Spanish here. Moved to London 20 years ago. Now I lived near Gatwick. Day trips to London every other week, sometimes more often. Chichester is only a 40 minute drive from where I live. Work takes me to New York sometimes

I think that's probably the last Chicago cast I saw in the West End, though Velma was played by Terra C MacLeod who also nailed it opposite Ruthie's perfect Roxie

Again...? I have to give to Mackintosh. The man has milked this production like there's no tomorrow. It's colorful and has interesting bits, but I still prefer the Palace/Queens theatre version with all its '80s glory. Couldn't agree more! I like the factory scene, Javert's suicide and some other bits. The Paris scene is awful compared to the original I can't get over the fact that is not revolve... As far as I'm concern Les Mis is only playing in London at the moment.

I'd also love to see Kiss of The Spiderwoman,.. Surely Man of La Mancha must be in the cards at the National or Chichester at some point...
A big production of Into The Woods... and I know it hasn't been long but please bring back In The Heights

You can add me to the list of people that didn't get the memo re Ruthie's voice being 'shot.' So a good cast in the end. Almost tempted to go back and see this - though would wait for night before/dynamic price drop I think. Personally not heard of the actress playing Roxie. I assume she is MT trained though!? I've not heard of her either. Maybe other board members can enlighten us. Not a 100% sure but I think I remember her being in the ensemble at the Adelphi, tiny girl with quite a lot of stage presence, very pretty... If she was in the ensemble then she has to be MT trained surely.

Great news! I'm in! Funny after seeing it on Broadway two summers ago I thought I was done with this revival and that I would never see this production again.... never say never, I guess

I always hoped that she would play Velma in the West End one day something that never happened. I travelled to Leicester to see her in Gypsy and she was just great, then saw her in 'The life of the Party" at the Menier. Roxanne is definitely my favorite bit in Moulin Rouge. There's a video on the internet with different bits of musicals she's been in, mostly Australian productions, the woman is amazing in my opinion. Only by seeing a few seconds of every show you can tell she owns those parts, Anita, Aldonza,... her Mrs. Lovett in Paris... "Broadway Bay" at Sondheim's 80th Birthday at the Royal Albert Hall...A truly triple threat in musical theatre. Can't wait to see her again

I've seen footage of Caroline O'Connor as Phyllis and she sounded and looked wonderful, as in everything she does, but I don't know why I think of her more of a Sally... Joanna Riding definitely more of a Phyllis... also Josefina Gabrielle as Phyllis would be amazing

I love me some Beverley Knight but they cannot approach her to do this. She has given us no indication that she can dance (does the 6 minute beginning of Cats count?), and though they can always modify Roxy's dance bits as they have done for a dozen actresses, I don't think she's funny enough to pull it off. There is no dancing around Velma's choreography (get it?). Whoever plays Velma needs to be a very serious dancer to pull it off. Though Bev's All That Jazz could blow the roof off and she'd look hot in these costumes. You're right. And I don't think they ever stunt cast Velma in all the years it run in the West End

My most seen musical is definitely RENT at the Shaftesbury, 30 times including opening night and closing night. Les Mis follows but I can not be certain of how many times exactly, maybe 15, well 15 and a half because I saw just the second act one at the Palace...(I know! really naughty!!) then is Chicago around 10 times, Miss Saigon at the Drury Lane around 5 and Billy Elliot 4 or 5 times also... Wicked twice in London, twice on Broadway
I don't tend to see anything more than once these days, theres's so much to see!!! Exceptions are Merrily we roll Along, 3 times, and In The Heights 4 times

I was there last night also and I agree with you that some parts felt a bit slow. It did, however, picked up from "Mirror, mirror" and ended up being a very enjoyable evening for me.
I was most looking forward to Janie Dee and she didn't disappoint, very impressed with her dancing skills also, had never seeing her dancing before. Peter Forbers as Buddy does an incredible work as Buddy. When It comes to Sondheim there are certain songs, like "The right Girl" that I think must be a bit of a challenge for actors to play so the audience actually can enjoy what they seeing a listening to, the way in which Peter Forbes manages to accomplish this was outstanding.
I was never happy with Imelda being cast as Sally, but I enjoyed her performance more than what I thought I was going to, at the end of the day she is a terrific actress and although I could think of more suitable ladies for that role it was nice to see someone acted the hell out of a role although I agree that someone should tell her that she's not playing Mama Rose anymore.
It was nice also to finally see Zizi Strallen in an important part more along the lines of the roles her sisters tend to get.
I'm not sure weather it has being mentioned before here but "One More Kiss" was done so simple but so beautifully at the same time, It got one the biggest round of applause of the night. Oh! And THANKS to the respectful audience members who in unison waited fort the actresses to finish the song before starting clapping, YES!!
Tracey Bennet she knows how to make the most of "I'm still here" and it also a pleasure to watch every time she's on stage.
The orchestra sounds terrific one of the highlights of the night.
Overal I'm very happy to have paid full price to see this production, tickets still available at my local cinema to see the screening tomorrow, it may be a bit early to see again, or maybe not... tempted.

It may be Joe’s story but Norma could possibly be one of the most deliciously over the top camp roles of all time. Thus it’s usually played by a diva which is another reason why we flock to it. Joe is a nice role but he’s vanilla...Norma is mint choc chip! When I saw Sunset in Guilford exactly two years ago I overheard Alex Parker telling some friends after the show " It's so camp, isn't it?". Every time someone mentions the camp element of this show or its characters I remember that!

I also got to see this yesterday for the first time. Good value for money rush tickets on the todayTix app, although I wouldn't have minded to pay a little bit more to be seated closer to the stage. I thought the production was excellent, you can tell that is a Broadway import. The set, the projections... all really good. I struggled to recognized faces from the back of the stalls but I do believe the leading lady was the original, there's not words to describe how perfect she was, I'm not an expert in ballet/dancing but I don't think I have ever seen anything like it. I did recognized Haydn Oakley, who I had seen in Side show and Women on the verge... He was excellent. The guy playing Adam. again Im not sure weather he was an understudy or the guy in the program, but OMG THAT VOICE!!! He just sounded heavenly! Agree with different things that have been said in the last couple of post, I had forgotten how big the theatre is, last time I was there was seeing the original cast of WWRY!!, and I was also impressed of how full it was at least in the stalls. The leading man, very charming and what a 🍑!!! Also it's different but comparable to 42nd street. I know I'll be in the minority in this board but I enjoyed this one better. The plot though, not sure about it or how is told, towards the end I couldn't care less who was going to win the love of the leading lady. Still this was a feast for the eyes and I'm very glad I got to see it before it closes.

I got my discounted tickets for KA and Mystery on the day of the performance at the half price tickets booth outside the Paris hotel and for O at the show's box office, I don't think it was discounted, I'm not sure

I've seen KÀ, Mystere and O in this order on different trips. Never seen a Cirque du soleil anywhere else. I was very impressed by KÀ, but I just saw it a couple of weeks before the fatal accident and I believe that they cut the last scene after that. That final scene was one of the highlights but even without it's probably still amazing, specially if you're into tench staff, that stage! You have you see it to believe it! I also really enjoyed Mystery and it really surprised me considering it's the oldest Cirque du soliel show playing in Vegas, I also believe is one of the cheapest and the easiest to get tickets to. O, on the other hand, was defiantly my less favorite but it's also one of the most populars and difficult to get tickets to. I believe the most "theatre like" show is Zarkana that plays at the cosmopolitan. If I was in Vegas again I think that would be my choice. Have a great time!

Staggered that Samantha Barks has got the lead in this. She is no doubt pretty, and is certainly a woman but she has no charisma whatsoever. My thoughts exactly! If only they had done this when Hannah Waddingham was younger...

Agree! I remember loving this at the southwark playhouse, then a few moths after I was very impressed with the Sheffield production, set in the 70's like the original and with a second to none cast, but in a bigger space, and it's not like the Crucible is massive, it didn't feel quite the same I loved that production too. I was inches away from Siobhan McCarthy which made my evening! (I love your avatar by the way... I remember seeing Les Mis in Madrid years and years ago. The first non-blonde Fantine, I think!) The 1993 production in Madrid was the first professional production of a musical that I ever got to see, hence why And you're right Fantine's hair wasn't blonde
