Is it a benefit for ‘Help the Aged’? bloody hell, you're criticising it before its even started!!?? Some support for the arts you are.... Wow. I think you'll find danb does more than his fair share of supporting the arts based on his board posts. Making a joke about casting 30-year-olds to play teenagers is hardly damning the production to fail.

Is it a benefit for ‘Help the Aged’? Apparently so! They'll all be great but it's getting a bit much. Why are people moaning about Ben Platt being 'too old' to play Evan on film but on stage it's apparently fine! Crazy world.

I can understand £50 for the West End, but for the provincials fifty quid is a hell of an ask for a touring show. London is generally pricing at £100 now, so regionals will undoubtedly increase to keep up with it. Not a surprise really, the last Les Mis and Wicked tours were c£60 at ATG venues.

First jab done. All of the staff could not have done a better job. Such a credit to the NHS.

The fact that it's 'cheaper than Hamilton' doesn't mean it's not still overpriced. Hamilton shouldn't be £100 either.

6 glasses = 1 bottle of champers, probably cheap stuff. So the ticket is marked up for a £10 bottle of pop that Billy No-mates can drink in splendid isolation and wake up with a stonking headache. BTW robertb213 I didn't mean to offend with the Billy No-mates comment. Je suis Billy! Oh none taken at all! I'm so used to being on my own it doesn't enter my head to take offence 🤣 and I didn't actually book it anyway, I was only testing. That would be a third of my mortgage!

I also wonder how many people are going to be disappointed when they find out that half of the music from the film has either been massively reworked or cut altogether (assuming they replicate the Broadway set-list).

Are we sure about the six glasses of champagne thing? That must be worth about £60 minimum at theatre bar prices. Is it a mistake, maybe intended for group bookings? That's definitely what the ATG site says. I just tried to book one ticket and in my basket it says it includes 6 glasses of champagne plus the other bits for £184.50.

Besides the price and lack of casting, the other major issue putting me off booking for this is: will it be blighted by hen parties? And those top price tickets that include 6 glasses of champagne is just asking for trouble. Certainly is. Gaggles of drunk women murdering 'Like A Virgin' and going out to the loo every 5 minutes.

There is a lot of love out there for the film, which has such a theatrical vibe to it and it always felt like it was born for the stage. But it has been 20 years since that came out so I'm surprised it's as popular as it seems to be at the moment.

I finished it last night, Ewan did seem to settle into it as it progressed and became more convincing as Halston got older. Krysta remained the standout for me though.
An averagely OK watch, nothing to blow you away and I wouldn't watch it twice. Some lovely performances from Vera Farmiga and Kelly Bishop. Long live Emily Gilmore 😍

But there were a larger number of less expensive seats available, which Moulin Rouge isn't offering. They might have two blinding leads lined up, but if there are two West End performers up there (rather than 'names'), then someone needs to justify those prices. 'A nice-looking set' doesn't cut it I'm afraid. A giant elephant and two big names floating across a Parisian sky, then maybe I'll buy into it. FWIW I’m not trying to justify the prices, just pointing out that this isn’t the first time ATG have set ridiculous premiums. Oh god yes... and it won't be the last! 🤣

The prices are ridiculous, but I think Sunday in the Park with George had tickets that were over £200, though obviously that had a movie star attached. My point was that Moulin Rouge is selling at the inflated prices, which will simply encourage others to inflate theirs as high as they can go. Exactly. And with no big names announced to justify the price. The Broadway reviews didn't exactly set the world on fire either. I'm sure it'll be amazing but it's setting a dangerous new precedent that could make theatre unaffordable for a lot of people. If people continue to pay it then prices will continue to rise. This isn't a case of 'if you want an iPhone you either pay through the nose or you go without', theatre should be accessible to everyone, not just the rich. Fair play to those who can do it. I'm just surprised there are so many people willing to part with so much money on this based solely on it 'being Moulin Rouge'. Maybe it'll make sense when they announce the cast. I only paid £85 for Sunday In The Park With George and that was to be three rows away from Jake Gyllenhaal!

He does look good for 50 but that's irrelevant if he's supposed to be 36!
I'll stick with it but at the moment it just feels like he's overacting, nothing in his line delivery feels natural at all. Sounding like someone doesn't mean you can portray them convincingly.

I'm trying to watch this but Ewan McGregor seems totally miscast. It's like he's forgotten how to act, it's so hammy, almost like bad Am Dram. And he's way too old - in 1968 Halston was 36, Ewan has just turned 50!
Krysta Rodriguez is fabulous as Liza though, loved her since the Smash days.

I've only managed a 3-show day twice but I loved it, it's like the Holy Grail for a theatre fan! It does require booking the next day off work though 🤣

I suspect the tour will happen but with a gap, maybe early 2022, with a UK actress leading it

If I'd lived closer I probably would've left at the interval too, but I'd travelled from Northants so I felt I had to stick it out!
There just weren't any good songs in it. The Book Of Mormon is at least hummable pretty much all the way through!

Manchester Hope Mill did a production a couple of years ago. I didn't find it shocking or offensive, I just didn't think it was very good!

Yeah I've always used it in a neutral way. I definitely think it's come from the States, I remember it being widely used in Friends and Buffy among various other things.

Most of the centre stalls £150. I find it so frustrating when theatres give a price range plus "premium seats available" and then proceed to have all of the decent seats at that premium price. Just be up front. Tell people the actual prices. If your product is good enough the price will be justified. I was going to say, £67.50 sounded way too good to be true!

Dove Cameron does seem the obvious choice for Glinda. And they'll squeeze James Corsen in somewhere, probably as The Wizard, with a Meryl Streep/Christine Baranski type as Morrible. It'll be Elphaba who's the tricky casting. All I ask is that they cast people who can actually sing it, as written, without needing to be lifelessly autotuned beyond all recognition (Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, I'm looking at you).
