there is definitely something about this show, probably one the the first musicals that I ever got to know well. Very impressed in general, the orchestra sounded amazing, Both Judas and Jesus were great, maybe Judas stranded out vocally, but they were both giving 100%. Amazing choreography, although I didn't appreciated it in some scenes like during 'This Jesus must die', I thought it was a bit funny at the beginning but I think in this particular scene stops actors from actually acting the role. And the same happened with the concert element of this production, Mary Magdalene playing guitar during "I don't know how to love him" really ruined for me, same with the beginning of Gethsemane. But very good in general, great atmosphere also, first visit from me to the Open Air theatre and loved it.

If anyone has been waiting to see if any offers appear at the end of the run like I have, just had an email from Official London Theatre - £10 off band A, B & C tickets for all performances except Fri & Sat if you put in the code 'OLT' when booking through the Open Air Theatre website. Forecast looks dry from Tuesday onwards this week! Thanks for the heads up! Booked for next Tuesday. Let's hope the best of British weather

"Not other Royal Family in History has killed more members of their own family than the British Royal Family, including Diana" How many members of her own family was it Diana killed? I forget. "Not other Royal Family in History has killed more members of their own family than the British Royal Family, the last one being Diana" Edited for better understanding

I just remember feeling so sorry for Prince William and Prince Harry.... It was heartbreaking
"Not other Royal Family in History has killed more members of their own family than the British Royal Family, including Diana" this is what an historian I once had the pleasure to have a brief conversation with, told me.

I'm actually really looking forward to seeing Janie Dee in this, I thing she's a prefect casting choice, Staunton on the other hand I'm not sure at all, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong

Yes It was very controversial back on the day because of how it portrays the relationship between Maria Magdalena and Jesus

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it but I was surprised to hear he's getting it so soon in his career

Another big thumbs up for this. Excellent cast, and specially for me great to see Krysten Cummings on stage again. I saw her many times as Mimi at The Shaftesbury and I always thought there was something very special about this girl as a performer. Sir Trevor Nunn in the audience tonight, he seemed to love it.

Great if it's true! listened to the recording a couple of times and liked it, still I'd rather see Next to normal in the West End first but at this point I guess it's not gonna happen..

I'm a bit late to this post... I started watching Rupaul's Drag race for the first time this season mainly for Charlie Hides. I know she didn't particularly shine but I've been following her on Facebook for years, her impersonations of Cher, Madonna are hilarious... and for the record she got injured with a broken rib attempting the cheerleading pyramid, hence she couldn't dance properly when lip syncing for her life, besides she always sings live in her performances.. My favorite of the remaining queens is Sasha Velour

Not wanting to be cynical, but maybe they thought a little swear would get some social media/possible press attention for the show. Obviously may not be good for families, but could engage more people with a realisation of Miranda in Annie/what will she do next time. Exactly what I thought the moment I read it,... but as you say it's probably a bit risky, considering the nature of the show

^ I was just thinking exactly the same
Also what about Jessica Lange for Morrible..? Surely you do need to cast Meryl in every musical....

I wonder if I'm the only one not feeling excited about Imelda playing Sally,... On the other hand I cannot wait to see Janie Dee, her 'Could I Leave you' in Putting it together was brilliant

Poor Patti! So talented and yet Madonna got to play Evita in the movie version, Glenn did Norma on Broadway, no wonder she's bitter with the Hollywood establishment... The woman actually loves dishing on other performers, she said Neil Patrick Harris wasn't quite ready when rehearsals for the NY philharmonic concert of Company started and blamed Sherie Rene Scott for "Women on the verge.." flopping on Broadway

I remember reading somewhere that broadway actors are protected by their unions so they can stay with a show as long as they want to,.. I saw the lady mentioned on that article in Chicago on Broadway last August and she was great. Also Amra-Faye Wright was on as Velma. She did the uk tour in 2002 and I'm sure I saw her in the West End at some point so she's been playing Velma in different productions, including Japan, on and off for about 15 years!!
