This is not My Fair Lady but compare to Legally Blond, Heathers and the like it has Tina Fey's witty dry sense of humor. Not just for screaming teenagers

I work shifts and can work any day of the year. I only know a month in advance when I gonna be off and I hate not been able to book well in advanced for anything. On special occasions like this one I have to book a day of annual leave. The rest of my theatre-going is thanks to the wonders of day seats and all the great information I find on this board and theatremonkey.com

I tried a few times and got offer a better ticket every time, better one top price row J stalls on the side! Sorry not good enough! I Didn't realize you can select the price range either!... seems like it's pretty easy or maybe they haven't "verified" that many fans.... anyway, I still 'don't know what to do"

I also find this very interesting! I often check the box office figures for broadway, It would be interesting to know what the West End shows make and how full the treaters are. Also I wonder how much The Menier, Southwark Playhouse spend on the productions...

Gaga does an incredible job here, she is actually a very good actress however it's true that her character lacks an Oscar winning moment apart for maybe the last song. She will however be nominated specially when the Academy are so desperate to increase viewers ratings of the broadcast

Saw Part 2 friday night after seeing part 1 last Monday.
Went to the theatre in two minds really. I couldn't wait to to see those characters on stage again but on the other hand I was fearing that I was going to be somehow disappointed as Part 1 was so good I thought It just could not get better. It didn't help spotting a slip of paper in my program, which I decided to buy although I never buy them anymore, announcing that Vanessa Redgrave was indisposed.
However all my fears faded as I found myself feeling greatly moved during the very first scene and I knew I was in for another evening of very special theatre. The most brilliant moment of both parts is still the end of part one but I found part two to be more emotional in more parts, in other words I cried more often..
Bit disappointed to have missed Vanessa Redgrave. The part with the female character didn't seem to me like the most interesting part, felt a bit distracting but it could have been because I'm not sure how many times the actress stepping in had been on but she seemed a bit uncomfortable in the role and also at that point someone seated close to me started snoring and was very distracted by it, I couldn't really engage..
ttellapttam, I think seeing each part in different days is a better idea, as I find that both on the same day could be a bit too much. Unless that's it you don't feel moved by the piece at all. emicardiff maybe is a good idea to see part 2 on a separate day if you decide to give this a second chance

frontrowcentre re: your spoiler, it's something I wrote about...somewhere and i can't remember where now. What The Inheritance does that was most clever for me, was to take bits of previous dramas on AIDS/gay lives and pepper throughout. So for those who know, they know. So in answer to your question, yes and there's many others in there too. It's a play that still frustrates me in many ways (I'm on the fence as to seeing it again) but that i loved. Funny that, I started reading through this thread only just days before I decided to see the play. I read through most pages but I must have missed your post because I remember how must you loved "Angels in America" and If I'm not mistaken I remember you writing quite bit about it and I was curious about your view on The Inheritance. I just assumed that you hadn't seen it yet. I must go through the pages again

Tried the Todaytix rush yesterday for part 1 and got row B 17. Long queue to collect tickets, I wondered if it was gonna start on time however it did and we were out of the theatre by 22:40 What an absolutely delight, just beautiful,.. So well written and so well acted by the whole cast, Kylle Soller carries the play for me, so likable, so charming... also Samuel H Levine and Andrew Burnap. So many memorable moments. When Leo kisses Toby at the end of their scene and Toby tries to kiss him again, so moving The sauna scene, so intense. The funny Grindr reference. Eric assuming that Henry is also a democrat, so ironic.. and then the end {Spoiler - click to view} which does remind me of the last scene in the movie "longtime companion" only more beautiful. (I actually wonder if that was the inspiration for the writer) The conclusion of that scene for me is something that I have so many times wondered, How different things would be if AIDS have never existed or if a least hadn't taken away so many lifes
Can't wait for part 2 probably on Friday

Show is still doing astonishingly well! Mostly thanks to the tourist trade no doubt. Still doing amazing business on Broadway also. After 21 years it makes more money weekly than Aladdin (7 years) or even Frozen.

Thrilled to see Josephine Barstow and Alison Langer are coming back - 'One More Kiss' was one of the great highlights for me.
Couldn't agree more. It was just beautiful. A breathtaking moment.

Airline pilot makes a lot more sense in this iteration than flight attendant. I mean, in what corner of the western world are there any STRAIGHT male flight attendants LOL? I'm cabin crew and I'm gay (not sure which point I'm trying to prove here) but there are quite a lot of straight male cabin crew - in my previous airline there were definitely more straight male crew than gay male crew. I'm in the industry as well and I agree. A lot of cabin crew are gay but there is a lot of straight guys working as crew also. On the other hand most pilots are straight but there is more and more openly gay pilots out there these days Regarding Andy being a pilot or a Flight Attendant, the stereotype is that cabin crew are dumb and pilots are smart, the reality is that some crew have lots of different backgrounds and some of them have/had other careers from teachers to police men/women and even lawyers. Pilots can be very articulate, sound very smart and give the impression of confidence but in a lot of cases they can only talk about one subject, planes, and that's it. They deserve credit for having the skills necessary to fly a plane safely and take important decisions very quickly which it's not something anyone can do, but when it comes to their social skills sometimes they can be very poor. Some of the most plain people I've met are pilots. It'll be interesting to see what they've done with the dialogue that Andy and Bobbie have about him wanting to move to Radio City Music Hall and sharing an apartment and and all that. I love that part. As in Follies I actually really enjoy the spoken parts in Company. Obviously the songs and the music are the most important bit but the dialogue brings something very important as a whole.

I got great seats in stalls row L - didn’t seem to be many front row ones. Everyone in the line seemed to be trying (and failing) the todaytix rush too Thanks!! Enjoy the show

That doesn't necessarily mean they'll all go - that happened to me for 42nd Street once and I refreshed a couple of mins later and got two tickets. Yes, it's been taking up to an hour an half until all the tickets are completely gone, you just need to be lucky and click just when someone decides not to buy them and before they go onto someone else's basket. Has anyone try rush tickets at the theatre? how busy is it?

Best of luck to the whole cast and crew and the audience going to this tonight. Weather outside is rubbish! I was there last night. It started raining during the interval and then it just stopped when the second act started. However half way through the second part it starting raining again and they had to halt the show for a few minutes to wipe the stage. Luckily after that we didn't get any more rain. Very happy I decided to book in the last minute to see it before it closes. Saw the Menier chocolate production twice and loved it so much that I wasn't sure if I was gonna like it. I Had an amazing night. I always thought the the weakest part of LSOH is the end and they really managed to somehow fix that here. I'm not a big fan of standing and clapping during songs at the end of the shows but somehow it works perfectly this time. Jemima Rooper didn't go on for Audrey. No idea who the understudy was but she did an amazing job!!

Ruthie H cracks me up in this. She’s soooo leggy and showbiz. Is that her normal voice? Fresh from playing Roxie in London and Velma on Broadway, probably at the peak of her career

Unbilevable! what a pity...
The trailer looks really good, lots of elements from the original but not a carbon copy, very interesting.

I hope they film it and release a DVD like they did with Phantom. That was a special anniversary performance though. You guys think there is any hope of this happening? It didn't happened when they semi-staged Follies, so no sure about this one either....

I was just starting to like Mis Cracker. How Kameron has survived 3 lipsyncs is a mystery. She’ll be out next week surely. I can see what you mean and I sort of agree with you but by following Kameron on instagram I think there's much more to her of what we have seen so far and yes, definitely next week will be her last chance to really deliver.... By the way, how does it work from now on...? last season there were 4 queens until the finale...

This is obviously manipulated and Aquaria and Miss Cracker are too similar to remain in the last four together. I'm just glad Kameron stayed because she's one of my favorites alongside Eureka

Saw this Broadway tryout last night at the Curran in San Francisco. The show features the music of American group The Go-go's. I hadn't heard anything about this show and although Im a proud Kid of the 80's neither I'm familiar at all with The Go-Go's, maybe the were not that big our side of the Atlantic...? I just thought that a pre broadway engagement was a good choice and they had rush tickets available in todayTix. The plot is an adaptation of Arcadia by English poet Phillip Sidney, again not familiar with the story at all, and it turned out to be a very enjoyable evening. I was fighting a horrible jet lag and not been familiar with the score and missing more than one line I still managed to engaged with the story as it feels incredible current, fresh and liberal, mixing political affairs, cross dressing, sexual fluidity and awakening. The cast is great, all of them, there isn't really a principal character they all get the chance to shine and carry the story. Even Peppermint, yes from Rupaul's Drag Race season 9, who obviously has no previous broadway experience, managed to do her bit very well and blended perfectly with the rest of the experienced cast. It's funny how I'm not a big fan of jukebox musicals but it sort of bothered me that I wasn't familiar with the songs and the rest of the audience did however... {Spoiler - click to view} Later I found out that someone I know of, Belinda Carlisle, was part of The Go-go's and for at least one number I know one song by heart as we all know that Heaven is a place on Earth
Not sure what the New York critics and audiences will do with this but I'm glad I got to see it. Also the Curran looks amazing, I cannot really remember what it looked like last time I was here 12 years ago to see A Chorus Line but the total renovation it took two years ago is undeniable obvious.
